That’s a great point I haven’t heard in a while. Segregation was truly a treacherous time to live in. The scars of the past can haunt those who fell victim to it. Cartoons of that time would mostly depict POC with the same design of dark/black skin and fish lips. Giving that Dragon Ball was made not too long after segregation ended and there wasn’t any cultural differences in Japan, you can make the argument of Toriyama following the trends of those same old cartoons with early Dragon Ball and Z. With that being said, people can change with the times and become better. That’s why I brought up Uub and Janet. I don’t believe that Toriyama was racist, just wish some people are open to have these conversations than to jump to conclusions.

My father was one that was sent to the formerly black only schools afterwards. Even despite the crap he experienced there. Today he realizes the truth of it. Hatred is a vicious cycle and forgiveness even with no apologies is the only way forward. Love also begats love but it's easy to forget that in today's world.
