Laasya Art is a leading Indian art gallery established in 2013 in Palo Alto (San Francisco Bay Area), California to promote contemporary and traditional Indian art. The technicolor landscapes of contemporary Indian artist Sumanto Chowdury are filled with candy-colored homes, rolling emerald hills, patches of red earth and sunny pastel skies. The influence of Indian miniature painting is evident in his close attention to architectural details like ornate fences and patterned tiles, as well as the visual depth of his canvases. Sumanto Chowdhury studied painntinng at Kala Bhavana, Santiniketan and printmaking at the University of Hyderabad. He has received numerous awards from institutions including the South Zone Cultural Center, Prafulla Dahanukar Art Foundation and Aranya Art Foundation.
