2023 Kia Forte GT DCT • RaceChip GTS (Part 3) • 0-60 • 1/4 mile
In this video you'll find Time Slips from a Dragy and the Dragstrip, reflecting my most recent performances mods. Continue to watch the video after the two passes, to see photos of all mods.
On 09/02/24, after my latest mods, I did a couple 1/4 ml Dragy runs on the street (at safe industrial area) and managed a 13.70s @103.62 mph with a 5.20s(1ft) 0-60 on 265/35/18 summer tires.
A few days later on 09/06/24 was at a Dragstrip on prepped surface and managed a 13.65s @101.38 mph on my 1st pass, which was also recorded on Dragy for comparison, showing 13.68s @101.41 with a 5.10s(1ft) 0-60 on same tires. The 2nd (back-to-back) Track pass had a time slip of 13.69s @101.91 mph, but was not recorded on Dragy.
Car has been running flawless with the RaceChip GTS on map 7 ever since installation and seems it can handle quite a few bolt-ons, without any issues. Have always used Mobil 93 (10% ethanol) premium pump gas with HKS M45XL sparks gapped @.025

I have the Racechip S on my 2021, only other option is lightweight wheels, shaved about 7 pounds off each corner. Have not ran against much, but I did run a V8 Mustang GT from about 20 to 90. Fully expected to get passed, never happened. I won't call the car fast, but it's quick.
Might wanna check my 12.88 👀
Believe me I have watched all your videos! Much respect 🙏 See you running a B58 these days..
Those are stock EN times not too bad probably give a type R a run for his life ..if he knows how to drive that mt 😂
As long as they both remain stock we'll be alright 🤣
Curious as to what a front and side view of your car with the wider tires.. 265 right? <- nm just read the description.
There's a photo @2:40 of video to get an idea..
I'm curious to how your ignition timing is looking on these pulls. I'd def switch to a jb4 so atleast you can monitor your car. You can add safeties but all in all goo's runs
@@aj1984p Why JB4 over the Racechips GTS? Can you go into a little more technical details?
@thestreamreader because with a jb4 you have live gauges of what's going on with your car. You can make custom maps. You can set boost and timing safeties. A racechip is just a boost adder. It's where I started but quickly moved on. I use the jb4 to monitor the car as my car is ecu tune. If I wanted to get crazy I can run a custom map on top of my tune.
@@thestreamreader All that he's saying about the JB4 is true and I admit. There's more flexibility and adjustments it can provide (IF it's set up properly) even if you later decide to add an actual ECU tune to go along with it. Will aslo help monitor everything together. But won't necessarily give you better performance straight out of the box, compared to RC. I know a lot of guys that use the jb4, but after the initial setup they hardly ever go back to adjust or monitor anything which can be just as bad as any other device. The main reason I chose the RC is because its simplicity and it works very well. I have done plenty of hard runs testing it in the last 10k+ miles that it's been installed and never experienced any kind of detonation using 93 premium gas with spark plugs gapped at .025, plus the way the car pulls mid to top end, it still feels that ignition timing is within limits. Plus, if you're the original owner of the RC gts model you get their 2yr/$5k engine warranty upto 48k total odometer miles. IMHO if your are raising your stock boost levels in ANY way, by either a piggyback or ecu tune, you are Now-Boosted-More-Then-Stock and must follow/listen to actual experienced tuners advice (not any other) when they constantly say to use higher octane gas and tighten that spark plug gap! Sure the car may still run with neither in normal driving or a wot every now or then, but for how long? If you like bouncing off the rev limited more often, then people should listen to professional Tuners.
So on installation you don't have to plug anything into the obd port like the burgermotorsports jb4 ?
No obd2 connection with RaceChip just 2 plugs under the hood.
whats the best time you have gotten so far
13.70 on street and 13.65 at a dragstrip recently. Have latest video on my channel..
Nice. Mine has an evilla midpipe with magnaflow resonator and MBRP axle back. 2022 GT w/6MT
I like the Evilla midpipe. If I'll ever replace my exhaust it will be full Evilla.
@@beeswaxx3.8 I almost went that route with their axleback but got a solid deal on the MBRP for $400. I also preferred the quad tip to fill in the OEM tip openings on the bumper.
That was a good deal! Like that Evilla gives you options to customize mid & axle back to whatever resonators or mufflers you choose for that personalized sound.
@@beeswaxx3.8 yeah evilla is solid. I would have probably just went with their sport series resonator on the axle back if I had bought it. Could have also ordered different tips. But felt the MBRP would suffice for what I wanted for now. I have enjoyed it. ♠️
Where'd you get that spoiler?
