Truth of Being
On the second retreat with Francis, I realized the truth of being and since then it has not changed for a second. I also had to cut my hair and beard because I went to see mum during Christmas.

    It seems like that consciousness is produced by the brain. Sleep, coma, there is no consciousness… if consciousness would be outside my such circumstances would not affect it.

    • @nondualify
      @nondualify 17 днів тому

      Coma is actually a really good example. There are many people who report after waking up from a coma that they had deep, life-altering experiences. So in the first person experience they were experiencing all kinds of states although the body can be close to death. This is also something of a definition problem. I think it would make sense to distinguish between sentience and consciousness.

    • @nondualify
      @nondualify Місяць тому

      Hi! Thank you for your comment! I was very much the same for most of my life, very addicted to experiences and they completely obscured my innate peace. Is it possible for you to distinguish the "I" from the "boredom" or "fear"? If you can witness your life and see that the "I", the experiencer has never changed but it has been qualified by different thoughts and emotions throughout your life, this will help in knowing experientially what the "I" without attaching it to emotions or thoughts feels like. Another thing I would like to add is that I remember well believing that nothing would truly feel like the current experiences I was addicted to. This is both true and false. It is true that whatever it is you feel addicted to does have a unique signature and dynamism. It is false because what you love is happiness or peace and once those qualities start to shine unconditionally much of the necessity of engaging with whatever just fades and you're left wondering how did you ever belíeve that happiness was conditioned by the experiences. Have a great weekend! :) BR, Olli

      Rupert Spira is brilliant. I love Bernardo as well, but they are too very different people who agree on some metaphysical concepts . I thoroughly enjoy listening to both of them. Spira has the ability to explain complicated concepts to the average layman. He is wonderful at coming up with an analogies to get his points across.

    Talking never does it, for a short time it convinces people they have come to understand something of great significance. But the glow and hit people feel has no shelf life, it's no more relevant than listening to a motivational speaker. Often it makes more confusion as the treadmill seeker goes looking for the next new kid on the block to get the hit. The new age social media gurus..most are just intellectual discourses and the description is never the described. J,krishnamurti an advanced soul, spend his whole life giving talks and it's doubtful if even one person had an experiential direct experience of the "self". Most of these discourses are at best mere voices of entertainment. Put one's toys aside and in earnest spend long periods of time in silence.. watch the only movie worth watching..... is one's own movie....

      Very well said, thank you. I've been attempting meditation, I lack the self discipline to see it through very often. Do you think meditation is helpful to find answers to what life is all about?

    • @nondualify
      @nondualify Місяць тому

      Hi! In the approach I or Francis take, meditation is not really an exercise in discipline. It is simply being aware of awareness itself. Whether the mind is calm or agitated, one can be equally aware of the one who is experiencing it all. This one has no real qualities or dimensions but because that is very difficult to understand it is often referred to something like "empty space of awareness". Then the question arises, why does it matter to be aware of awareness and to meditate that way? It is because peace, love and joy are inherent features of our deepest nature like wetness, transparency and liquidity are inherent features of water. Once we look into it we start to feel being that more and more. That is how effortless love comes into being and life is usually gradually transformed into something inexpressibly beautiful.

      We can't stop conceptualization with more conceptualization. It's when we realize and observe there's in fact a thinking mind trying to understand everything through concepts, and when we understand that concepts alone only represent a small portion of the whole spectrum of the human experience. Through the last generations we've placed so much importance into thinking, that we completely identify with the thinking mind and we get anxious whenever we can't predict the future. And that's because now we can't conceive that the concept is just a tool, but hardly could explain the whole experience, and even if it does, it wouldn't matter at all.

