MFT is fantastic. I use my G9 alongside Canon FF and Fujifilm. I reach more for the G9 probably 80% of the time. I have 10 MFT lenses. The 12-40mm is a fantastic EDC. My favourite primes: - Panasonic Leica 15mm and 25mm - Olympus 45mm and 75mm f1.8. - Other zooms: 75-300mm: amazing reach for the size and cost; and LUMIX 14-140mm f3.5 - 5.6 if you want a travel super zoom one stop shop. Enjoy!

Just found your channel, great video. I don’t live far from Enders Falls but have never been there, your video has inspired me to give it a go. I have the 40-150mm pro and can definitely recommend it, works well with the 1.4x converter also. Another lens to consider might be the 12-100mm pro, it’s my go to travel lens when I know I won’t be trying to photograph wildlife. Keep up the good work!

Excellent camera. I have the EM-1, E-M10MK IV (recently sold) and the OM-1. I am primarily a travel photographer and they have been so, so good.

Would like to have been able to see your shots for more than a second or two. You cut away as soon as or before you zoomed out to the full shot. Disappointing in that regard! Thanks for sharing and I imagine after some rain those falls become even more spectacular. Nice work.

Great shots! I really enjoyed the video all the way through and down (and up again) that beautiful waterfall. On a side note I am amazed how different the symbols on the screen of your OM-1 II look compared to the OM-5 and the Olympus cameras that I am used to. Do you know the Carly Simon song "The Wives Are In Connecticut"? You're probably too young. Doesn't matter, I just wish I were there too. I'd go to Enders Falls. :D

Great images, Joe. I love Enders Falls. Fortunately it's nearby for me. I went there 3 years ago to take some autumn shots and there was a lot more flow back then. Crossing over to the other side of the river definitely gives you the best vantage points. Harder to do when there's a lot more water flow. We never did get down to the bottom to your '4th' waterfall, although I've seen photos of it and have been wanting to get to that one and get some images from the middle of the river. Your '5th' waterfall is one of my favorites (well, the bottom one I think would be if I ever get to that one). When there's more water flow it's a lot more spectacular as there's another stream coming from the top to the left of where the flow is in your images - pretty much in front of that tree at the top and it comes funneling through between those two rocks. I took my shots from a few feet further downstream to include a couple of rocks sticking out of the river for a foreground. There's also another waterfall that I'm not sure if I saw in your video. As I recall it's visible from the top of your '5th' waterfall. There's plenty of rock formations up there to set yourself up on. It's not a large waterfall but it's pretty nice. It's mainly a cascading waterfall over a series of rocks and dumps into a pool of water. If interested I can send you an image so you can try to find it the next time you go.

I dont remember if I was at Enders Falls this year or not. I understand the need for the new boardwalk and stairs, but it does hamper getting some of the better angles f the falls. Great video can't wait for the next one!

I always struggle with long exposure ,especially with water ,that's why i dont take a lot. Like me, you went from Nikon to om-systems. I dont regret a thing , although after selling my Nikon gear, i chose the om-5, which suits my style . I am looking forward to learning a lot about waterfall and long exposure photography . Good tip with the quick access to the ND filter.. You have a nice relaxing presents and enthusiasm. 👍

For the price, this lens is exceptional value. Images you get from this is very good. Tamron has improved their quality tremendously, compared to their lens 20 years ago. I think now that Sony practically owns Tamron, the R&D and QC on all of their new lenses are just as good as the native lens

Om1 or eos r6? I primarily shoot small waves in handheld longexposures. Love the om1 already but i‘m worried that the r6 is better in low light Situations and has more dynamics in the shade of the Breaking wave

Great video - you are talking about weight, so why go for the 40-150 f:2.8 PRO, When their 40-150 f:4.0 PRO is 99% as sharp as the F:2.8?