Spoiler King, they carry 3 different designs for the Forte. They are all stick-on with high quality 3M tape.
@@beeswaxx3.8 does it cover up the holes for the screws? That was my problem in finding a good spoiler for the gt because they always left the screw holes visible
@@hunterfulton9866 The one I got barely covers the holes, but it does! No holes are visible from top. You'll need to align it perfectly tho. The material of their spoilers softens when heated and is very flexible to adjust. Once installed is pretty solid. I also used pieces of 'Flex Tape' underneath to cover the holes completely and ran a thin line of the 'Alecpea T-700' black adhesive glue across the outlines of spoiler on top to seal even better. After a couple heavy rain storms, it was completely dry in the trunk! An extra set of hands could be very useful installing it.
@@beeswaxx3.8 okay thank you man, I'll look into it. Thanks for the tips!
Yeah, it feels more like a racer than a sedan. Its a very fun car to drive with many of the latest tech installed it it from the dealer. Just an outstanding car for the first time young buyer. Its incredible. To bad its a kia. I still love it
Is it a manual?
DCT
I just put mine in today, took about 30 minutes, my car is a 23 GT 6 speed, started out on level 3 then moved it to level 5, level 5 with sport on it is definitely noticeable, they have a sale going right now, got it for 395$
That's a good deal for the GTS model. Got mine last Christmas for $399 from $499 (price back then) they had $100 off for the holidays.
@beeswaxx3.8 yep I also just ordered the mbrp exhaust from vividracing. Going to do a air filter and leave it alone
@@RyanJohnson-ft6qi that's all you really need and maybe one step colder spark plugs when you change them like the HKS M45XL or NGK ILKR9Q7G gapped no higher than .028 (my suggestion) I have very limited perf mods as you saw in the video and car runs great and it's a blast to drive.
Turning it up to 7 is where it's at, this little car can move, the mbrp exhaust sounds great, got to get the hks plugs and a high flow filter
those exhaust tips look wild lol
Best time I got in my Kia optima 1.6 turbo was 6.7 seconds wonder what the GTS race hip will have similar results
My best 0-60 ALL stock was 6.5s but the Forte is around 150-200lbs lighter then the Optima. You should see a noticeable difference with the RC.
I got 14.6 @ 96 from my wife's Soul with the racechip rs at 6000 ft elevation. Not sure how much quicker it is at low elevation
That's actually a pretty good improvement over a stock Soul 1.6t. Car & Driver had tested a 2021 Soul 1.6t w/dct and got 15.0s 1/4ml @95mph and 6.4s 0-60. Turbo cars respond better in higher altitudes then normally aspirated engines. www.garrettmotion.com/news/newsroom/article/how-to-turbocharge-at-elevation-counteracting-lower-air-density/#:~:text=At%20high%20elevations%20turbochargers%20compress,found%20only%20in%20turbocharged%20applications.
5.7 is very respectable in that car.
with just simple mods. car is running great. that was a 5.40s (1ft)
Are the spark plugs needed with the chip?
From what I've been reading some people are using the oem spark plugs. Upgrading them is also recommended though. You're better off asking the company or tuner you'll be purchasing the tune from.
Can you tell me where you ordered your Sprint Booster or provide the Product #? It doesn’t look like Sprint Booster offers anything specific for the 3rd gen Forte GT.
I originally purchased the Sprint Booster 4 years ago for my previous car a 2016 Genesis G80, part #SBRHY007 and plugged right up to my 2023 Forte GT and worked with no issues, connections were the same. Their website actually shows part #SBKIOO43S for 2018+ Forte/Cerato. Maybe email them to confirm. I originally had the Pedal Commander on my Genesis but the transmission responded better with the Sprint Booster. www.sprintboosterusa.com/product/sbki0043s-sprint-booster-select-v3/
Recently purchased a 2015 3.8 and have been wanting to install the V8 exhaust tips like you've done. How hard was the install and where could I find them?
The tips I used are AMG tips from ebay. They are wide, so you'll need to purchase the 5.0 lower rear panel/diffuser shown at 4:25 in video. Then you'll need to cut off the round holes so the tips go through the panel. www.ebay.com/itm/403677476827?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=mpo1zdglqx2&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=sT7ejUwyRX6&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
Or.. you can use these narrower tips and keep your original lower panel without cutting it. You'll need to unattach the original metal exhaust tips tho, so the new ones feed through. A good muffler shop can install these nice and even through the holes for any tips you'll use. www.ebay.com/itm/263563495737?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=Ytj5xlttSrq&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=sT7ejUwyRX6&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
@@beeswaxx3.8 Sweet, thanks for the reply!
