Love it! Yeah, this is great but I don't hear the connection to SD's "Gaucho". OTOH listen to the opening vamp to Horace Silver's "Song for my Father" released in 1965 and let me know if it reminds you of anything released in the 1970's lol?

I had the albums Gaucho and Belongings for years and years and wow, stupid me never realized these two songs were almost identical! Admire both Steely Dan and the GREAT Keith Jarret, legends

Never knew Garbarek was with Jarrett back in the day. I can see some common grooves here with Gaucho, but Keith should have been a bit more cool with Kid Charlemagne duo :)

Hmm, this sounds like a jazz version of Gaucho to my ears. "What I tell you back down the line, I steal your song, you can steal mine". Funny thing about Gaucho it's all triads, the only chord with an accidental is the very last one.
