Slightly embarrassed I even had to watch this to have confidence I knew, haha. Thanks!
"Grab onto the knuckle of the hinge" should be step 1 for every video demoing door handedness. 👍👍
Very useless. Thank you
Best, most memorable method yet!
What is the best way to measure a door for a modular home. You showed in you video that I have a left hand door which was very helpful.
Excellent explanation. Straightforward and simple. Easy to understand
great video
u da best 🎉
Thank you for making it simple .
Cheer~~~cause (something) to occur in a particular way---be the decisive factor in.😊
So if referring to exterior doors, that would be considered a left handed in-swing - correct? We’re looking at exterior doors where in-swing and out-swing are part of the equation.
Thank you. I just bought 2 special order doors, one left and one right.. but they're both left.. now I won't sound like a moron when I argue with the idiots at the store..
What’s the difference in flat jam and whatever else there is?
I do not normally comment on videos that I look at on UA-cam. However, I have to tell you that your video is the most straight forward and easiest to understand of just about any video that I have ever looked at on UA-cam concerning anything! Know that I have subscribed to your channel as I look forward to learning more things with your methodology. Thanks so much!
“Ass to Brass” or “Butts to Butts”. Place your back to the hinges and whichever way it swings is what it is! As stated in the video.
That was incredibly thorough. No way I could have explained it better myself. That's why I just sent this to a client
Good video ! The actual method for windows and doors is always viewing the door from the outside then determine the hinge side. The door In the video is a left hand hinge (LHH) because from outside the door it’s hinged on the left side.
The way I like it straight to the point. I pretty much already knew it but I wanted to make sure before I went and purchased my door..
You are 100% wrong buddy, think of the words RHS “right hand swing” doesn’t matter which side you’re on.!go to the door, open it up, go through and close it. Open up the door again go through and close it. which hand did you use? RIGHT HAND. I was the general contractor for 40 years basically for homebuilding. You have a right hand, swing door in your video. But I do warn people. Someplaces selling doors get it wrong too so when you’re ordering a door, just tell him what side do you want the hinges on and that will clear it up
Its just differences, some parts of the nation use one way to orient door swing, i think its mainly east and west, just like our circular saws, west blades are on the left and east use them on the right, each to their own.
Thank you for giving such a simple explanation. 🙂
Great straight-to-the-point video, Most UA-cam channels start off with a long-winded sermon which prompts me to move on to another channel ....
Excellent!!! Back to the hinges is a genius way to remove all confusion!
You made this so clear and easy! Explained two ways made great for the double check!Thank you!
Excellent
Outdtanding. Great advice for me. Will do that. Thanks
You boys have certainly changed things over the years
thanks! Very helpful.
Thanks Brother, Good job!
What was the point of grabbing the knuckle except to drag out the video?
Thank you thank you for this video there was not a lot of beating around the bush , but straight to the point !!!!!
Dang, he's so quick getting to the point. I got it right away and I feel like a door "Master" now. Thank you!!!
you MUST grab the knuckle first, and spread your feet as if you are being searched by the police. otherwise there is no way you can advance to the next step. What if there is no knuckle? Or you cant reach, or, you only have one arm, or the cop (if he really is there) finds weed on you, then you are arrested and cannot proceed to the next step. hmmm. these must be considered. Actually, placing your back to the hinge, and which way it opens sounds like the best approach.
I have a stack of (not mounted) doors with cut outs for the hinges. How do I determine the swing?
Super helpful and simple description. Thank you!
You contradicted yourself. You called the same door a right hand from the inside and a left from the outside
This video was so helpful I really appreciate it thank you
So what is it if I don't grab the knuckle of the hinge 😆
My wife ordered all 24 doors in this project we ended up dumping every single one of them in the back canal. Now they all swing both ways.
To the point. Thanks!!
I find it way easier to have just one consistent point of reference, not two. Put yourself on the exterior of the room, what side are the hinges on? The door swings either into or out of the room, hinged left or right.
Very simple and easy to understand. Thank you for useful video,
Super useful and straight to the point. Thanks 🙏
A very clear and unambiguous explanation, many thanks
I always went with the rule of being outside the door (direction where door isn't swinging) and then just look where hinges were. However, I like your back to the hinges method. It is such an important topic when buying a door but feels almost ridiculous how much you have to think about it...
Thanks I knew I had it had to double check tho !
Excellent
Thanks bro
Always go from Exterior view. And I think using Hand is outdated as it means nothing.. it’s Subjective However I use Left or right Hinged as it’s exact so from exterior view (as always) I say left or right hinged and either in or out swing.
I’m confused. Your saying it can be a left OR right hand swing door from the exact same door. There is left hand in swing AND left hand Out swing or Right hand In Swing or right hand Out swing so this confused me as you labeled the exact same door as both when it can only be one.
Should my door swing in to my 7'x7' walk-in closet, or out in to the bedroom? It swing in the bedroom now but uses up floor space. Thank you
if it’s a walk-in closet should always swing in if not out into whatever room
