I will certainly try my best but unfortunately the problem with rare cars is their rarity makes them hard to get hold of. This particular one I discovered a few years ago but it's taken a while to make arrangements.

These cars do seem to offer a slice of the luxury roadster lifestyle at an affordable price. I can certainly see the appeal.

Thank you. Absolutely worth checking, so often people present cars for inspection that fail in really silly things that could easily have been sorted prior to the MOT such as screen wash, wipers l, bulbs and under inflated tyres for example.

I think.toeards the end Rover became a bit like that old dog that's been a loyal companion for years but you know it's days are numbered. There is an entire generation now that will never understand what this once proud marque ment to those who cherish it and some would argue it may have been kinder to have put Rover down before it's health deteriorated. Project drive had a lot to answer for.

I think to this day it still is due to its price point and driving experience. As safety legislation continues to become ever more stringent I doubt manufacturers will ever be able to build small cars that feel like this ever again. Though not as sharp a drive the 500 came pretty close but even this is a model that's been around since 2007 and eighteen years is a long run for a car these days.

I'm afraid I was more interested in cars than language in high school so my German may not be perfect.

Nostalgia is certainly a powerful thing. I have a MK1 Mégane coupe very similar to the one my dad drove in the 90's but I remember him test driving the Puma so was keen to try one out for myself. Fords of that era were built for drivers but I'm not sure we can say the same today. This was filmed late on the previous year and the announcement about the Capri followed shortly after. 😓

That's great to hear. A few people have commented on this video and the video of the R170 that they have owned an SLK and all seem to enjoy the cars. I think most will be very satisfied with these cars as a middle ground between a sports car and a compact GT. I still think that both models represent great value for money as a used buy at the moment.

Thanks Janet, That's excellent news that SYD is getting the repairs needed. I love the sunbeam alpine and Tiger, both pretty unknown and overlooked compared to other sports cars of the era. Sadly this event isn't held in this fabulous location anymore but it did attract some interesting vehicles. The Mini and Abarth clubs were regular attendees. Back in the late 90's I was very interested in the old style Mini and naturally the R50 at launch. I've not yet driven a BMW mini.

This seems like such a long time ago now. I had arrived not expecting to see these vehicles so it was a bit of an impromptu video that proved to be very popular for a while. I think there is something about an old Landy that we Brits love even if we are not into off roaders.

Thanks Davy. Earlier in the year I'd have said it was between the Puma and the 16 valve Mégane Coupe but the Mazda driven later in the year was even better than I had expected. The stretch of road you recognized has been used in many previous reviews. I'm putting the final touches to the additional members only 2024 roundup extra video so hopefully ready tomorrow.

Fantastic, these cars were built to be used and it's great to hear yours is being driven regularly. How many miles have you racked up in it so far?

The road between Guisbrough and Whitby isn't bad either if you were heading down the A19 again. You could definitely work that in with a visit to the NY500.

That sounds like an interesting drive. It would be interesting to know how it compares not only to a stock SLK, but also the MX-5 which is more of a drivers car in its natural form.

This one is from a while ago, the site has definitely grown a bit since then. I've not been to that place in York yet so many one to look into for next year. You may also like NY500 near Pickering.

It was frustrating as it was all down to a single Spade terminal.

Thank you. To be honest I always forget that trim level Orion existed and tend to think more of the Ghia. The XR3i was in fantastic condition and I think looked great in period despite the press at the time not being very kind towards the Mk5.

@markonmotoring I remember going to the launch of the XR3i at my local Ford Dealer, I think if the Zetec Engines were ready for launch of the mark 5 Escort it could have been a much better but i think ford played it safe after the sierra.

I expect you are not alone based on how many I see on the roads.

You really should visit at some point, I believe they do various car events throughout the year but it's a very long way for you so best take a good few days. As for your first question wait to see what comes in the next members VLOG.

Thank you. Yes Mazda got the formula right and have continued to evolve the car through this fourth generation with no detail, no matter how small left unchecked.

The Stirling Nova is a real show stopper and still looks fresh out of a sci-fi movie. Clio Dimma looks fabulous and it was a real treat to see one after all these years. It's staggering to think of the Laguna as being three decades old but then Twingo and Clio have already passed that point and Mégane will be up soon having been. Launched in France in Dec 95 and early 96 in the UK.

Thank you. That's a very interesting point about taking such an expensive vehicle off road and I did point out that all the fancy gloss black trim probably would suffer from scratching easily. I expect it's the second of third owners in many cases that will take these off road more.

The plot is looking a little bare now compared to when this was filmed. 😅 Harry Metcalf has a Farm and a Ferrari whereas when my channel started I had an allotment and a Fiat 500. 😂😂😂

A full fat off roader certainly would make more sense where you are with all that open space to enjoy. I expect Japanese and Korean models have been popular in Australia for many years.

@markonmotoring Indeed, I just bought a Korean 1st car for Dino Lass as a first car. But we actually get a greater selection of car models to buy than the uk I would say due to our demographic..we have Jag, LDR as well as Ram, Dodge, Mahindra, and all the usual suspects. The latest being the Toyota Tundra full size pick up. We truly are blessed with ICE cars which is partly why I left the UK...

The UK market is bleak at the moment for new cars with Hybrid and EV being pushed. Conventional ICE is either small three pot turbo's or cars that are all power and no charisma. No wonder teenagers don't get excited by cars in the same way as we did at that age. Congratulations again to your daughter on her test pass, may her taste in cars be suitably influenced. 😅

@markonmotoring thanks, just to add, I passed a renault 18 coupe yesterday, or would it be a fuego ? I'm sure they're different cars ...

@@Dino_Dad. The 18 is a four door saloon or an estate where as the Fuego is a three door coupe. Both a pretty rare sight these days.
