Welcome Fellow Yarn Enthusiast!
I began making UA-cam videos in September of 2021 for those interested or in need of them. The goal is to include as much information as possible into a condensed and easy to understand format.
I have been an avid crochetier for 10+ years and have been machine knitting for just over a year. If you are interested in seeing more creations you can find them on bogartknits

Simple Shirt - knitting machine WIP
This is a super simple method to make a simple t-shirt or sweater with a nice neckline, with minimal effort. This method is a great starting point for a shirt or sweater, and from there you can have lots of fun designing an original top!
The back and front were done on a Singer knitting machine. I plan to crochet ribbing for the arms and bottom.

LIGHTNING AUGUST 23 2024
Переглядів 423 місяці тому
This is in Vernon BC Canada. While driving home my dash-cam caught some great lightning clips. At one point you can hear me say "holy shit...." That is because if you look closely you can see lightning in the reflection of the black truck, and after reviewing the back dash-cam, wow!!!

Hand-manipulated Slip Stitch Tutorial (singer knitting machine)
Переглядів 65610 місяців тому
This video is shows a technique manipulating slip stitches to have them fall on the "front side" of the fabric which creates a cool effect. This tutorial uses a Singer 218 knitting machine. Although hand manipulated stitches can be a bit tedious at times this technique gets easier as you go along, it becomes like second nature (even though I was struggling at the beginning it became a lot easie...

