      I agree ppl get beside themselves about boys playing with dolls or kitchen toys but the reality is how will boys know how to cook unless they like to play pretend boys can play being a good brother a good father etc playing with dolls it all starts at the innocent age when they can be taught how to be and not learn from their surroundings although that tends to be the case but children are sponges they learn from the simplest of things if we just take the time to help them be optimistic rather than being pessimistic life is full of enough hardships why not make their little lives the best they can be

    Former homeschool military family here. OK gets very hot -, so make sure the AC cools sufficiently. If you do decide to go the home on wheels route, either sell or store most everything and go minimalist- clothing - books - basic dishes - that’s it. I personally would sell what you don’t need. The military only pays so much for storage, and what you would pay for storage in a year you could buy at the next place. It’s already going to be crowded - so the less the better. If you buy, selling in OK can be difficult. It took my brother a while to sell there, and the market isn’t the greatest right now. so maybe consider renting a townhouse . Make sure they have a military clause. Is living on base not an option? You also have to consider getting your vehicles to Ca and drive the motor home there - unless you sell it before you move - but consider you may lose money either way. Rent one for a weekend and take the family camping so you can get the feel of his it would be to have the 9 of you in a tight space. I miss military days.

      @Dominibarry Рік тому

      Wow, thank you for all that info. I didn't even consider the build up of storage costs over a year. The realtor we have spoken to has been very helpful. Depending on how long our house is on the market will greatly affect what we decide to do moving forward. I think renting an RV for a weekend is a great recommendation! Thank you for commenting! 🙂

      Our fifth wheel has two bathrooms. End bunkroom has two opposing slides, giving it way more floor space. RV life isn't easy at all. It does have its amazing times to tho. We full-time RV, because our 70-acre farm is in our home state and rent is crazy in the states we have been stationed in. We should be on our last three years and then back to the farm.

    • @Dominibarry
      @Dominibarry Рік тому

      @@staciehancock20 That is awesome!! Thank you for the comment. We want to settle down on a farm when my husband gets out of the military. That is our end goal. He has about 2 1/2 years left before then. We really like the 5th wheels. Our only downside is that we would have to purchase a truck to tow it. We have an NV passenger van but the most it will tow is up to 8 thousand pounds at the most. Lots of decisions to be made.

      The. plan is to try to RV for a year but we are taking it all in stride. We have no idea what will happen after the year. We are moving due to military reasons. We are moving to a different military base. So far the kids have enjoyed homeschool, although I'm sure there are days they miss public school. Overall this has been a good thing for our family. 🙂

      As a person who was homeschooled straight through, went on to college, and graduated top of my class I can honestly say that I don’t think it should even be legal. There are an extremely rare few parents who properly teach their children but most just teach them the “three b’s” Bibles, and Baby Birthin’. The stigma of being “homeschooled” will haunt your children forever. At nearly 40, married, successful in my career, many hobbies and travels, the first thing nearly every new person asks me is “Where did you go to school?” Followed by “Why couldn’t you go to a real school?”. I’ve been turned down for several jobs because the interviewer was unhappy to find out I was homeschooled. This is on top of the childhood trauma of having few to no opportunities for extra-curricular activities or friends. Those childhood facts of homeschooling also haunt me into adulthood. It has been a life long albatross for me and most other homeschooled people I knew. That said I do understand the impulse of adults today. The school system is despicable, both public and private. But homeschooling is rife with problems too. I’m glad I don’t have children because there is no acceptable way to educate them in today’s world.

  • @TheHomeschoolClassroom
    @TheHomeschoolClassroom Рік тому

    I think you are doing an amazing job including all of your ages 🙌🏾 We now have 6 children and II is tricky because the littles only need about 20 mins of a school lesson. Then what?? We are figuring things out and some how it all works together. Don’t hold on to the mom guilt so much. I can’t figure out how to get our 8month olds on schedule either 🤷🏾‍♀️

      We have been doing the Harry Potter series for the last several months as a family read aloud. Before that we read Narnia. Those are the only chapter books we have done so far as a family. We have honestly just stuck to reading the Mr. Men books as well as the Bob books before that. I definitely recommend Narnia. We will be reading a wrinkle in Time next.

    Hi, I stubbled across you page looking for more information on CMT. My daughter is meeting all the Markers for CMT. And has to see a neurologist and Genealogists next month. I would love to ask you some questions if possible!? She has been in PT since she could walk. She hasn't improved any and this is our next step along with leg Braces. I'm not sure what yo expected and how testing goes.

