      @@fixxerupper2138 I know a lot of people will make their own bait with oats, corn, jello powder etc. but I like to use canned whole kernel corn. It's cheap and requires no preparation. Load as many as you can fit onto a circle hook with a Carolina rig and chum a bunch of it!

    Great vid, but gotta be careful with where you’re filming. It’s super clear exactly which pools on this river you’re fishing. That river (like most) has already seen a massive increase in angler pressure, and tons of guys are keeping fish. No need to boost pressure and harvest here

    • @GoOnChico
      @GoOnChico 9 місяців тому

      Second this lmao. Complains about it being overpressured and not fishing well but then contributes to it? Turning it to an east ditch day by day.

    • @heavy2handsoutdoors
      @heavy2handsoutdoors 9 місяців тому

      Thank you for the kind words I appreciate that! Anyone who fishes that river knows the pools, so wouldn't I be showing pools to people that already fish those pools? If they haven't seen those pools before then it's because they don't want to put in kilometers of foot work for a fish. I see it as an "if you know, you know" type situation. If an angler didn't know about this river and they did all the detective work to fish these exact holes then kudos to them, there are plenty of more effective/less time consuming ways to find fishing spots with the internet though. I have not noticed an increase in pressure since then at all, but I will take your word for it. I do remember when MNR officers would come down there pretty regularly and when they stopped doing check ups guys with baitcasters and a thick braided line started showing up to snag the trout and salmon. Then there were the fish kill years from farmers run off, I believe one of the times that happened was the year there was no water in the river. Nothing could swim up, a lot of fish died. There's no salmon there anymore, no more brown trout, and compared to the past there's only a small handful of bows left. As for the harvest, I feel bad about it and harvesting is never my intention when fishing there. I'm going to assume you're one of the locals and know what's up so I won't post any more videos from this river. I can respect that.

    • @heavy2handsoutdoors
      @heavy2handsoutdoors 9 місяців тому

      @@GoOnChicoGTA east ditch bangers already did a number on this river over 20 years ago. It's not stocked like it used to be either. This is probably the worst trout river in the area and that's a fact. So why would these east ditch bangers come all the way here so they can all share a fish or 2? Literally every other trout river is either a double digit river or is on some/most days. The one in my video is not and probably never will be again. If anything this is an opportunity to teach those that don't know the river well to fish it properly (catch and release). By saying "it's turning into an East ditch" is just going to make people think there are as many fish here as there are in the east ditches.

    • @georgegeorge6193
      @georgegeorge6193 9 місяців тому

      @@heavy2handsoutdoors really respect your comments here. It’s ultimately your decision when and where to film. It’s very entertaining to watch, but at the same time it poses some unique challenges if people are able to do some detective work and figure out where you were. If the migratory populations were quite stable on this system, I wouldn’t think filming would be such a big issue. But since numbers of bows and salmon have changed quite significantly over the past few years, and this system isn’t as large as some other rivers, it may be best to keep it quieter. That’s just my opinion though. I do wish you the best though. Perhaps one day we will run into each other on the river. I don’t get out as much to fish anymore, but I did have a couple solid days this fall in those exact spots. Cheers and tight lines

      Always do my friend. The fluoro I was using appeared to be fine. After checking out the spool I noticed the line was easily breaking when I'd pull it with my hands.

    • @codybertram6122
      @codybertram6122 11 місяців тому

      I haven’t had a problem with daiwa, sunline or berkley vanish fluoro. I have noticed however that cheaper fluoros or burned/kinked knots in cold weather can make fluoro become brittle. I’ve had spider wire that would easily fall apart leading to a frustrating day. I don’t like fluoro when it’s super cold cause it just doesn’t have that limp like mono. I’m honestly switching back to mono for open water on my leaders and mainline. I do like 2# fluoro for small finicky clear stream trout though. And it has its place in Ice fishing for helping weightless jigs sink. Other than that grandpa brought monsters in for years on mono and you can too trust me.

    • @heavy2handsoutdoors
      @heavy2handsoutdoors 11 місяців тому

      @@codybertram6122 that's amazing! I use mono as a leader for carp because the line takes a beating in some spots I fish for them. For fluoro I use Seaguar STS steelhead 10-15lb and haven't had an issue with it yet. I will use straight braid with a Kwikfish on the creeks and they still slam it on low water sunny days so I have no doubt he pulled out monsters!

    • @codybertram6122
      @codybertram6122 11 місяців тому

      @@heavy2handsoutdoors I mean fluoro has gotten a lot better but the price and only a tad bit more sensitivity than mono doesn’t justify the cost. I’ve heard of plenty people saying they go from 15# down to 10# Fluoro for finicky Great Lakes salmon and I just can’t help but think to myself if it’s so invisible then why would you downsize like that for big fish. Small fish ice fishing I will just cause it helps the jig swing in their mouth easier
