    Keith, I thoroughly enjoyed the video and plan to incorporate many of the techniques into an upcoming project. I wish you had more woodworking videos - I'd watch them for sure.

    Keith, it appears this question has already been asked, but wanted to see if you have the design template available to share/sell for the pedestal legs (including top and bottom supports). Thanks in advance

      Hi, appreciate the question. I don’t have the template anymore but in the context of the actual video, there’s a large picture of my measuring pieces with dimensions. The table top length is kind of up to you, but I also mention in my video a finish length dimension was about 105 inches. If you have more questions feel free to give me a call at 909-815-9481.

      There is a guy on youtube "designs by donnie" who makes and sells pedestal templates.

    Why didn't you finish the bottom of the table?

    I must say, anybody looking at that table, will think it's no less than 5k. Tremendous job.

    These style legs are called Trestle’s, and the stand that they sit on are the pedestals. Beautiful work though, I love it!

    What’s a good blade size and tooth number for cutting pedestal legs? I just got a new bandsaw and I really want to try this out.

    Why didn't you seal the underside? You're gonna have issues

    • @keithszaronos7312
      @keithszaronos7312 3 роки тому

      Not sure what issue you’re referencing? I stained the underside immediate perimeter board and then I sealed everything with the poly. I liked it two tone with the unstained portion with the stained.

    Thanks for the comment Matt. I sanded up in varying degrees up to about a 220. I used mini wax stains and a mixture of 50/50 ebony and expresso. Then I proceeded with about 5 coats of a satin polyurethane which was also min wax. The key I feel on my top is that it is as smooth as glass, was to sand again moving up from each coat to lighter sanding coat, wiping down with tac cloth and again wiping down with a clean cloth with some mineral spirits on it. Then repeat. My last time I I put a coat furniture wax and worked it into the then dry finish. Thoroughly cleaned it and rubbed it out lightly.

    excuse my ignorance but how are you cutting that laminated block when the resaw height is 6 inches? I know nothing about band saws and how they are sized but I would like to purchase one in the future. Any tips would be helpful.

    • @keithszaronos7312
      @keithszaronos7312 3 роки тому

      My bandsaw from grizzly has a height kit extension on it. My saw cut height is really about 12 to 13”

      What size bandsaw 14” ? Did you glue and screw the pocket pieces to the underside: how do you take into consideration the wood moving?

    Great video and appreciate the pedestal build and how you built without the spanner between. Table is very classy and bold. Good point with vacuuming and kicking the spanner, always in the way for sure. Question on the panel glue ups with screwing the poplar frame and pedestal into the panel top, are you seeing any issues with wood expansion causing any bowing? I built an edge grain walnut island counter top and glue plywood underneath and experienced a ton of bowing so I am now hesitant to secure anything that prohibits expansion. Is there a method you used for securing the poplar to the panel? Thank you!

    Jason, the pedestal base itself is just about eight three-quarter inches square before I cut it. If you’re talking the actual legs with the pedestal base those run about 32”

  • @jasonmccormick8250
    @jasonmccormick8250 3 роки тому

    What dimensions did you use for the base?

    • @keithszaronos7312
      @keithszaronos7312 3 роки тому

      The actual pedestal base at floor is 32” wide. Pedestal itself is 8 3/4” wide.

    Sorry I didn’t see your message earlier. I had no problem with the boats slipping. As I glued them (they fit really nicely) I made sure they were straight and put some quick screws in them

    Great video. Did you have any trouble with the boards slipping for the pedestal glue up? I like the idea of already having the tenon cut in the middle piece. Was thinking of doing the same thing on a future project of mine.
