Bill and I put together a 3rd place finish up in williamsport, Weather was a little cold calm in the morning, but the wind picked up in the afternoon. Most of my fish was caught on a 1/4 ounce PB&J jig and bill caught his on a wacky worm. You guys should head over to western PA. We have some great “big” lakes with plenty of space and plenty of big fish. I live right next to Lake Arthur and fish it a lot, but pymatunning, wilhelm, and shenango reservoir all have great bass and multi species. Arthur and pymatunning especially. Big bass. And of course there’s Lake Erie right up the road an hour. World class fishing all up and down the west coast of PA. I’ve fished in more than a dozen states and not one of them offers the opportunities that western pa has.
@jimlahey3919 I been wanting to get out that way. Gonna have to make a trip.
spruce tree i think
@@pamtnman1515 ya ithink your right
@@JonathanPhillipsFishing the territorial guys in that boat bugging you are the same kind of people who stuff weights in their fish
Wow that's ridiculous. Always go into these type of videos with a neutral mind no matter who uploaded it. You are 100% in the right here. Rose valley is a small lake but there is no reason for these guys to act like this. As fishermen we should all be better and help each other. At the end of the day we all just want a good time.
@@hunteryourish2012 agreed
This is the reason I stopped fishing in tournaments. There just too many bad actors. I can go on less busy days and get all I need from my pastime. Way too many who think they own the lake. Fish more be an ass less.
I agree fishing should be fun and not stressful
This is the entire problem.people have no respect for others You guys did nothing wrong. the lake is public property, no one can claim any positition or place as that is non enforcable by law. It is what it is , where it is at. Some people feel they are so Entitled, it makes me sick
Ya I don't understand the amount of drama in fishing sometimes
@@JonathanPhillipsFishing I dont understand drama and fishing drama is one thing , but shouldnt go fishing with youLOL
You are correct sir
Thank you
Lived in the Bloomsburg area from 2012-2013 for a job, and fished it a good bit. Some good bass in the weeds back then, and some nice walleye through the ice.
Ya the grass does seem to hold them pretty good every year
What baits do you use? And where should i cast in late summer
I like using soft baits here, like a waky worm, swimbait or drop shot. U can catch them all over in the summer not anywhere specific
@@JonathanPhillipsFishing i just got back from fishing there using power bait but had no luck😓
Nice u tore it up! That’s a tough lake to fish.
@riverrat92 ya I always found the best fishing there is in May, it can get tough in the summer for sure
Thank you. You are so brave for sharing your story.
@wyattfink9155 ty I debated putting it on here, but I hope it helps with making people more aware
Awsome. Just moved to the area. Already love the lake. Looking for people to fish with if you're ever down.
Sounds good havent been able to get out much this year, but it is a great lake to go catch fish for sure
@@JonathanPhillipsFishing same. Been busy year. Caught a nice 5 pounder there 2 weeks ago from shore. Loving it ao far.
Congratulations definitely a good one there buddy it’s a tough lake to catch good fish I have done well in that exact spot fun fishing come tournament day dinks
Haha ya the fish move alot in that lake
Awesome fish, congrats man!
Thanks!!
It's been a while since I fished this lake. Is it catch and release. I'm looking for somewhere to fish for panfish.
No, u can keep them if u want.
Do you always throw the fish back, or keep some to eat as well? And is the fish in your area suited for eating?
Ya most of the time I throw them back, but u can keep them if u want
@@JonathanPhillipsFishing Cool Man.. Is the fish in the Susquehanna River near Williamsport suitable to eat btw? I got some family near there and might do some fishing up that way this summer
@@ousamaabdu794 as far as I know they are
@@JonathanPhillipsFishing Thanks for the help Sir
My gosh stop! All this crybaby stuff. Get over yourself and just fish and enjoy it.
Ya I'm not sure what their problem was
Nice video! Is this at the linden launch? Trying to find a good location on the river for my prop without destroying it haha. I would like to fish the tournament in March but never ran this part of the river.
