We liked the plow part. In retrospect better deals could have been found. It will come in handy for our home build as a powered wheelbarrow.

Was a Toyota Dolphin camper. I think it will make a great flatbed. Welding in a donor roof and rear wall. Next up is a steel flatbed.

Do you mind sharing the cost?
Around 8k
Do you still have the property?
Yes, we lost Mona this year and it’s been a struggle. Plan to start up in the spring.
Good Day everyone. My wife and I just purchased a 1997 3000 Series. I noticed the roof is not one molded unit Does anyone know what type of roof is on this model. Thank you for your help.
They have a rubber roof from what I gather.
Sorry I missed this. The roof is from inside to out. Heavy duty fabric, 5 mm multi layer ply, 2 inches of foam, 5 mm ply, edpm roofing glued to plywood.
That's exactly what I'm trying to do , how did you take the camper, thx
We have stayed here before with our motor home, now we would like to experience staying in the Yurts, but trying to find the phone # to book is not user friendly. Isf someone can help I would be appreciated. Thank you, David,
thats freaking awesome! i cant believe how close you guys got it on the first try! good luck with the build i hope it all goes well
Hi! Just ran I to your channel! I’m glad someone is documenting their experience out there! We bought some land last year in the SDCR and have been wondering about the build process as I’ve heard lots of negative feedback from others out there. I’d love to hear your experience! Thanks!
Hi there, I have the same generator, sometimes it starts right up, but then when i turn it off and try to start it in the same day, it doesnt start up. Also, what size socket for that spark plug? Thanks!
Two years ago and counting. Still loving it?
Yes we do!
@@Lifeatft-jm3xo Awesome. Good for you!
Bob, Do you mind me asking if your roof is fiberglass or a different material our 1997 is not fiberglass
@@wideopenspaces80 Yes, the 1500 and 2500 series Bigfoots are all fiberglass under gelcoat. They are known as a clamshell design. The 3000 is different in many ways, is that the model you have?
@@bob_frazier yes Sir
On sale?
Do you still have land in Sangre de Cristo? I just bought some there
We do
I just pulled my Honda EM600 out of the garage today. I got it from my father about 15 years ago and it has sat in the garage since then. He bought it Oct. 22nd 1983. I pulled the cord a few times and had good compression. Turned the switch to on, pulled the cord and it started right up. Then I powered it down, emptied the old fuel still in it. Restarted the engine and ran it out of old fuel in a few minutes. The old air filter was total trash and will be replaced, maybe a new spark plug and some maintenance. You are right, it is HEAVY. I have the manual and original wires and tool.
They are beasts! Well engineered in the day.
Great review 🙏 Just ordered one today. I have a 32’ 5th wheel in Montana. It will work better closer to the floor.😊
what did you use for the back klip??
A local Toyota yard had a donor. He cut it off for me. 3 or 4 hundred bucks.
I just love ❤ it!
If you hate your sagebrush so much. In the spring or fall send them live in bit of soil with press and seal to me if your near salt lake city utah. You can email me at baronslizards@gmail.com
what the hellz
I’m a neighbor so hi. I use a pitchfork on the sage. I see Mt. Blanca in the background. I have 40 acres in San Luis aria. Grind the sage and make adobe.
That’s a thought. It’s not easy to dispose of.
@@Lifeatft-jm3xo ok so three fun ideas. Pitchfork is good and I use a line like you but I use a ladder as my leverage so I attach the line around the sage and loop the line over the ladder. Next lean back and pull the line ladder and sagebrush up and out. The ladder is fast and useful for lots of heavy pulling and dragging. Now the best and fastest use of sagebrush is fencing. I have stacked rocks and sagebrush in a fence by stacking rocks in the branches. With a little work you’ll get the idea. Layer the stack one over the next and the fence will be dense and surprisingly strong. I use 40 or so pound rocks. Lay the pulled plants flat and place rock in the branching. This is a useful way to store and dry the plants before adobe.
This might take longer than I thought
John Deere finished ours. Pulling by hand took weeks. John Deere did it in minutes. We don’t suggest this method.
@@Lifeatft-jm3xo Thank you!
Ill be one of your neighbors sometime soon! Already have my land just designing some plans. Happy Building!
Welcome to the Ranches Alex! Thanks for watching.
sounds good is that freedom rock well turn it up
I’ve got the Cub onboard my boat. Damned wonderful 👍
it ain't a dozer and a root rake but it works I guess, have fun
We finished it with a John Deere 410😎
Hello from 4300 ft (Utah) We just bought ours Dec 2020. I can't get over how spacious this floor plan is. I put it on a 3/4 ton Cummins (Dodge) with an extra leaf and Torklift stableloads. Looked at Lance's with a slide out, but Love how solid the Fiberglass Bigfoot is built. Good luck getting through COVID and happy camping!
