High pressure sodium lamps do not usually turn green when they turn on. They just go from pale off-white straight to bright orange-yellow. Also that ballast is much louder than your voice!!!

I lived a block from BNSF Train switch yard and whatever they do there, Trains all hours of the day and night blowing their horns and after awhile you get used to it but then you noticed that each conductor had their own style in how they blow the horn. I moved out to that house and the city built a overpass so it's pretty much quiet but I do miss looking out my backyard and seeing lots of trains.

This bulb is made by an outside manufacturer like all modern HID bulbs in general. I think one manufacturer just does them all. I think there’s only like Venture and Yaming who make their own metal halide bulbs. GE does not make HID lamps anymore. The Hungarian GE metal halide and HPS lamps were the last HID bulbs actually made by GE.
