What’s been your favourite parkrun so far?
@@Ruffnreddyrunner Difficult to say but i would say the most memorable are Sherwood Pines... a lovely one lapper through woodland. Frickley Country... for the crazy zig zag hill and views from the top. Huddersfield.... for its Mariokart type course, and of course Bushy Park. Haven't done any filming in the last few months as i have had a break from touristing but may do a few more new ones next year so will probably film them. Thanks for watching.
Excellent video, thanks. I'm heading to Brierley tomorrow for the first time 👍🏃♂️
@@markg99 Hope the weather is good for you. Have fun.
@@theaverageparkrunner cheers. Just finished. It was a chilly start but soon got warm on the run 🏃♂️
Lovely course and a great bunch of people
not to put anyone off visiting, but this is definitely up there with the hardest courses I've done!
@@maisieallen7185 Try Barnsley!
Thank you for this. I am travelling to London next week for the 1000th Bushy parkrun and it was very useful to get a view of the course from on-the-ground like this!
Thank you, plan on trying this one out tomorrow. Appreciate that video a lot 👍
@@WinningInters Thanks for watching. I think you will enjoy it.
Top job
Thanks for watching
Great stuff. I was there on the day, filming my first ever parkrun. It was a good course. I didn't realise anyone else was filming. I felt a bit daft with the gopro on my chest 😅
I've got an insta GO3 . That just clips to my cap . Still looks a bit daft though !
Looked a great place to do a parkrun, that guy really gave it some beans at the end 😂😂
Yes , there was no way I was catching him 😂
Nice course, Interesting video! Thank you! 😊🏃👍🏻
Thanks for watching
Nice video! Poolsbrook is #53 on my NENDY list but will have to bump it up higher. Have done Brierley Forest and Clumber Park nearby
Thanks for watching. It's not a bad 3 lapper . Bit of a bottleneck at the beginning but ok after that. Decent cafe and free parking and easy to get to from the M1. Clumber and Brierley Forrest are nice. Have you done Sherwood Pines ? That's probably my favourite. 1 lap all through woodland.
@@theaverageparkrunner Not yet but am starting to work my way through the many ones around Nottingham and have done neighbouring Bestwood Village. Will have to check out your videos of Sherwood Pines!
Well done Paul, looks like a very nice location, can’t beat running around a lake or along a river😊
Thanks. It's one of my local(ish) ones . Less than 30mins away.
Great to have you back, a great video thank you so much
Thanks. I think I may do the videos fortnightly from now on. It's nice to just go and do a parkrun without worrying about filming me talking to myself !!
Great to see you back, and we're glad you're feeling well enough for a run again 🏃♀️ Clumber Park parkrun is a personal favourite as it's such a lovely course, and a great café at the end
Thanks, yes I have missed doing clumber. Went back today but didn't film. Think I am going to do 50/50 with filming and not. It's nice to just turn up and not have to worry about talking to myself on camera 😂
Hi Paul, welcome back, glad you’re feeling better. Looks like a nice Parkrun at Clumber, agree about the tree cover, I did Worden last week and Witton this morning, both benefit from tree cover😊
Thanks, yep all good now. Didn't film today though. Think I may film fortnightly from now on. It's nice to just go and do a parkrun and not worry about the filming. I will catch up on your last couple of vids over the weekend.
Nice video! My local parkrun, I live in Worksop. I saw myself quite a lot on your video, I think I finished about half a minute before you, warm wasn't it.
Thanks for watching. Yes it was a warm one. I went back today as well but didn't film today. It's definitely one of my favourites and I don't live too far away.
Surprised I didn't see you, I was there too, I think it was my 98th today, the majority at Clumber. I really need to do some 'Tourism'
Looks like a really nice one!
Yes it's a really good one in great surroundings.
Ive raced at holme pierpoint so many times and never knew there was a race course so close. Learn something new every day 👌
The car park was right next to the racecourse. Lovely parkrun, shame there wasn't a proper cafe on site though.
Great running as always 🔥🔥
Thanks
You see so many Redhill Road Runners on Nottingham parkruns
Yes I think I saw a couple of Redhill vests. Thanks for watching
@@theaverageparkrunner great video
@@WinningInters thanks
Fantastic POV vid, one of the best I’ve seen for sussing out a course before I run it, thanks mate! 👍
Thanks for watching and for your kind comments
Great run! 😊👏🏻 Movement is life! Well done! 🙂🏃👍🏻
Thanks
Looks like i will be looking for a flatter letter R 😂😂 Good Work
Rother Valley is a good flat letter R. My local one.
