Travelling with young non skier kid (so he needs some activity during the day while we are skiing), is it better to stay in Morzine or Avoriaz?
Over development has ruined the area
Yeah, the arc 2000 valley with Mont Blanc at the end and L’Aiguille Rouge has some of the most appalling vistas… 🙄
Thanks for the coffee tips!
All of these seasons negative sunscreen
Where is better to stay in thls whole area of 3 Valleys if we want to ski in nice wide long blue runs? Thank you
Val Thorens wins on this front but Meribel sits in the middle of the three valleys so it's easiest to get everywhere. If you want to ski the whole area, Meribel is best; if you think you'll just stick to one resort then Val Thorens is best and you'll say a bit of money on your ski pass. Final thing I'd add: If you want blues because it's your thing then this won't matter but if it's because you aren't comfortable on reds then getting from valley to valley can be stressful. The slopes aren't always easy and can be very busy so even the blues can feel more intimidating Hope this helps!
@SudokuWarriorApp Thank you so much. This has been very helpful. All the best.
@SudokuWarriorApp What I read is when you are in Meribel, taking to the top gondola/lift from Meribel is something like you can be easily in Courchevel. (even in Val Thorens)...Is this correct? Thanks.
@@ufukgoksu9851 Hi, I'm not sure I understood your question perfectly so let me know if I'm not answering it well. From Meribel it's easy and pretty quick (30-60 minutes?) to get to Courchevel or Val Thorens if you're a confident skier and you don't get stuck in a long lift line. It takes a lot longer to get from Val Thorens to Courchevel because you have to go down to Meribel and back up. It ends up being a quite a long day to get there and back without risking getting stuck in the wrong village but it's good fun - plenty of people have done it before (including me) but would recommend checking the weather first! Hope this helps!
@@ufukgoksu9851 Yeah, getting to Courchevel and Val Thorens is easy from Meribel so long as you're a confident skier. If you're not a confident skier then I'd advise being a lot more careful about planning your route to not get stuck somewhere that either 1) requires taking a busier/more difficult slope to get back or 2) takes a surprisingly long time via runs you'd be comfortable with You can get to Courchevel and back from Val Thorens (I've done it) but it'll take you most of the day and benefits from good weather as well as going at a time when the lift queues aren't too long. Getting back across valleys can take a while towards the end of the day. Hope this helps!
hey be better if you actually skied to these places , especially the restaurants so we could see them. and to the Lindarets bowl you talk about, instead of just you talking about it. i mean your right there. why not show it ?
do you know if Prodains Cable Car to Avoriaz is included with the ski pass? also, how do you recommend to get there from paris?
The cable car is included in the Portes du Soleil lift pass yes. Also from Paris we'd recommend the TGV to Thonon-les-Bains or Cluses and hop on the bus or a taxi from there (45 mins ish) - see the timetable and a little more info here - www.seeavoriaz.com/buses
What’s the best one for non ski/board activities? And also what’s the best one for bars and nightlife? Thanks
For apres/nightlife Plagne Centre or 1800 (with La Mine bar) are your best bets. For non-ski activities Belle Plagne is a great option with the Deep Nature Spa for hot tubs, pools, steam rooms etc.. take a look at La Plagne FAQs for more info - www.skiyodl.com/blogs/la-plagne-faqs
Hey, we've booked a chalet for 10 of us jan 25. What time do the slopes open and close? Thanks
@@Davewithamullet Hope you're enjoying your trip!
Rich tax? 20% more compared to where please? A little misleading...
Hey there! Courchevel has heaps going for it, a world-class ski area for one, It’s an amazing place to ski, but it does come at a price. The resort is consistently one of the most expensive resorts in the Alps. Yes, the villages around 1850 such as Moriond, Village, Le Praz or La Tania are a slight step down price wise but it’s still one of the most expensive places to ski in the Alps.
The ski area has changed name years agob, it's not Espace Killy...
Is it more expensive than Lech, Solden and Zermatt?😢
We would say roughly the same, but if you go to places like La Tania or 1550 in Courchevel, there are definitely budget options that can still provide you with the best skiing!
@@skiyodl5317 Thanks
Great review!
93 subscribers? WTF?
I'll be there in 2 days!
My parents just come back and they said prices for food and drinks were ridiculous
Worse than Switzerland though?
The fourth valley is quite good .
If you're talking about the Orelle valley, I can vouch for it. I went there a few weeks ago and not only did it have the best snow of all the valleys, it has several good runs and is also very quiet.
I always thought Maribel wasn’t quite snow sure towards the village . The trout hatchery is interesting but not difficult . I don’t ski anymore my knees are shot !!!!!😢
Been twice, would go tomorrow, fantastic resort
Trouble is Ed......its not diverse enough for you😁😁😁😁
Went to avoriaz last year the food is absolutely awful changabang was like the only good place