It's was the antlers launch. Yes u can run a prop up there, just gotta know where the cribens are, but that's why I fish up there alot cause u can run pretty far even with a prop.
Nice job guys!
Thanks, we had a blast!!
Have always wanted to fish the river Out of Sunbury you were in a BassCat is it safe enough for an outboard? is there more than 1 Sunbury ramp?
When the dam is up in the summer u can run around down there. There is 2 ramps down there u can use. The state park is probly the easiest to use
Live scoping?
Yep
I use the humminbird version though
What’s your top speed you’re getting?
I was getting 54 fully loaded with that boat
Nice to see you fish all over up there. I am shoppiung for new bass boat and looking to get back up there and do some fishing. Great videos man. Seriosuly brought back many great memories. Stay Strong!!
Ya it was my first time fishing there, been wanting to go for a while
Use to fish the lakes and streams up there , and did well at Hunter. Still clear as can be? Looking for a place with land up there. Near maybe nordmont or anywhere near that lake. Keep them fishing reels turning and great content. Many memories up the at the Legion's well back in the 80's LOL..
Ya it's a very clear lake still
@@JonathanPhillipsFishing Glad to hear!!
I fish from greevy boat launch trying to find more spots around there to hit though fish same spots on greevy not alot of people normally on that part nice smallies there great job
Ya below the dam has some good quality smallies
What was you using? Me and my boy have fished on Hunters lake, if this is the same lake near Hughesville
Just a small swim bait on a jig head
Just curious what part of the lake were you on I was just there last week I'm not too good at finding them in lakes I fish the susquehanna mostly.
Penn Yan side up on the northern end
I think your viewers would appreciate knowing what baits your throwing. Not specifics, just genre or class n style. I dont catch a lot here but the one i do catch are monsters.. 6 lbs bass, 30 inch pike ( not pickerel)along with the trout. Your def right about the fish population and quality.
Ya the lake has really good quality for sure. Ive never caught a pike in there but im sure it has them, also heard of people catching the occasional walleye
I fish here occasionally, I live 20 minutes from here and caught a 6 pound bass. Do you have any tips?
@@bryceburkhart7870 I seem to have most of my luck with soft plastics vs hard baits. Thats a hard question to answer as I throw different baits based on times of year and daily lake conditions and weather.
@@coreywatts3922what do you use in summer? And where do you usually cast?
@@SpadesSlays soft baits like a waky worm swim bait or drop shot
Which BCB you running, Eyra? How far up river can you run in fiberglass boat? I use to fish both branches of the Susquehanna. The West branch has improved a lot since the mid90’s when I fished it.
I have the Pantera classic, In williamsport u can run up to Larry's creek if your careful, down in Sunbury I stick to main pool unless it's up from rain
@@JonathanPhillipsFishing , I fished the Susquehanna where the two branches come together for several yrs, caught a lot of fish in that area. Only ran my 1995 Pantera Classic in the Sunbury portion when the fiberdam was installed. Prior to that I had a 17 ft aluminum bassboat and banged it around on the rocks for several yrs. Loved fishing the Susquehanna.
@rickpurcell4920 ya, it's Definitely a great place to fish.
Was that considered to be a decent bass for PA?
Ya anything over 5 is really good
Did they do good in yalls tournament ?
My point is usually it's the people who aren't doing good are the ones that get real bent. Also if a guy is catching pigs in the area said person acts like that that's why I asked. No justification for bad attitudes either way. Tight Lines & Be Safe !!
@@jobrandofishing I'm not sure I don't know who they were
SMH it's fishing, plain and simple
Agreed
It is a small lake how can you get mad haha. I caught nothing but dinks and they are the ones getting mad. How did you make out?
We had five keepers but my ruler is off I guess. I just bought it. I took mine up to compare with there's and mine was 1/8th inch different but we caught decent amount of fish. I did lose a five pounder at the boat unfortunately but that's fishing
I also think they thought they could just bully us away, idk I try my best to accommodate others
What’s your take on all of the dq’s from the tournament and the potentially different dink board the tournament director had?
