I'm 60, born in Toronto in 1964, and I'm planning on moving to Portugal or Panama, mainly for the health care in those places. Here in Canada, if I get an illness, I will probably die before I get the care that I need. Luckily I'm healthy so far, but as I age I won't be, so I must leave Canada simply so I can live longer.

President Trump put in place in the USA no tax on overtime, no tax on tips, and no tax for seniors. Here in Canada we are taxed to death from corporate, to the senior or single mom that struggles every day. If the USA can cut taxes why cant Canada?. Time to leave this impossible place to survive.

Similarily, the early 90s were not an easy time for young people in Canada either. At the time, Southern Ontario and Quebec were undergoing industrial restructuring due to the FTA and NAFTA agreements. Moreover, there was a lot of political turmoil due to the failure of the Meech Lake Accord, the failure of the Charlottetown Referendum, followed by the Quebec Independence Referendum in 1995. Quebec nearly broke away from Canada. In Ontario where I am from, the Ontario government had massive fiscal deficits which led to the election of Premier Mike Harris causing huge labour disruptions and political turmoil. At the Federal level, Finance Minister Paul Martin was facing a debt emergency and he was forced to cut billions of dollars of social spending during a slow growth economy. At the provincial level, Premier Harris cut Welfare payments by $200 per month to try to get spending under control. When I wanted to come back to Canada in 1993, my father told me to stay in Japan as there were very few prospects in Canada. I remember some of my university friends who graduated working 2 part time jobs due to lack of full time jobs during this period. Economies go up and they go down.

It's astounding that these people can basically pick their western country of choice from half-a-world away and be set up in their new life in a matter of weeks, no questions asked. As a White person, if you want to immigrate to most countries in Europe, Australia, or elsewhere, you've got to already have a job lined up, prove that you have a sizeable savings to live on, or show that you're coming to that country to start a business that will employ people.