Assassin's Creed® Origins steal or destroy boat
It’s partially vague partially understandable I am glad some people can follow this tutorial, unfortunately not me too bad it is a cute pattern
What does standard adult size mean? I am 24 inch head. So what is the ending circumference of the hat? No point in making it if it won’t fit. Thanks
😊excellent, easy to follow and beautiful ❤🎉😊
So could this be used with a SRP 50 Ribber then?
@stevemichael8186 that's a good question. This tutorial doesn't require a ribber attachment, but it could be interesting to experiment. I'm not familiar with the SRP 50 but if it is a singer they tend to be quite similar. I hope that helps🙂
What stitch are you using? The doc doesn’t look like reg sc. are you doing an extended sc?
@michellenash6802 the heels and toes are sc, and the main sock is 1dc1sc continuous. I hope that helps!
Oh also yarn under was used in the video. You can use yarn over too, the size will change depending on the one you choose to use
Very cool , I had a go and very happy with the result, now going to try a rainbow one
@YarnZombiee cool! Excited for a rainbow one!!
@@bogartknits7320 I'll put it in one of my videos and tag you and put a link to this tutorial,
@YarnZombiee that sounds good, I definitely would like to see how it turns out!
I'm obsessed! This is such a creative and amazing design. Thank you so much for sharing <3
@jessalinnguyen1504 of course! Hopefully I can come up with another fun pattern soon!
AMAZING tutorial - can 't wait to try this! Thank you so much.
Thank you, thank you!!!!
I came straight from Hobbii website, it’s so beautiful! Im to attempt this !❤❤❤
Does anyone have any recommendations for alternating colors to make it look like the shell is striped? Is that possible? (My best friend is a marine biologist who is currently studying snails, and I am just dying to make this for her!!!)
@laurencarlson7045 there was someone who shared their project on ravelry and did that, here is the link www.ravelry.com/projects/LilNaia/snail-shell-hat-5 She said she went "through the post instead of around the post"
Very clever! This would be perfect for fall layering under a cardigan or blazer.
Totally! I love the thought of pairing it up with a blazer 🤩
I coudnt find ribbon yarn and used regular heavy baby yarn but its super hard to starch ! Where do you guys get affordable ribbon yarn? Im in canada
@@genswhispersasmr7596 you can try hobbii.com or Etsy :)
you just say hook size 8, does that mean 8.00mm? (hook size L/11) or does that mean Hook size H/8 5.00mm?
@@storybookweather7008 8.00mm :)
@@bogartknits7320 I'm using a cotton medium 4 yarn, so for the circles I used a 4.25 hook, and switched to a 6.00 hook for the rest, I'm almost done and I think it's coming out the right size, it's just not full, it's more loose and lacey like a snood kinda, but I like it so far
Hermoso ❤
This is gorgeous! Is there a text-only version of the pattern?
Kind of. It's 2.50usd on ravelry though it still heavily relies on the video.
I absolutely love this hat. Thank you for the tutorial. ❤❤❤
The best is to get an automatic weaving arm . No swapping the weft yarn over 😀
Do you have to stiffen the hat?
Do you have to use ribbon yarn, or will normal bulky yarn work?
Hello! I found the ribbon yarn works the best for this pattern, however many folks have done it with different types of yarn with success. You can check out this link to my ravelry page to see and compare other people's projects and the different yarns that they used :):) www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/snail-shell-hat/people
Wow 🤩 😊
omg this is so cute!!! this is something my friend would LOVE!!! great work, thank you for sharing the amazing pattern!!!!!
Thank you so much! I missed it on ravelry!
I don’t see a yardage count. Maybe I’ve overlooked it. Anyone know?
I purchased the printed pattern already but don’t see it there.
Hello, thank you so much for bringing that up! It does say it on the ravelry page, but I will make sure to add it to the PDF as well asap. It is approximately 275-325 yards.
it's gorgeous!!
That's so cool, I must try it!!
So prettyyy, does it create a dense fabric?
It does make a pretty dense fabric. The plan is to make a kitchen mat to see how it turns out. I'm doing several strips in different colors and plan to stitch them together. I'm looking forward to sharing pictures when it's all done!
Hi! I am curious where you found this pattern? Is it from a book?
Made this! love it! thank you for your time!
I'm gearing up to start one of these, (or maybe more), and was wondering if you were joining throughout the project?
I think o might be a nit confused, but I guess the circles are being joined throughout the project as you go along. I hope that helps! I'm excited to see what yours looks like!
I think I was meaning the brim, and the band. @@bogartknits7320
👏👏👏MUITO BONITO 👏👏👏
Ich habe mal eine Puppenmütze davon gemacht, aber die Umsetzung für Menschen ist mir nicht so gelungen, danke für dein Video 😘
❤
Love it,
I made this in 2 days. THANK YOJ
Where can I buy cotton ribbon?
Hello! Try Hobbii.com or this link here: www.etsy.com/ca/listing/1238997652/yarnart-ribbon-cotton-yarn-neon-bag?click_key=c391be1036697360044b722a705f294471f644d5%3A1238997652&click_sum=245422f0&ref=shop_home_active_1&pro=1&sts=1
Thank you!
When you start joining the circles, do you pull the yarn from the back through to the front of the circles, or from the front through to the back?
From the back through to the front. I hope that helps!
Is thus an adult only or in the written pattern is there a modified version for kids?
Only one size (for adults) at this time. I have done this project with a smaller hook different yarn for kids and it worked okay but I do not have the specs up for that yet
I'm sorry, what size Crochet hook is it anybody?
Size 8
It is so cool to find something very different for a hat! Thank you! And thank you for the video tutorial as well. Renaissance is big here and this hat would be appreciated. 💖💖💖
It looks like you are doing yarn under stitches. Does it make a difference in the hat if you do yarn over instead?
@@bogartknits7320 it looks like you do it all the way through the pattern. Once I am able to get the right type of yarn I want to make it.
I do yarn under for almost all my projects, just out of preference. I only do it for single crochets though, I honestly don't see much of a difference when I yarn under for DCs or TRs.
Yes you are right @heather41583 I had a blond moment before, sorry about that. It is personal preference. Next time I make a video I will make sure to mention that.
The main attribute using yarn under is tighter stitches/ a denser fabric, which is ideal for a hat :)
@@bogartknits7320 now that I didn't know, but definitely makes sense as to why my amigurumis have been so sturdy lol
Could you give me any pointers on the starching process please? Things like do you get the top parts soaking wet in the mix, or do you just dab it on? Do you squeeze it out? Inside and outside. How many coats? I love this hat design so much! Thank you for sharing!
Hello! I usually stuff the inside of the hat with a plastic bag with whatever rags or small towels to shape it. The plastic bag prevents it from sticking. I had used glue in the past mixed with water to stiffen it, but I've noticed there is a discoloration that shows up with certain yarns so I might try cornstarch next time. I usually spray the starch on with a spray bottle (I got it from the dollar store) once I have the shape that I want it. I have a styrofoam manaquin head to help shape it
That's great! Thank you very much!
Thank you. So glad I found you.
Thank You
Very cool. Thank you
I'm absolutely stoked to have found this tutorial. My hubby wanted a whimsical wizard-like hat and he fell in LOVE with this pattern when we were scrolling ideas for this. It's super easy to follow so far 😊 I'm currently cranking one out for him to wear to a fantasy faire that's coming up ❤
That's awesome! We are in fact (my hubby and i) druidic pagans and it is actually meant to look like a wizard/witch hat 👍👍I might design other fun witchy hats in the future so I'm glad that you like it! I'd love to see a photo when your done!
Hey one thing that I did instead of starching the hat was stuffing 2 lightweight grocery bags inside the shell. Same idea for stuffing as the Twisted Kraken Hat. I wore my snail shell hat to a music festival this weekend and was turning heads everywhere I got a ton of compliments. I can’t get over how awesome this hat is!!
Yeah that works! I'm happy to hear that! 💕🥳
I just finished mine! I wish there was a way to attach a photo! Thank you so much for this amazing hat pattern! I’m very excited to wear it and show it off
Do you think I could make a kid size by doing my circles with HDC and then the starting chain smaller??? I want to make a matching one for my 5 year old son
I am so excited to find this pattern and you...thanks. I found you because someone is using a picture of this hat with a pattern they wrote that makes no sense. So I searched UA-cam and found you. I will make many of these and always give you credit.
Inreresting I planned to make a written version to go with this video but I haven't gotten around to it yet 🙃 the video took weeks to make and I needed a break when it was done 😅 I hope to start the written pattern next week I'm really happy you found the video useful.
The written version is now available for purchase on my ravelry page as a way to support my work. The video tutorial will stay up for free :)
Hi!! I adore this pattern and was wondering if there would be a written version at all? Thank you!!
I do plan on doing a written version but I haven't gotten around to it yet
@@bogartknits7320 Amazing!! When it's ready I'm so on the queue!! I know they take FOREVER to write, so thanks for the work!!