      Hi! I am more than happy to answer any questions you might have. I'm assuming CMT runs in your family history? We have been through numerous testing as well as all kinds of PT from our 16 yr old all the way down to when my twins were about a little over a year so any questions you have I am more than happy to answer. As far as testing, back in 2013/2014 is when we first had testing done. We had to all have blood drawn to be tested and it was a bit of a difficult process bc they had to take quite a bit of blood to be tested. I was even tested as well. It took a few weeks for results. Fast forward recently when we saw the geneticist for my youngest two, I was expecting a blood draw, but it ended up being a mouth swab which was 100000% better than the blood draw. I'm not sure if it was bc we already knew the exact type of CMT that needed to be tested or not. It takes a few weeks to get results and I think that is probably the hardest part. Depending on where you live and where the hospital is located that you will be seen at is also so important. We are a military family and in a small town so we have to travel between 2.5-4 hours depending on the hospital we are seen at. Leg braces were a game changer for my oldest son. He got his AFO's when he was 12, he probably should have had them a year earlier than that. Stretching was an absolute must and we even did some yoga together to help. The worry that I always had with leg braces is that he wasn't able to exercise his calves while wearing them and bc CMT is a progressive disease we had to do our best to exercise those muscles when he wasn't wearing his AFO's. It's like a rock and a hard place bc you want your child to have stability but you also want them to work those muscles they still have. I will be honest and say that when my oldest got his leg braces I was optimistic that just stretching and yoga as well as exercise would be the only thing we would need (along with leg braces) as long as we were consistent. He was adamant that he didn't want surgery. He was terrified. I think we were both a bit naive bc by the time he turned 14 (2 years ago) his feet got so much worse. We were putting crooked feet into a brace that wasn't helping him. He was walking on the sides of his feet and he finally said he wanted the surgery. Idk the type of CMT your daughter has or if she walks on the side or feet or if it's just a severe foot drop problem, but depending on her age and severity of CMT you will most likely be given options that include surgery. Surgery was always a last option for us but it was something we ultimately did. My 9 yr old twins aren't affected as badly as my 16 yr old so we may not need to go that route. I apologize for droning on so long. If you have any other questions or I didn't answer what you asked then let me know. Also, before seeing any of these doctors my advice is to write down as many questions as you have to ask them bc it's just so much information to remember them off the top of your head. I hope I have been able to help in some way!

    Hi! I am 27 years old and FINALLY went to the dr for my feet. They looks just like your sons.Please keep sharing updates as my dr is recommending this surgery and I’m a nervous wreck about it 😭

      Absolutely! He’s been doing physical therapy for a few weeks now and it’s going well. We will do an update soon! My son felt the same way about getting surgery and even when it was first recommended he was absolutely against it. Now he is ready to get his second foot done. Lol. If you have any specific questions about this surgery don’t hesitate to ask, we can even answer any in our next update video.

      @@Dominibarry Thank you! I am so happy you guys tackled this now. I wish we caught this for me when I was younger. So glad it’s going well and I will absolutely be following your story! There isn’t much real life updates out there from people with CMT and going through this surgery, so you both are truly helping 💜 This might be better answered down the line as he heals more, but my main questions are what can he do comfortably now in comparison to what he couldn’t before? For me now- I cannot walk barefoot at all , or stand in the shower without feeling like I’m going to fall. Also did he have to get his Achilles lengthened? Can’t wait to hear how Physical therapy is going!

      @@SamanthaStevenssAs far as things that are more comfortable for him now versus before surgery, he's not quite there yet but he's not far off. He no longer walks on the side of his foot which had caused him a lot of pain before. He doesn't walk on the side of his foot now but he does have pain due to re-learning to walk and he does have some screws in his foot as well. I'm not 100% on whether the Achilles was lengthened. There was SO much done to his foot and although we have all the paperwork for him, it's written in technical terms that make zero sense to us. Lol. They moved his heal bone completely and also removed a portion of his foot bone as well as transferred some of his stronger tendons over to the weaker ones to help give more stability. The surgeon also did something with the nerve transfer that uncurled his toes as well. It's a slow process for sure but I wholeheartedly believe it is 100% worth it.

      side-note- Ezra wore AFO's before surgery because he couldn't walk barefoot without them. He still needs an AFO on his right foot but he hasn't been using it for his left. We aren't sure whether he will still need one after physical therapy is done but the surgeon is confident that he won't have to wear AFO's again after he is completely recovered. The surgeon did say that it also depends on the patient and how consistent they are with physical therapy and how they handle the recovery process in general. It's just a wait and see kind of situation but we are cautiously optimistic.

      I always wonder how 3 small humans need this many things. I’m kind of a snob and I buy expensive things even for my kids but very very very little stuff. Like we don’t even need dressers because a small closet is usually like 75 % empty after each kids clothes are hung ( they do have separate rooms) I also don’t think having a room so full is inviting to kids. I don’t care what anyone says, children are human first and children second. They have internal needs for tranquility as well. I also don’t agree with the “ cheap furniture for kids room” because while you may think expensive furniture will get ruined, it’s actually the opposite. Expensive solid wood furniture can never ever get ruined unless you take a saw to it or start smashing it with a hammer. I do love the setup but honestly Idk why 3 kids need 2 giant dressers. I love her videos so I’m not hating on her at all, I’m just always shocked what Americans call “ minimal”. Everyone is shocked when I open my garage door and it’s completely empty. It’s like such an American thing to go to Walmart and buy 100 bucks worth of junk clothes instead of buying 2 nice shirts. Like the amount of stuffed animals would add up to 100s of dollars of Chinese junk when I’d rather buy 2 hand knit classic looking beautiful ones for my kids. I know I’m weird but I just prefer quality and it is not true that children want more, it’s mostly the parents
