Canadian Ranch Roping Association
Canada
Приєднався 16 жов 2023
These videos were created during the pandemic 2020/2021 as a way to keep in touch with our CRRA members and followers on Facebook and Instagram. Ross Smith (who was president of the association at that time) leads you through many of the loops that are used in the field by working cowboys and during ranch roping events. These videos are how he demonstrates how to throw a particular loop.
The Canadian Ranch Roping Association promotes and supports traditional ranch roping with a focus toward excellence in horsemanship. The safety of the riders and animals is at the forefront of everything we do. We promote low-stress livestock handling using techniques that are used in the field and at ranch roping events. The CRRA prides itself on fostering a family-orientated community that encourages ropers of all ages and experience to participate.

Hello, I´m writing from Colombia, South America. The cowboy ways are very different here, specially in the cattle regions, Orinoquia savannahs. Very wild (if you feel curious, I can send you a link). Just wanted to thank you for the best ever teaching method for the Houlihan. It worked perfectly!. Thanks a lot.
Thank you so much for your kind words. Ross is also a ranch roping clinician and created the plate exercise to help folks get the correct movement of the Houlihan. Yes please send a link about your area, that would be great!
Las técnicas de las que habla son las que copiaron de los vaqueros Mexicanos, saludos hermano
I love throwing this loop. I like the way you use the plate to teach it.
Happy to hear that!
Videos are great! Much appreciated. The slow-mo is very helpful for sorting out what is going on.
Glad they are helpful to you!
good teaching
Thanks and welcome
Much obliged
thankyou!
Very helpful, thank you! When you are throwing longer distances are you throwing coils with the rope or are you just letting coils run out of your left hand?
Thank you for the great question! I will ask Ross what he does and let you know as soon as possible!
I hope this helps you! For long distance you add coils to the loop and throw the coils with the loop as well as let coils out of your left hand. Ross
