Completely different from our last visit from game warden. He unloaded, loaded, and unloaded every shotgun. Pulled every bird from our vests. Checked our ice chests. He was respectful but very thorough. This was in Ackerly, North of Big Spring.
Thank you for this my friend, relocating temporarily to MD Anderson which is near the area you mentioned. So this was very helpful to us and desperately appreciated! Going to get on these to-do’s right now.

Yo, saw you Saturday at Mcguire. We got a spike, took us an hour to drag it back to the car. Get 500 yards past the bridge and there's a clearing or two and you can get up in a tree. Saw a few does between 4-6pm, nothing in the mornings. Bring a sled or plan on quartering it in the woods. Good luck!
@@NathanChristensen-k9f that’s awesome man! Glad to hear something came out of there! I’m headed there in the morning with my oldest daughter so not walking in too deep. Not much on the cams but still gonna try it out with this cold front! Thanks for watching and best of luck the rest of the season!
I was out there today.. LOTS of hunters! I saw a total of 4 bucks.. 2 main frame 8's that were legal-jumped both of them while walking in.. Then a yearling 6 point-NOT LEGAL.. and then at the very end of the sit I saw one more buck but only saw the left side of his face, and his left side antler in a gap between two trees so never really got a GOOD look at him.. Gonna say he was NOT legal either... But.. I at least know where I'm hunting tomorrow for one of those BIG 8's! this was the highest # of bucks I've ever seen in a single day... Ever.. Usually you will only see a buck one time during the entire hunting season.. I counted 12 rifle shots in the 3.5 hours I was on my stand... It's crazy out there.. Stay safe!
@@Go69 sounds like you got a GOOD spot! I’ve laid eyes on a legal buck in the Sam twice in the 4yrs I’ve been hunting! Keep at it and good luck! Thanks for watching!

You did good brother. I dont know much about rifles and sighting in. I just bought a Savage Storm. I've been looking at Leupold scopes for it. Im definitely gonna have to have someone show me or watch some youtube videos on sighting in. 😂
@@nhk_outdoors it’s not too hard at all and there’s a few ways to go about it. Usually if you buy it from a retail store they’ll mount it for you. Can’t wait to see the rifle hunting vids!
I guess my question is this: why didn't you mount and bore sight the rifle yourself. They aren't going to do anything you can't do. The gentleman doing the work on your rifle is definitely "old school" as he put all his might into tightening those base screws, then doing the same on the rings mounting screws (they are probably aluminum and easly stripped out). Then aligning the cross hairs straight, he did it for his eyesight and mounted the eye relief with a measuring stick instead of letting you set the eye relief for yourself with the rifle mounted to your shoulder (after all, it's you that will be shooting it). Then he uses the torque wrench on the rings to base screws (too late, he already tightened them to the point of breaking) but he did correctly torque the scope ring screws and went over the others but it was too late, they were already tightened way past torque limits, so that was worthless. "Old School" can definitely shoot though. You, not so much. You wasted all that ammo and never raised POI up to the bullseye. That last shot was probably the result of a hot barrel. Nobody lays the rifle across their arm like that shooting out of a box. And you won't either. You will do like all of us do: off a sand bag, rifle case, or towel or just holding the rifle in the palm of our hand. Just some things to think about. Good learning video. Love the rifle/color/scope combo. With that muzzle break, looked like recoil of a 270/308, not a 7Mag. Good luck.
Thanks for watching brother! Good luck out there!
Just to be clear, we use a ruler and hand tighten screws down, to start, then let the customer throw it up and check if we need to rotate the scope or change the eye relief for their preferences/stance/grip etc, adjust if needed, and then torque it down once we know they're happy with it :)
@ and happy I was! 🙏🏽

@ABetterOutdoors I've been hunting there since 92. Know them woods like the back of my hand. Killed a lot of deer and hogs there. For the price, well worth it. Be blessed, brother.
@ thanks my friend! Do you still hunt out there?
@ABetterOutdoors I do. I live in the hill country now, but I head down there every December for a week. I've killed some really nice bucks there. Secret is to hunt where no one else does. Hunting pressure moves them deep into the woods. Think about it. Most people will keep tromping the same ares over and over so the deer relocate where no sightings or human scent is found. I set my GPS and take off into the unknown. It's a hike, but well worth it. It's very rare I don't get a legal buck, but I always see deer and countless hogs.
Sam houston will humble you. Lots of deer out there but you gotta find them, i prefer to hunt alabama creek wma over sam but i live closer to sam so i hunt it when i feel like it. I fish lake conroe alot and on the bank opposite side of scotts ridge boat ramp, i always see deer feeding there. Right on the banks. On a map it looks like you can take stubblefield road 204 to get there, or hike in. Ive never hunted it but its worth a shot. Ive counted 12 deer there once. Never fails to see them out there before sunset
