A history of the Halifax High Level Railway and the Alpine Route
What a well lovely well put together video, thanks for the memories.
Nice video🙂
I think the "not sure where this is" photo is either at the southern end of Lake View, or perhaps behind where Lidl now stands.
I grew up Woodside , Claremount 1965 thru 1983
what did my old House use to be before it came A Home For People to live Next to the Fish shop
Which house Aaron?

Brilliant memories, Boothtown J&I School. It would be nice if some pictures of Sunnyside Infants and Secondary School were there.
The part you said Not sure where this is at 4:16 is the snicket below KFC
Awesome the music is super what is it called warmest regards
@@hazel2149 dont know about the music , youll need to ask the person who posted the video. Or use google to identify it.
@@gregy797 just wanted to know what the song music was called it's real nice and goes with the video🙂
I used to get my penny arrow bars from your shop after school Boothtown juniors and used to play British bulldogs in the sheds at break time Also used to play at the old clay mine pushing the old carts on the lines.
We lived on Havelock St. and played in the old Oates & Green site and the Clay Hill where Jerwood Hill Close is now.
Hi Maggy Mark Humphreys here - I've got a picture of your shop on my phone - get in touch and I'll send it to you. If you are still in Halifax we could go for a beer and a visit to Halifax Library where I took the photo of the picture of your shop! There's loads of pictures of Halifax from the 1960s & 70s as places were being cleared for redevelopment. Be good to see you anyway!
Hey up Hairy Humpheys! Great to hear from you. Unfortunately a beer will be a bit difficult as I am back living in Spain. However you appear to have one of my holy grails as I have no pictures of the old shop. My Spanish number is +34 711030788 and I am on WhatsApp. Let's keep in touch
Any more info on the Godley Cutting would be great it was a massive job in its time.please
Thanks for the pics Paul which are really interesting. Would you have any more of new bank/ Claremount road. Thank you.
Thank you very much for the upload.
Hello Mary Phillips,, my family moved from Cornwwall to Halifax,, i lived on Crown Road and went to Sunnyside school nursery then to Boothtown J+I then back to Sunnyside,,, went Sunnyside seniors from 1976 to 1981,,,i still remember a chip shop that was top of west view and round to the right,,,,,still remember the launderette just opposite Ackroyd school......i now live back in Cornwall but glad to see some old memories...
Nice to see the that shot of Boothtown Methodist Church. My dad was the minister there in the mid-'60s. The minister's manse was in Chester Road - now, that was a 'characterful' house.
I went to the Sunday school with my brother up to the mid sixties.
Ahhhh Woodside swimming baths, we lived on Woodside Road until I was five so remember the baths and park very well. I remember falling in the pond! I went to Sunnyside school. All mum's family lived around Boothtown, Claremount and Southowram. Happy days
nice to see the history
At time stamp 4:15 where it says "Not sure where this is" looks to be just below where KFC is now. There is a small path from Haley Hill that take you to this existing path down over the railway bridge to old lane.
Yes, I agree. I worked at James Heal (on Lake View, or behind Haley Hill filling station) and I think the shot was immediately to the south of there.
Does anyone have anymore photo's of Martin Street and Luther Street.....its where my family lived in the 60's. Thank you.
Martin street is in the video with the school visible at the top
Hi Paul, yes I saw them thanks.....just wondered if anyone had any more photos of Martin Street. Regards, Steve
