Regarding your picking techniques, there are no techniques as such....... but I hold my plectrum quite firm in between my thumb and index finger, and rest my palm on the Bridge, for faster picking notes. Actually It depends upon every individual, the way they want to sound to the audience or for themselves. It also depends upon song selection. Basically it depends upon how your ear is trained to listen to certain music. Don't you worry, keep on exploring, keep trying different ways to sound good, one day you will surely be happy with the results you get. Wishing you all the very best for your practise.