Great decision young man , i have been with Olympus -OM systems since the em-3 i now have the OM-5, the OMD-EM1x and the OM-1 with the 12-40 2.8 pro the 40-150 2.8 pro ,a 25 1.8 pro and a 60mm macro lens all of which are awesome lenses . I do also have a Nikon D850 with a 24-70 2.8 and a 70-200 2.8 which i also love for different reasons . My favourite saying is it doesn’t matter which camera you use because these days there really isn’t a bad one just bad users , if you work at being a good story teller then every camera will work so just get out and shoot. Funny thing is I still have/use the 2010 Olympus EPL1, the 2012 EPL5 and EM5 and they have been in the Philippines, Japan, Singapore, Canada and all across the USA and all 3 still work flawlessly.

Congratulation Joe on your new camera. I shoot full frame in the early 80’s film. Then fall back to a few film point and shoot. During the digital age I do canon powershot then to the APS-C Nikon, full frame was just too expensive back then. Few years back I switch to MFT using the Olympus Pen series then to the last Olympus camera the OMD EM1 Mk III with 12 - 40 2.8 Pro an a couple of primes. The OM System I believe is the newer manufacturer that took over Olympus camera divisions. The Olympus camera features is superb and most important to me as a biker, it is small and light weight. Hope you have great time and make many photos.

I'm in the same situation you (were)-I’ve been eyeing OM System cameras for nearly two years but haven’t had a chance to try them in person since I don’t have a good camera store nearby. I’m torn between the OM-5 (or maybe the E-M1 Mark III) for its compact size and affordability, and the OM-1 for its feature set. I'd be interested in your thoughts comparing the 2. What made you decide on the OM1 (for you) in the end? Thanks.

I have had almost every camera known to man over the years, looking for the perfect one of course. My first decent one was the Olympus Em1 and recently I returned to the fold with the OM1. I can actually afford good quality lenses for it, it’s light and small and the image quality is very good. I hope no one else catches on because I don’t want prices to rise. Let’s keep it quiet 😊

I just sold all of my Sony Gear in September and now have the OM1 Mk1, and I am absolutely loving it! I love the smaller form factor, mainly of the lenses. Live Composition is amazing, so is star AF

Great video, I can feel the excitement. I know how it feels although I have been using Olympus for 10 years now. Not even two months ago I bought the OM-5, upgrading from my two OM-D E-M10s, also buying a couple of pro lenses - and a grip which makes it as big as the OM-1 I guess. ;D The only pro lense I had before was the 12-40 (v.1), and I am really happy with it. I shot two weddings with it, not even needing a flash. I got the 7-14 pro, the new 20 pro and the 40-150 pro (f4), all of them brilliant lenses. I can also recommend the 17 1.8, the 25 1.8 and the 45 1.8, the ones I've used the most up to now (they fit nicely with the small E-M10), oh and the 60 2.8 macro. I use the 75-300 to shoot the moon. You see, I'm fully equipped. And I am far from being professional. At 50, I just started using RAW files for the first time and getting acquainted with Lightroom and Negative Lab Pro for all the old films I shot with my Nikon SLRs back in the day. Really looking forward to whatever you're doing with your OM-1 II!

Joe , thanks for sharing! I've had omdem5markiii for few years now with 12x45 f4 pro lens and have zero complaints only to say my wish list is all those pro lenses. My next lens choice for myself would be 40x150 f.4 pro for family pics and grandchildren daylight sports . My question to you is how much larger om1 vs om5 and your opinion on differences in size and features. Best of luck! Jack.

Hi very interesting video - which is the sharpest Tamron 59-400 or Nikon 28-400?

When the camera is "busy" the multiple image is taken and you can move it without problems!

Are you sure you need to hold on the camera still shooting High Res shots? Is the “Busy” time just for the camera to combine and process the multiple exposures into one single shot?

That was interesting. Some say it doesn't matter which camera you use but I enjoy seeing others talk about their choices and the reasons why. You also have a cool way of explaining basic stuff. It's just a pleasure to listen to you.