So I'm not sure what is more accurate the plastic one they use or the metal one everyone else uses, I do know online tournaments use the plastic one. I guess at the end of the day he is measuring everyone's fish on the same ruler so that why I took mine up there so I would know the difference. Mine was 1/8th inch different then his but now I know for the future fish have to be 15 1/8th on mine
Are you going to be there this weekend for the tournament. I like watching your videos and would like to see your camera setup if we happen to cross paths. This is my second tournament ever and would like to start recording like you have. Have a great day man and good luck if you fish this weekend.
Ya I plan on being there this weekend. I'm glad u like the videos I enjoy doing it. Def come say hi if you are there.
Sweet. I’m there really early bout to drop in and catch some shade on the bank. I’m in a red tracker pro 170 if I happen to cross paths with you near the end Good luck!
@@ryanlahr6528 we must have fished different areas, if u did see me u should have came and said hi
What were you using?
For most of these fish I was just using a senko waky style
Where can I find the tournament rules?
On their website
Does it have a livewell pumpout?
Yes but u turn on the recirculator then pull on the pipe then it pumps out the back
What bait
I was using a small swim bait and a tube
good video man. Would love to go fishing with ya sometime.
Ty mabe we can get together sometime
Hey Jonathan, thanks for sharing this video. My name's Alex. I'm actually going to be fishing candlewood lake for the first time on Monday. The friends that I'll be fishing with was telling me the fishing is kind of tough there. How'd you guys make out? Any advise you could share? Would really appreciate it! Thanks! Tight Lines🎣🐟
Spinnerbait and a wacky rigged senko should catch u some fish
I was there today and didn't see any spawners.
Mabe with the warm spring they are ahead of schedule
@@JonathanPhillipsFishing got a prespawner so i guess they either deeper spawning as well but other than that i got a big post spawn smallie
Was going to head up to candlewood next weekend for some bed fishing was it early wave spawners you think or later in the spawn? Also what water temps were u seeing? Thanks man keep grinding 💪
Im pretty sure it was the first wave of largies, water temps on the one side were 65 and the other side around 60 up in the creeks it was at 57-59.
@Jonathan Phillips Fishing thanks man appreciate you hopefully I'll get on em next weekend 🍻
Good information what bait do you use in tournaments.
I use that Berkly max scent general for most of those applications.
good video. I live in montoursville and fish a lot of the same lakes you do. I take my kayak out a lot, maybe ill see you out there.
Nice, If u see me out there come say hi
@@JonathanPhillipsFishing How does it work as far as no gas outboards, can the boat still have agas engine on it but use only electric or have to remove outboards to fish that area?
@@KVX21 u can have gas motors on the boat but just can't use them
@@JonathanPhillipsFishing Nice... You fish some great Lakes. Nice to see the dedication.
@KVX21 Thank you
How far is your jackplate raised up ? 1/4. 3/8. 1/2 ?
I honestly don't know I bought the boat used and haven't touched it. It does look like it is up a little bit
@@JonathanPhillipsFishing if you take a measurement and let me know. Front and rear on the left side . Thanks in advance
You should use G Force culling clips to help keep track of your fish during tournaments, as well as weighing your fish right after catching them to know which ones to cull
I used to use those but now I use the ones that came with the scale I have
@@JonathanPhillipsFishing oh in the video you didn’t use clips until you had to go back though the fish and weigh them. It’s easier to just weigh then when you catch them then throw them in the tank
Ya i got to get better at that haha, ty for the tip :)
Good to see videos from home waters! I live about 30 miles south of Williamsport and fish up there a lot. You guys were using about the same baits I do. We also catch some nice first on spinner baits and small crank baits. You guys did a good job and a good video!
Thank you very much. It is definitely a great area to fish. I did have a spinner bait tied on. I probly should have fished it some :)
I just subscribed
