We rented a Yurt for a winter getaway in Fundy National Park; Ep 1/24
We had the most fun ever when we rented a Yurt in January.
Come explore Fundy National Park in January with us.
Anna (AKA Mom) surprised us with a trip to a winter wonderland for my (Barry) birthday. She managed to reserve the only pet friendly Yurt in the Headquarters campground.
We wanted to share our fun filled trip, plus all the information on what you can expect so that you will can plan your own trip to this winter fun land.
While we were there, we cooked over a wood stove in the kitchen structure. We rented snow shoes and went on a snowy hike. We also checked out the winter light decorations.

Our factory Dometic 300 series toilet stunk us right out of our travel trailer. I tried the so called "Fix" that you will see on other UA-cam channels. THEY DO NOT WORK!!! We stayed there once. Where they put us, the sites were way too close to our neighbors, and we had no privacy because the sites were facing each other. I prefer a very private site. Maybe we would've liked it more if they gave us a better site. I guess I just prefer state park campgrounds where they're not so congested like a bunch of packed in sardines.

The wife and I have a 2018 Minilite 2104S with the murphy bed. I actually had ours rebuilt and replaced six of screws on each side of the hinge to the aluminum cross member with bolts. The screws were coming loose over time and was concerned that it would not hold up with the weight of the bed with the long trips we were taking. If I could recommend anything, I would say to try to stay on the beach side closer to the main office. Those sites are the easiest to access the beach

Sorry for the late reply. We absolutely loved our stay here. Anna and I wished that we had some Kayaks to paddle around on. The trails we spectator to hike!!!

I ‘discovered’ this park in 1999 and have camped there three more times since there, in the fall. That’s why we hardly saw any other campers-even though our drive-in campsites were not very secluded (#214 in 2011), we always enjoyed plenty of privacy as nobody else was camping around. The park itself is indeed “in the middle of nowhere”-for most people (including us) it’s an advantage, but some prefer parks located closer to ‘civilization’. During our last trip we decided to take advantage of its interior, water-accessible campsites and in September, 2013 spent a week camping on a lovely campsite straddled between two lakes, just 15 minutes of paddling from the parking lot. The small lake-which I think used to be a bay of Stormy Lake and the beavers had turned into a lake by building a solid dam separating the two bodies of water-had a lot of beaver lodges and we often paddled there, especially in the morning. As a bonus, there was a small sandy beach in front of the beaver dam. We also paddled on Stormy Lake, just after the sunrise, when the rising mist was so thick that we could hardly see anything around us. We also loved canoeing in the middle of the night-we were always leaving a flashing light on our campsite so we could easily find our way back. Unlike you, we never did any of the hiking trails. Several years ago I watched a movie called “Backcountry” and quickly realized that the scenery looked quite familiar. Indeed, several initial scenes were filmed in Restoule Provincial Park in the fall of 2013-more-less at the time we were camping there! In fact, our campsite was located just across the lake, vis-à-vis the parking lot from which the couple in the movie departs on their wilderness trip (and where we’d put in); our campsite was even visible from afar in the movie!

I've visited this park well over 20 times since the early 1990s, last time in August, 2021 (and I stayed on the campsite next to yours). It's a nice park, close to Toronto, has a number of easy trails and some campsites offer a lot of privacy and very nice views. I might visit this park this year again, but at this moment most parks are 100% full over weekends.

We really enjoyed our stay there. Unfortunately it rained most of our time there so we didn't get to go on any hikes. We were impressed with the dog beach. Most parks that section of the beach is not very nice for people. If we didn't have a trailer we would love to camp on the hike in sites, especially the ones up on top of the rocks on the hill Thank you for your input

If you're looking to get away from the traffic noise, try booking a site back in the Maple loop. It's further away from the highway and much quieter there.