    I don't think it's true to claim that the argument that says there is no consciousness (or better, SELF-consciousness) in deep sleep requires "some consciousness of that experience" in order to make that claim. The argument that there is consciousness in deep sleep and that we just do not remember it seems a huge cop-out. The only thing you need to remember after anaesthesia is precisely that there was an interruption of consciousness. As in my anaesthesia analogy, if we were conscious during anaesthesia particularly, and did not lose self-consciousness during it, there would be NO anaesthesia to begin with. The fact of anaesthesia is precisely what allows us not to feel pain, i.e. not being conscious of it at all because we are not aware of ourselves, -the precondition for it. It's a false argument to claim, oh how do you know you weren't conscious during anaesthesia because that would require some consciousness to remember that you weren't conscious. Well, by definition, you are not conscious during anaesthesia, so how, logically, could you have any recollection of that unconscious period. You can't. But that very lack of memory of what happened during the period of anaesthesia, is surely the very proof that there was no self-awareness. Now the ultimate conditions that support the continuation of the principle of consciousness in the body, do I think that disappeared or was destroyed? No, but if we stick to what we mean by consciousness, and what we're really talking about, which is SELF-consciousness, there can surely be no doubt whatsoever, that self-consciousness does not exist either in deepest sleep or in anaesthesia. For what else can consciousness mean, unless it is self-consciousness? How could consciousness, meaning awareness anything/everything, not include self-awareness as an intrinsic part of its definition and still mean anything, or not be inherently contradictory??

  • @JohnnyJazzFreak
    @JohnnyJazzFreak Місяць тому

    If were were conscious during deep sleep or during anaesthesia, why would there be any interruption of memory or consciousness at all? I talked to my anaesthesiologist, and had a conscious conversation with him unless he injected me with propothol. I never finished my sentence. I was immediately gone. Why did that happen if there were consciousness during anaesthesia? I don't remember all my dreams, but I know that I dream and the during the dream, on some level I am conscious. During deep sleep, I don't ever, I mean, EVER, recall any conscious experience, because it would seem there isn't any. Why would that be if there were consciousness, meaning SELF-consciousness, during sleep? Discuss.

    What I Identify with is what I accept as belonging to me. My identity can be fluid and in a changing state, but it is still me, mine. The reality of this doesn't have to be accurate or an acceptable standard as long as I claim it. Identity is learned through the environment encountered and our genetic propensity. Anything unclaimed is not me.

    Thank you. Just yesterday while listening to Clif High, he recommended a book to read, and I found it and started reading it. It's perfect. All about Consciousness. It's by a man named Harold Waldwin Percival, and it's called "Thinking and Destiny." As soon as I heard what that man said in this video, I recognized it in many people's findings. Such as when a person wanted to learn out of body experiences, he said that he would ask every day many times a day, am I asleep or awake? It is difficult to know what one is seeing. Once before, I was sleeping, and I wanted to awake, and when I thought I awoke, I was still in the dream. It happened that four times I had to find out I was still sleeping. Finally I was awake, and oh my, I was grateful for that, because it seems to me that, being stuck in a dream where you are not aware that you are asleep, it's the worst thing ever!

    Interesting that all of the "great" teachers of mankind fail in one critical area. The power to accomplish the desired end result. We are human and so therefore do not have the power to get to where we want to go. Yet the teachers keep saying, do this, be this, get here. And how many do ? Very few if any..

    Awareness is a triune existence/Being Witness, intelligence and attention. These are not 3 things, but 3 aspects of the same one. The intelligence is a higher intelligence than that of the logical intelligence of the mind. This higher intelligence is LOVE. This is the only way I can Express it with our limited language.

  • @We-Do-NOT-Consent-303
    @We-Do-NOT-Consent-303 2 місяці тому

    The second step is a trap by the mind. "I don't know what I am" Is a wrong proposition. Because I am NOT a "what" or a thing. Awareness is a no-thing. So the question of what does not arise. You already know yourself, by being aware of awareness. And awareness is infinite, not because it is really big, but because it can not be measured. Awareness is infinitely flexible. Because it can encompass all the Universes or the minute. Awareness is Infinite, ineffable, inexpressible Divinity. However it knows itself by Being itself. Nothing more needs to be done.

  • @We-Do-NOT-Consent-303

    I have always known that I am awareness. Because in Hungarian the language is very clear about this from the start. Tudat = The one that knows or the one that is aware. Or you could even use it as the Being. So one word can be used as all three.