Looks like a really nice Parkrun Paul, it seemed to have inclines in places, maybe it was the camera angle? Keep up the good work😊
Yes it was a very good one. There was just one incline that I can remember, which I put in the run clips, but it wasn't much.
Looked like a great parkrun, sorry to hear about the wardrobe malfunction with the shoes 😂😂 but maybe sketchers are the way forward, thanks for taking us along
I am convinced the sketches are quicker !! Thanks for watching
On my list of Parkruns to do
It was quite a good one. Nice park , but you need deep pockets if you visit the cafe !!
@@theaverageparkrunner I don't normally have time to visit cafes as I have to get back to go to work. Cross Flatts near Leeds has a nice cafe in park and is pretty cheap though
Cross Flatts is on my list. If I don't get fed up of all the travel first.
@@theaverageparkrunner ha there is always that !! What's your nearest Parkrun ?
Either Rother Valley or Clumber , both 15mins away. I did a sub 22 at Rother Valley. (in a former life!!) . Still got to film a run at Poolsbrook which is about 20mins away. And not done Graves or Hillsborough in Sheffield which are also 30mins max. So got those to do.
Wow! That’s an expensive cafe! 😮
Yep, and they tried to charge me twice 😂 . Let's just say I won't be going back.
The hill of Doom!! 7:45
Yes it would have been better if I only had to run up it once but it wasn't too bad. No where near as bad as Barnsley. And Cusworth Hall in Doncaster is still the steepest hill I've had to do. Thanks for watching .
It’s Parkrun Day, love that opener😀I’ve done Roundhay, did pretty well for me, 26:30 and it’s a killer with that long climb 3 times!
26:30 is very good. I was 2 minutes slower and I gave it my best shot. I think I have to accept that I just can't do hills very well anymore.
@@theaverageparkrunner Don’t worry Paul, based on my recent performances I doubt I’d do that time again😊
i will be doing the run though events half marathon there are week on sunday love roundhay park
Yes , it's a lovely park. Expensive cafe though !!
Been a very wet start to the year. Still great to get out into the fresh air and clean out the soul. Best wishes on the next.
Thank you, I did my first T-shirt parkrun of the year today so hopefully the weather is now moving in the right direction. Won't be long before we are all complaining it's too hot 😂
Great video! Off to Norfolk in our caravan soon so will do this parkrun. Now, I must go and buy some Skechers 😂😂
Thanks, it just shows you that you don't need fancy running shoes 😄 . I've had those sketches for a few years. It's a nice parkrun to do , whatever footwear you have on. Thanks for watching.
Hi Paul, you did really well with the camera and the Skechers, I’d be happy in the 26s at the moment. I’ve been to Blickling but not to run there, we’re long term NT members and that is a stunning place, it looks amazing in the sun. I did Lytham Hall last Saturday, weather was superb😊
@@AndyCliffMTBI was a bit slower today. I will watch your Lytham video later , it's one I may try and fit in one day when I am heading over to Blackpool.
Good luck out there. Spring is finally on its way. Been a wet one!
Yep. Looking forward to running in just a t-shirt
Bet its wild running that course in bad weather🙈 Looks like you had the weather on your side 👌
Yes it was definitely a good day to do it. I bet it can get very cold and windy at the top of that hill. Great parkrun though if the weather is on your side.
I am very glad I watched that at my desk rather than running it I must say 😂😂 You are doing great finding some lovely parkruns, you really motivate me to try and find a few more new ones, great work as always
I definitely need to find a flat one this week, although that was very enjoyable, but definitely helped by the weather.
Looked a lovely course, thank you for your video once again, they are always great to watch
Thanks, the one at Frickley the week after was better. Probably helped by the weather. You have gone a bit quiet on your videos lately. Hope everything is ok ?
@@theaverageparkrunneryeah don’t worry we will be back 😊 we have just recently bought a house so it’s been very hectic, editing has been pushed to the back of the list but we are getting there slowly 🤞🙌
@@raleyadventures House moves are always hectic. Good luck with it all. I will watch out for your next video.
Quite like Frickley and the infamous Zigzag hill !! Meand my other half were once 1st and 2nd finishers 😃
I got my best ever finish position, 24th. Although there were only 66 people 😂 . Really enjoyed it. The weather definitely helped.
@@theaverageparkrunner yes Saturday morning was lovely. I missed Parkrun as had a race on Sunday when it was raining lol
Hi Paul, that looks like a nice Parkrun, sub-28 was a good time considering the hilly sections😊 I did a similar position at Severn Valley Country Parkrun (25th)
Hi Paul, that looks like a nice Parkrun, sub-28 was a good time considering the hilly sections😊 I did a similar position at Severn Valley Country Parkrun (25th)
@@AndyCliffMTB I was really pleased with my time. The good weather helped, and the fact that most of the hills were in the first part. Wouldn't have fancied running up those hills in the last kilometre.