Are u running lighter wheels/tires or just stock? And how much fuel u running on these pulls? Im a fan, staying tuned for more! 👊🏼
Thanks man 👊 running stock wheels on both of those video runs. Just recently installed new 18x8.5 rims with 265/35 tires and are 3-4lbs lighter each corner from oem setup.
Tf you got 265's to fit?! You must rub like crazy!
@@AMT_Ted Not at all !! it clears everything front and back, inside and out. Not lowered tho. I'm running the 18x8.5 with a +50 offset. I did a post on "Fortified" fb group showing photos of all suspension clearances if you ever go in there.

@@beeswaxx3.8 how's your mpg now?
how's the car been holding with the racechip?, I'm thinking of getting one for mine but want it to be good for daily driving
Holding up real good. I recommend it. I drive the car daily myself without any issues. Just follow the install instructions they provide and you'll be set
Traction control on? Because my 22 forte gt stock with traction off smokes the tires in 2nd gear when it shifts from 1st to 2nd literally smokes the tires 😂 im actually hesitant to do any tune because it feels great already i heard some of those race chip tunes dont even add anything 1 guy had to return it after 2 units where tested with no performance gains at all
JB4 Definitely adds power and upgrade tire to a 235
That is impressive 🤘😛🤘
Not as impressive as ur "King of the hill" 🥸🤙
Ish sounds great! I just bought a 2016 last month and I love that thing.........But, I love my 2012 better because it is more sporty on 22" wheels.
Thanks! Just give the 16 a little time and you'll love it. It'll ride even better on 22s the chassis has been stiffened up from gen 1.
@@beeswaxx3.8 Cool. I will those 2's on that bih soon.
Idk how to feel about those tips but the setup sounds nice! Would be even better with an upgraded resonator & muffler or res delete with an upgraded muffler.
Not 100% myself about the tips, but I already had them for my previous car which I never installed. They do fill-in those gaps perfectly though. Everyone is doing quad rounds. As for the sound, there's No better or worse. It's what sounds good to you as an owner! Was never looking for a louder exhaust or bov sounds, otherwise I knew exactly what I had to do. I'm a bit older so this is perfect for me 😎
Btw.. there's no need to ever upgrade an oem resonator, unless you're going bigger tubing. It is straight-through and flows just like any aftermarket one, but would outlast any of them. Deleting it completely, is another story.
Really enjoyed this especially the process photos along the way. Interesting setup. I’m running the XForce mid pipe
Hi, i am wonder if your xforce mid pipe and stock muffler too loud?
@@justinchu1417 Hi Mate, no it’s perfect. Gives a very nice sports note without being too loud like the full Xforce exhaust IMO. Gives those lovely up shift cracks but you can drive it so it doesn’t do it. Cold start is loud with lots of pops but that only goes for the 40sec or so during the warm up process. If you’re after most of the benefits without it being overkill I would highly recommend 👍
Hey mate, do you have any videos of the setup so i can have a listen because it doesn’t seem like anyone is running xforce mid pipe and stock muffler on youtube, so i can have a little expectation of what im getting into. Thanks
@@justinchu1417 nah no vids sorry mate. I watched heaps of videos on here prior to doing it and honestly the sound of videos is nothing like in person so I wouldn’t go by that. How loud do you want your car?
@@Hutchy86 not obnoxious and has a good note to it but can be a little loud if i give it, otherwise just don’t want it be be annoying loud 24/7 because it’s my daily
Nice man 👍 What do you think of those M45XL plugs?
Thanks man 🙏 Can't say much about them tbh, my oem ngk's only had 13k mls and were firing fine with stock tune. I just went with the trend and what most performance shops recommend after a piggyback or a tune. I only closed the gap from .028 to .025
@@beeswaxx3.8 I thought these were a direct fit with the GT. Why did you close the gap?
They ARE a direct fit and come pregapped @ .028, can also use them at that gap. However, most piggyback and ecu tuners recommend them between .026 - .022 for best performance, as I was researching.
@@beeswaxx3.8 haven’t heard that, I’ll have to do more research. Have you still got the Genesis or just rolling with the Forte now?
@@Hutchy86 just the Forte, much more fun then the Genesis for a daily. Check Burger Motorsports on those plugs, I believe they recommend them at .022 for their JB4 on the 1.6t
Very nice sound. Not obnoxious with reasonable amount of rumble.