What a great, uplifting and inspiring video. I wish there were waterfalls half as beautiful as the one you've been to in the area where I live ... in the middle of Berlin, Germany. ;D I got my first Nikon SLR in 1986 but switched to Olympus ten years ago. I needed something smaller and wanted something that looked like a camera from when I was young. The OM-D E-M 10 was perfect. A month ago I bought the OM-5 and I am super happy with it, now watching different people on UA-cam showing me many possibilities of how to use it beyond my usual ways, so thanks for your enthusiasm. The only downside about the OM-5 is the small battery. I have two spare ones whenever I go shooting. I'll go and watch some of your other videos now. Keep it up!

On the High Res Handheld, you don't have to hold it steady once its showing Busy, I love my OM-5, moved from FF Sony :-)

Love your enthusiasm! Someone already mentioned it but the high-res shot is very fast, the processing just takes a wile. I have both the OM-1 and the OM-5. I love the OM-1 because it is so good at just about everything (high-res processing is much faster, stronger ND filters and so on) but my go to camera is the OM-5. Less than the OM-1 but for 95% of all cases more than enough. I have been using this camera for over a year now with days of up to 12 hours of shooting in sometimes very extreme weather (hot, wet, cold), but it keeps running and it doesn't show any wear at all. To me the grip is one of the best features of this camera. For such a small camera it is brilliant.

Beautiful photos. The camera may “take” them but first an artist has to “see” them, regardless of type of equipment. I had shot Canon for decades until a few years ago when I was introduced to Olympus (now OM Systems). What a joy to use…and smaller, lighter while saving some $ on comparable gear. And the innovations in OM System cameras really open up creative possibilities. Nice intro to a couple of them. Enjoy. Cheers.

Thanks for a good video. I have been an Olympus (now OM-System) user for many years (since 1975 when I got my first OM-1). But one thing makes me wonder - why choose an expensive lens that does its best full open for landscape photography where you're using f:8.0 and so? I have their 8-25mm f:4.0 and mostly shoot landscapes, and as a zoom lens it is really good - although not at the level of a top-prime. I have the first OM-1 and if finances allowed, I would switch to the mkII, just because of its LiveGND, which unfortunately does not come to mine.

I have the Olympus OMD M5 III which I love. However, the OM5 is not much more than a new logo and firmware update so I'm sticking with the M5. There is a rumor that there is an OM5 mark II on the way. If they add a USB-C port I may upgrade.

thank you for sharing your experience with Om-system and especially with the 5. I think the 20 megapixel photos are the sharpest. Make no mistake, there are 20 megapixels on a censor that is half the size of a full frame. the more pixels there are on a censor. the faster you will have problems with noise, among other things. otherwise very nice photos

I have an OMD EM1 MK3 and can hold 2 second shots

Waterfall Joe, like the name! Some nice shots you got there. I bleed Nikon and I'll always be a Nikon man and have been since 1975, but another photographer I've followed on UA-cam tried the OM-5 last year and has been singing it's praises, and a few weeks ago I added an OM-5 with the 12-45mm to my quiver of Nikons! I haven't yet put it into the field in a serious way, but I will soon. However, that being said I have immediately become a huge fan. I as well, now and even in my youth, have never been a reliably stable shooter and growing up began shooting medium and large format sheet film ALWAYS on a tripod before my father let me use one of his Nikon F's. I've always shot from a tripod because of the discipline it forces upon everything from composition to patience in the entire approach to photography. In the quote, Old Days, when film was dear and you had to carry film holders/magazines, changing bags and boxes of film along with your camera and tripod, you learned patience and discipline because you couldn't waste film on possibilities. The tripod forced you to edit in your head and make decisions about what you'd shoot and what you'd only admire and leave un-shot. You still got images that didn't measure up but that's always been the case. I just have more of them now that I'm ALL digital. I too, LOVE the OM-5 and I haven't yet really used it. I continue to shoot with all my Nikons, my 850's, 800E for IR, and my Zed 7's, but this little gem, the OM-5 sits among them as an equal. It's the most nearly PERFECT little walk around and travel set up with the 12-45mm that I've ever held in my very large hands and still it's pleasantly easy to handle.

I find the ND is great! Focus stacking is amazing for macro.