Looked like a great route and I must say that breakfast looked incredible at the end 😍😍
Yes, I nice flat one and the breakfast was lovely. Especially the Lincolnshire sausages :)
My local one…hard isn’t it
Yes it was a tough one. Not the toughest I have done but definitely a challenging one. The down hills were nice and shallow which meant you could attack them. That made it enjoyable.
That looks like a nice course, I’m not a fan of hilly courses as you might have seen from Pennington on the same day but it makes it interesting for sure😂
I am not a fan of hilly courses either to be fair. I should probably move to Norfolk 😁
@@theaverageparkrunner They are good for training though, I’m off to Norfolk tomorrow as it happens 😊
@@AndyCliffMTB Have fun. I am going for Easter weekend so hoping to find a nice flat parkrun while I am there 😀
@@theaverageparkrunner I did some research the other day, there are 20 parkruns in Norfolk and the same roughly in Suffolk. I hope to do Sizewell next Saturday😊
I love these routes! 😊 Thanks for the video! 🙂🏃👍🏻
Thanks
No one fancied running through the puddles then 😂😂
I usually try to avoid them if I can. Had no choice on the previous parkrun but didn't fancy wet feet again this week😀
I was the runner with the 50 parkrun balloon 😂🎈
Ah, you went steadily away from me . Good running
Nice video as usual Paul, it reminds me a little of Bala Parkrun alongside the River Dee😊
It was a nice run. The breakfast was even better 😀
looks a good one this, i will have to do this one
Yes it's a nice flat parkrun. But be aware there are no toilets. Think there is a supermarket 5 mins drive away.
There I am at 4:52 in the horse costume on the right.
Does dressing as a horse make you run faster ? 😄
@@theaverageparkrunner My guess would be Neigh.
There I am in the horse costume at 27:30, which was fitting to have at a racecourse. 🐴 Great video covering my local parkrun course.
Thank you, glad you enjoyed the video. And a great costume 😀
Thanks for coming to our parkrun and making a well documented video of the course. I was the guy on setup at the start sign at 1:50 and in the pantomime horse costume at the finish funnel at 5:23 (as it was one of my outfits when I was performing in the pantomime Cinderella at the Broadbent Theatre in Wickenby on that weekend). Some additional information if you are planning a visit to Market Rasen Racecourse, speaking as a local member: before the 2020 pandemic, we used to have drinks and refreshments in the AP bar on the racecourse grounds but it could get messy with all of the muddy shoes on a wet parkrun day, but nowadays we often have some of the local attendees bringing home made cakes and sweets which are brought to the finish area. There are a few local cafés, restaurants and pubs back in Market Rasen that have great food and drink such as the Oxford Street chip shop, Aston Arms and The March Hare to name a few, along with the local butchers V.T. Lancaster for good value Lincolnshire meat or Cooplands as well as the Tesco and Lincolnshire Co-Op supermarkets. There are other attractions to the town if you're visiting visiting the day such as Willingham Woods, Bell Park play area, a fitness centre and plenty more. I hope you find this guide useful. 😊
Thanks for the information, I will probably come back at some point so will definitely check out Market Rasen next time.
this looks a very good one, will have to try it, as week 8 into my couch 2 5k. so i can run this distance now
Yes it will be a very good course to start on. I don't think you will find a much flatter one. You will definitely enjoy it. Good luck.
thank you. r u going to do Wollaton park one@@theaverageparkrunner
@@MMPhotographyVideography Yes , I will probably do that when the weather improves and spend a bit of time there afterwards as it looks like a nice place to spend a few hours.
yeh the house etc is nice@@theaverageparkrunner
Nice ran, mate. Meant to be a quick course? Would you say on a normal day and with fewer runners, this is one of the quickest courses you have run? Which is your most favourite course from 2023?
If you start near to the front then yes it is definitely a PB course. Not too many tight turns and extremely flat. I think it is always busy though so you need to start near the front for a PB attempt. My favourite from last year was probably Sherwood pines. A proper one lap course all through woodland on trails paths. It was only the second video I did so not my best vlogging. I may go back and do another vlog there later this year.
I'd say Alvaston just across the Motorway is as quick. It always feels tricky to keep to the shortest route on these paths! Walsall about an hour down the road is then a similar 'quickness' but with 3 laps can be a bit tricky on the overtakes on the final lap.
@@stephenlee1643 I will have to try Alvaston. I do like a nice flat course 😄