You still have this car ? If not what do you have now? And what year is it and engine
Hey does your car shift at like 500 rpms ? I just got a genesis and it looks like mine is the only one that shifts around 200-300 rpms. I can’t find any other genesis that shifts like mine. It’s 2011 3.8
I have the exact same car just a 2015 AWD would these mods still work for my older model and it’s the Korean version
I don't see why not. 2015-17 model years were identical her in the states with 3.8 v6 and were all assembled in South Korea.
Anyways I could get in contact with you? My secondary cat is going out and id like to do this setup!
You can follow my IG and message me through there. instagram.com/bees_waxx_3.8/
Have you found any headlights or taillights at all, I have the same year genesis and I’m trying to see what other people got done. I’ve only had it for a little over a year but I cut the mufflers off and did a resonator delete and it sounds good, any advice or info on some stuff would be appreciated!
Haven't really looked into any headlights or taillights, but I've seen a few guys updating the headlights to newer g80 leds. If you're interested in any performance mods you can follow my IG and see what I've done instagram.com/bees_waxx_3.8/
Could I just buy an extra ecu to send in and get tuned or does it have to be the factory one?
BTR would still need your original ECU to copy onto the new/used one, but not sure if the oem can even get cloned for the 3.8 sedan. You'll need to ask Sam at BTR. I know the TCU you can buy outright without sending yours in.
@@beeswaxx3.8 sweet. Thanks man I'll email them.
Where did you get the throttle body?
Bought a used one on ebay and send it to MAXBORE.com to get bored/ported. They did an awesome job for a reasonable price! Check out my IG @ bees_waxx_3.8 for my mods and other useful info 🤙
Hey I kno this is a older post but wanted to ask how the 255 front and 295 rear setup rides for u? I have the 5.0 and going to change to the 20 and have been interested in a wider setup. Stock its 245F / 275R
I personally love the 20s the car even handles a little better without sacrificing much of the rid. My oem wheels are 18" compared to your 19s, so you'll sacrifice even less. 20x9 w/ 20x10.5 wheels are perfect fit for these cars. Try to have the offsets between 30-35 in front and 40-45 for rear if you go with same size tires as mine.
@@beeswaxx3.8 that's whats up bro! Thanks for the advice on that. I think those tire sizes will bring out the aggressive look while still keeping the luxury appeal
@@beeswaxx3.8 I'll be ordering them by the end of the week and I'll shoot u a pic once they come in and get installed
Hey I know this is old I just got this car. Curios how is the tune going . I wanna get faster than 6 secs
Is there a front wheel drive to the Genesis.
I believe all Genesis platforms are designed as RWD vehicles. They offer a AWD (HTRAC) transfer case as an option. But not just FWD.
Thank you.
How are you liking the car? My 2020 sonata maybe getting bought back due it being a lemon and I’m thinking about getting one of these.
any check engine lights with deleting the 2nd set of cats?
No, not at all! The secondery cats do not have o2 sensors or any other wiring connected to them to trigger the check engine light. They are only there to filter more exhaust gasses and be restrictive lol
@@beeswaxx3.8 thanks
thats so weird how theres zero sound when hes not revving it
where did u get the ram air ducts?
They are custom made pieces I got from ebay. One is routed through the front lower bumper and one underneath the front under-panel. Or you can get the Velossa snorkels for the 5.0 and make them fit. Either way it'll require some fabrications if you have a radiator shroud. You can find photos of my setup on my IG account @bees_waxx_3.8
@@beeswaxx3.8 thanks a lot man!!!
So I don’t have to buy the whole bumper for the quadruple tips ?
No, not the whole bumper just the lower black panel as you saw in the vid @ 4:25
Bro dope video! do you know what the numbers were when you dyno tuned it?
TY bro! Car was dyno-tuned last year in April of 2021. Base runs with AEM CAI and Exhaust were 258whp w/ 262wtq. After the tune, were 283whp w/ 294wtq. An increase of 25whp & 32wtq. Since then, I have thermo-wrapped the AEM aluminum intake tube and added 2 ram-air ducts to feed the air filter for colder air and IATs. Have also ported the throttle body, added a larger radiator with colder thermostat. Follow my IG @bees_wax_3.8 for more info..

Lol it does but with a deeper tone now that I've installed the 2 resonators up front instead of the secondery cats.
@@beeswaxx3.8 sounds dope doe bro💯
Remy, how you did that test? With or without pushed brake?
Gas paddle punch to the floor no brake
@@beeswaxx3.8 shame, with pushed brake and full gas will be better time for shure
@@Mathew1985mathew The car is much quicker now after the BTR dyno tune! Plus in this video I still had the stock air-box with original mufflers and 2" piping. Can't wait till the TCU tune is finalized by BTR! As for the brake hold, I don't like using it much cause of our weak trans.
