She got too cocky. She let it all go to her head. In order to stay on top, you need to keep some humility. I blame the people in her life. Her dad constantly told her that she was the best, no competition. This kind of crap leads to complacentcy and laziness. There were rumors of her showing up to practice late, sitting down a lot, etc. She was even getting special treatment at the ranch. this will be any athelte's downfall. Athlete's need to be kept in check at all times.
I don't think so she was just not as strong as she was in 2008 and there were two many what ifs with her she only barely got to trials because marta wanted her to have the chance to compete
I love Liukin, although at first I disliked her. She proved to the world that strength and artistry can exist in the same routine. You see gymnasts nowadays are divided into 2 categories, they're either "power" or "artistic". Nastia Liukin manages both, and even though it isn't perfect it's awesome. I especially lover her bars routines. She has the best one, probably the best the US will ever have.
Well yeh but, some people want a chance to make that ONE TIME as well! She won gold all around for christ sakes! Her life is changed forever, she's a legend now! And probably loaded!
She knew she wasn't gonna win again, but she thought of it as a challenge, to make sure she retired when she had to and that there wasn't another chance for her to go to the olympics. Besides, best athletes go, no matter their age or if they won before.
that is so rude and really stupid to say. Yeah people train all of their lives, yeah she won gold, SOO many Olympians go back to the Olympics multiple times. Shes one of the best and didnt make it by ONE spot. No need to be an ass about it.
I believe that nastia will not give up on gymnastic cause gymnastic is her life even though she did not get into the USA olympic team. She is fabulous I will support USA and her no matter what
