Plot first, but I'll definitely be prioritizing side content if it pops up! The game is clearly telling me that we're nearing the end, and I defintiely want to clear as much as possible.

Got a smidge of side stuff to wrap up before progressing the plot, but we're getting there! Spent some time clearing a few Reward Board items off-screen since the last plot run included a few bosses that were a bit stronger than I thought they would be.

I tried powering through to the next open part of the game, but failed. Hopefully this stream will be more successful! Gonna do a bit of streamlining my setups off-screen after this, to include a smidge of crystal farming so I can have some better setups.

Love RS2 a lot, so I'm sure this'll be good! The demo is great, but it unfortunately ends a bit before the game opens up. Classic difficulty is defintiely challenging, so I'm looking forward to the full release! I'll likely start over though.

Going back at it, hopefully finding some items - but be prepared for a lot of flailing around while I look for these things! Lots of progress, although finding the last few secrets are going to be a pain, especially in the minecart stage. I hate minecart stages.

Aww, cute. <3 Lars finally became useful and even got married to a little Japanese girl kind of like how he's apparently a big otaku or something. :p And... it looked like they took a giant ladder to the moon or something...? :? Sigh... seems like it didn't last very long though, leaving you and all. :( Now it's back to your other party members, like your own mom and Punch Tanaka, having already redeemed himself. :p
Man, these boss fights are getting longer and longer. :p Sure it's pretty plot important and should be kind of tough, but yeah, I think that was like 20 minutes or so, give or take some cutscenes and stuff. :p

Weird, that alien dog boss fight or whatever sounds like it should be a mandatory plot important battle, but it kind of feels more like an optional one. :p I thought you were trying to solve a murder and all the suspects should be rounded up in that one building...? :? Yeah, weird. :p

This does not look like Universe difficulty. I died several times on this boss and I've seen many streamers playing this game on Universe difficulty that also died a lot on this boss, so something does not add up with your video.
Trust me, I never change the difficulty on any of these videos! This video was streamed straight from start-to-finish with no breaks here on UA-cam. The usual difference between my playthrough early and a lot of others' that I've seen is that they either don't take the time to do better setups or simply don't understand what a lot of the skills do. For example, I rarely see anyone get No Guard early on Raymond, which is a really dumb move IMO. A lot of players also don't seem to go for auto-heal early, which is also a bad idea for early-game before you get Nina. Also, many seemed to do a bad job reading/understanding the tutorials, and often don't effectively use the tools they have at their disposal in-combat. Basically, a lot of people have not played Star Ocean before (or forgot most/many of past combat mechanics), which usually makes them have a bad time in Universe early!
Why did you switch out Cyan for Edgar?
As I think you'll see in the video, Edgar has much higher utility in Zozo (IMO). Lots of human enemies, and Bioblaster cleans them up pretty well (in addition to applying a status effect when it doesn't).

I appreciate that you played this with English voice acting. Makes it much less a pain to lean over every two seconds to read whatever was just said. Yes, I know you said you didn't like the English voice acting, but I must disagree with that. I don't speak Japanese though, so perhaps Japanese could be better. Still, I wouldn't knock their efforts with the English dialogue here.
To be fair, I did unintentionally selected the 2 characters (Duran, Hawkeye) with easily the best VA's for this playthrough. The remaining 4 - especially Kevin and Charlotte - are much, much worse than this. That's not meant to be a hit on the script, which isn't stellar, but hews close to the SNES script.
@@kruckster In your opinion, perhaps. ...Though Hawkeye was my main, and I did enjoy his quips the most, especially the one about the party catching a cold the would occur in winter zones. C=

So I unfortunately didn't realize I didn't hit the record button when I **thought** I was at the start of the next video until after I was done with the fight. It was definitely a slog (Oldtim, Momo, and Peco barely made it), and I didn't want to repeat it just to get video capture (and possibly lose a bunch more times), so I just kept going! Sorry!
@@kruckster Was using Peco helpful? What was the tactics you used? I am really struggling to get past him.
@@hemiodonnell1347 Peco was helpful in that he has some good elemental resistances and a lot of HP (even more than usual in my case, because, as you my have seen, I built him as a support tank). Barkshield and his healing spells are also always helpful, doubly so if you make sure to build in a generous helping of speed increases and manage his equipment to make him even faster. The real strategy you should use, which I only saw later (after muscling my way through), is generous use of mind flay to lower his Int in conjunction with the standard Barkshield/Shield + Barrier combo. If you approach him this way, it becomes much more manageable.

I've seen Zheal play it, but I think he has a much different playstyle than me. I don't mind *watching* speedruns, but I usually like to go very slow and deliberate when I play games.

I appreciate the compliment, but TBH it didn't take much effort on my part. I just used the basic recording software I have on my computer! And the extra title is because this is a mod of FF6 called Brave New World. It makes a lot of changes to the original's gameplay, enemy AI, and some limited changes to the script (without really changing the story). IMO it's really the definitive version of FF6 and maybe my second favorite mod after FF7: New Threat.
