Impressive presentation. Any bibliography or information related to the connection of prefabricated wooden constructions?
Thank you! Please consider reading the papers from this list: 3dmbc.com/timber-modular/ (including the review ones). Best wishes, KDT
Respected sir, one of my student want to compare the performance of steel building with and without castellated beams. Which software would be used to have good get accurate results. Please reply.
@@rohitkurlapkar7632 hello, for beam to beam comparison, our tools are the most accurate in the market, in case s/he is doing research. If they are designing an entire structure, then I recommended Tekla Structures. The design formulae for cellular beams (circular web openings) are more generic but good enough. A comparison can be done. Best wishes, KDT

Who is qualified to apply for a grant?
Depends on the funder and the call, but most of these are for university researchers on an contract or permanent and some are for researchers working in institutions and companies. Every grant/call has eligibility criteria. Please check these very carefully so don’t waste your time… best wishes, KDT

@@KDT_research thank you sir😇
The way this complex topic for structural engineering is simplified is really interesting.
@AroundRavikant thanks for saying this! Convincing engineers to consider and embark on the AI journey has been a long journey and I hope through our research papers and talks, they will feel more confident. In my view, companies that won't engage with AI, will not be competitive in a few years.
Another inspiring talk! Congratulations!
Many thanks Dan! Much appreciated. Hope you’ve enjoyed the familiar background!

Dear Konstantinos; I have been to a PhD interview with an expert committee (3 members). This PhD was funded by the Carlsberg Foundation (Denmark), and candidates were supposed to apply with their own project. My interview lasted almost 1 hour: for the first 10 minutes, I did a presentation, and the rest was a discussion about my project, and how it contributes to scholarship. They never asked me any questions like "Tell us about yourself", "what are your strengths or weaknesses", "Why do you want to do a PhD", or "Why this university" etc. (maybe because I have already published an article in a peer-reviewed journal?). At some point, the interview got very personal with one of the committee members: we discussed Marxism, feminist critique of Marx, and decolonial theory for around 10 minutes. All members were very positive, friendly, and welcoming. They asked me "You are supposed to conduct research at a foreign institution, do you have any plans?", and I told them that I already planned where to conduct research. Then, they told me "Part of your responsibilities you will have to take teaching activity. What would you like to teach?". I answered that I had plans to teach a particular subject (critical social media studies). Through the end of the interview, the atmosphere became quite warm and friendly, even they made some jokes and we all laughed. Finally, the head of the committee gave me information about the timeline, when I would hear back from them, and when the possible start date could be as they know that I work full-time and have a notice period. They also told me about the relocation support I could get etc. Given this information, what do you think about the possible admission to the PhD program? :) Thank you so much!
Hello! Thanks for the message. I am not sure what the Panel really thinks, but from your written representation above, I get clearly the message that the whole interview went very well and the Panel was enthusiastic and familiar with you. So, very well done! More personal discussions are common, as the Panels also wants to get to know the person behind a 'cold' interview; that said, discussions about Marx... can be tricky and well beyond what I have experienced. However, it sounds like the atmosphere was very positive. I hope the result is positive. Happy to discuss more specific concerns you may have. Best wishes, KDT
Thanks a lot for the valuable insights

Pretty sure your adviser should have seen your thesis before submission so if he did not like the layout, the flow, and the style then he would have told you - n'est-ce pas?
Of course, s/he has to look at the thesis before submission.
Such a helpful video on making a positive impression in cold emails to professors. If you have not tried it yet, give FilterBounce a shot for your email verification needs. At $10/month, it is a steal and maintains a bounce rate under 1%. Plus, you get 300 free verifications monthly which is a huge bonus.
Great advice on maintaining a professional tone when emailing professors. Professor do I need to study your publications its hard to comprehend everything since my background knowledge is not sufficient to understand all of the stuff but I wanted to do research in neurogenesis but I am not qualified enough I don't know Histopathology or immunolabling marker and its hard for me since it require novel ideas and novel methodology how you guys comes up with this stuff also I really get disappointed after studying professor work he ghost me
No you do not have to study all the publications from your future PhD supervisor. That would be a gargantuan task and rather impossible as you are not at that level to study and comprehand research. However, you can try to read briefly some of his/her latest publications and what they are dealing with. What is the research question and the methodology to solve the problem. I am sorry but I cannot commend much on your knowledge and of course that will be something to discuss with your pntetial supervisor. Feel free to join the channel and book for a quick meeting with me. Best, KDT
This is fantastic advice

Hello Professor, Your video has helped me to know the better way of writing a cold email to any potential supervisor. Please, enlighten me on this: As a prospective PhD research student, what format should your email take or what should be in the content of your email when the school you are applying to has given a proposed research topic and you are asked to contact the supervisor? Do you need to make reference to his papers, publications and recent research? Thanks. I need a reply 🙏🙏
Hello, please use the style I have mentioned on the video. In your case a semi-formal email is required. Of course always polite. For example: Subject: Prospective PhD Student: Inquiry about [Research Topic] Dear Dr or Professor Surname (chech his her affiliation), My name is XXXX and I am currently completing my ..... degree in ..... at XYZ University. I am writing to express my interest in the PhD position related to [specific research topic] that is being offered in your lab. During my studies, I have developed a strong background in .......... editing and .........., particularly through my thesis on .............. My work involved .........., which I believe aligns well with the proposed research in your lab. I have read your recent paper on the use of ............. technology in..........., and I am particularly interested in your findings on off-target effects. I am excited about the possibility of contributing to your ongoing research in this area. My research interests lie in....... and its applications in ..........., and I am eager to explore the potential of ......... technology further through your proposed project. I believe that working under your guidance would provide an excellent opportunity to achieve my academic and professional goals. I would appreciate the opportunity to discuss this PhD position with you in more detail. Please let me know if you are available for a meeting or if there are any additional materials you would like me to provide. Thank you for considering my application. I look forward to the possibility of working with you. Sincerely, XXXXXX XXXXX@email.com number ==== Key Points to Remember Be Concise: Keep your email focused and to the point. Be Professional: Use formal language and avoid slang or overly casual expressions. Be Personal: Show that you have done your research on the supervisor and their work. Be Specific: Tailor your email to the particular research topic and supervisor. Good luck with your application!
Very much helpful. Thanks.

Thank you soo much sir, for such a meticulous information.
Thanks a ton for the kind words! So happy you found it useful!
I have a different question. Did you work while completing your PhD? If yes, how did you manage a work, life n school balance? Were you able to qualify for grants n scholarships to cover your tuition? Thanks, Jouli
Hi Jouli! Thanks for the question. Yes indeed I was working as I was on a Part Scholarship and covering my expenses in London was difficult. I believe it is totally possible if you are fully committed and dedidated to the PhD, so work looks like a break to you. That's a great video. I will prepare one and post very very soon. Stay tuned! Best wishes, Kostas