They are awesome truck campers. The 3000 is a bit heavy even on my dually.
I'm doing the same thing could you show the finish product I like it
I’ve been preoccupied with family this year and will be restarting it soon
Thanks for the update. I look forward to seeing your progress.
Me too!
Nice little stove.
It works very well.
amazing views!
So worth it to have someone do it. Ether way you are spending $.
The cost of renting a backhoe negated the cost of having someone else do it. The money went around the local economy. Win
Alien baby late pour lol!
This is awesome. Keep up the good work. I am interested in learning how you do this.
too cool
Those were nice campers.
Nifty little generator
What a beautiful place!
Thank you
Pampered Pup lol
Thanks for this info!
nice job on the cab, i have one that am getting ready to enclose, mine is an 1989 dolphin with 30k miles and runs great. I just want to get mine enclosed quickly after tearing the camper off with something temporary and down the road will try and find someone to weld some metal. Great photo of the bed with all the wood off of it, i've been wondering what it looked like under everything. Cant wait to see what your finished product will be. Great job !
I was going to rivet sheet metal over the top and back but I found the back section for 300 bucks. Welding will be fun. Thanks!
The stove hangs on the wall rather than sitting on the floor?
It does. Just our preference.
Great Job!
Thanks Deb
Thank You! Need to get started on my property in Costilla-County! Been wondering a lot about cost of basement.
Welcome! Our costs are not finalized yet. I will be putting a budget vid up soon. Best guess right now is around 12k using icf blocks and concrete. We have a 20x40 footprint. Our soil was easy to get through. Some of the lots up the mountain are rocky and require jack hammers and explosives.
@@Lifeatft-jm3xo Thanks! Looking forward to your vids.
@@Lifeatft-jm3xo I am very interested in the total costs breakdown and seeing more videos! Thanks for sharing.
@@jonathankuhn2180 I’ll be putting more vids in about a month. Thank you for watching!
@@Lifeatft-jm3xo Awesome, I'll be in the valley next week, I don't live too far from there.
This is so COOL!
I wonder if you realize that your sagebrush is an extremely valuable medicinal plant and food source and environmental resource and those Sagebrush right there are possibly hundreds of years old and if you only cared about money they're worth a lot more than your property is and for you to kill them all off and plant grass is just a horrible idea all the deer will die and animals in that area and birds and you will just have a desert land I mean if that's what you want or trying to you know grow grass or hay or drain the water table or something you know like rice and hay farmers do then I guess you're on the right path, why don't you buy land that's already clear cut instead of destroying the environment there's plenty of land that's already the desert why would you kill plants that are hundreds of years old that the mule deer and Antelope need to survive anyway enjoy your land it's yours I guess you can do what you want with it till the federal government let you know that you're destroying an endangered species or the mule deer or something or that you need a permit or something but at that point you will have already killed plants that have been alive longer than you and your wife lives put together, just so you know, they are not worthless weeds
We are not removing all of sagebrush. If fact it adds to the beauty of the landscape. Clearing a spot for the AFrame and septic field. I do need clear some that is too close to the pinyon pine trees for fire mitigation. The sagebrush is a very large part of our ecosystem. When We first bought the property I thought “ this sagebrush needs to be drastically remediated” . I have since changed my mind. Thanks for the feedback👍🏻😀
There are oceans of sagebrush in the west . we aren't going to run out any time soon.
@@Lifeatft-jm3xo and I kind of feel the opposite on my property now, yes quite a lot of it has to be removed in order to have somewhere to stand park put all your assets in order to build a cabin etc
I'm surrounded by sagebrush hating neighbors. They prefer cheat grass, which will take its place
Looks like my driveway
spray "Spike 20 p" kills the sage and leaves the grass in two to three years all gone
Nice lot! I'm looking at purchasing a lot in the San Luis Valley this spring, and wondering if you got your septic system done from a 3rd party or did it yourself. Best of luck!
Nathaniel Lanier I’ll get the septic this spring. I have an engineer designing the system. We will put it on ourselves.
Do you have any updates. I’ve got land outside of San Luis CO. Was looking into doing something similar
Really glad to come across your channel! Just bought my own land in the SLV and looking forward to keeping up with your progress!
Robert Mollo Thank you, we love the valley.
Hi from Canada!🍁. We have the same camper and love it. We would also love to convert the dinette to seating. Interested in how you are doing that. 😊
Gaye Kurtz We like our Bigfoot. The dinette not so much. I’ve got a little too much on plate right now. When I clear some time I will do a vid on the removal and redo. For now we use big pillows against the wall for tv watching.
That CIC room looks a lot different from the ones I worked in. Good tour.
Dan Travels Thank you Dan! Much older ship. BTW, we always loved content and the van. Hope to see on the road sometime.
