Im going to say this for all of the teachers who are watching this video: the students who are disrespectful to teachers might have parents who aren't raising them to be respectful, or it might just be the lack of accountability in the school itself that is causing these behaviors, or it is a combination of both. I am a mother. I put two children throught the educational system and i fought teachers and administration the entire time! My children did have discipline at home. I was constantly being told how well behaved my children were. Except when they were in school. The fact that they could literally sit in class and throw spit balls at teachers and the only thing that happened to them was a note sent home to me, was the problem. Children are not stupid! My two boys figured out that they could just throw the notes away by the time they were third graders. I wasn't recieving phone calls from teachers either(i was a stay at home mother and was always available by phone). I wouldn't even find out about things my children had done in school for a week or sometimes two. I tried to get teachers to discipline my kids. They told me they were not allowed to assign sentences, give ISS, isolate a child in the hallway, take away recess, give silent lunches, give failing grades, hold children back a grade for lack of maturity or lack of achieving academic goals, or any other form of discipline that actually works. I was forced to look teachers in the eye and tell them that no amount of home discipline is going to make children respect teachers who were unable to command that respect. If children are able to spend all day in school doing whatever they want to, and parents don't find out for days or weeks at a time, and the school doesn't reinforce the home discipline with strong enough at school consequences then there is nothing a parent can actually do. Teachers deserve to be treated the way they are by students as, long as they sit there and take the abuse. Does that mean i think children should be allowed to abuse adults? NO! It means teachers need to force the state and federal government to give them back the authority to deal with these little monsters! All of you should quit! All of you! Do not sit there and take this crap! Do something about it!

I can handle rude kids if the principal and district back me up. The truth is they don’t back teachers up but conveniently blame for everything at the teachers. And don’t think fellow teachers are your friend either they will make you look bad whenever they can. I like teaching but without principal support and backup i rather not bc the end of the day teachers will always get to blame

Wow, Andrea. The "7 o'clock" thing really hit home to me. I used to be a high-school physics teacher. It wasn't "if you left at 3:00 o'clock you're being judged". It was "if you don't stay to at least 7 o'clock every day, we throw you out at the end of the year"--and that's exactly what happened. LOL.

Literally every single thing you’re saying has triggered memories and is 100% true. I taught for 14 years and still have memories of certain situations that haunt me. I went into it excited, I’d get my room so cute every year, but the traditional direct instruction methods went away and it was partner party time. You hit every mark in this video. Pretty soon AI is going to be teaching our kids because nobody is going to want to be a teacher ever.

I was an educator. I am so happy that my autistic grandson is in an online private school. (Financial scholarship). My great granddaughter is home schooled. She participates in a homeschooling program that is excellent. She has time for many other activities and experiences. She has sone dance, gymnastics, golf lessons, soccer, swimming and 4-H). Both kids have single parents that do cooperative parenting. The family makes sure both kids learn many things including cooking, car repair, hunting & fishing, sewing, work ethic, gardening, tech, etc. I have high school granddaughter in public school but is doing her senior year at the community college in a program. An excellent program. The girl is very motivated. I guess we are lucky to have options.

Yes, many other jobs have similar stresses and you can't just go home and flip a switch to not think about work when you're home. People quit those other jobs for similar reasons, they are simply not healthy environments to be in.

Don’t feel bad about wanting to be with your child and not at work. It is messed up. Americans get screwed with maternity leave. I got 2 weeks paternity. Company gave me one and I have another vacation. I needed every day. People don’t realize you need to be there for labor, which in my wife’s case took a week. So I’m supposed to go to work while my wife recovers day 1? I just started the job otherwise I would have taken more time.

Whenever you were asked, or told that something needed to be done by Monday and it was the weekend, you should’ve simply told them I am not currently in my contracted hours, that will have to be something that I complete during my contract hours. End of story.

Teacher from England, everything you're saying is identical to how I felt in the last 10 years of my career. It nearly killed me and it was the biggest contributor to my health issues. In the end it felt like trauma. I would add to the list that it was the constant monitoring from management and governors. I'd go in with dread every day. Took redundancy early. Couldn't face any more of it.

Many teachers describe anxiety. Teachers are so emotionally abused so no wonder they have extreme anxiety.

Teaching is beautiful in theory because you want to see children find their passions and build their language and see them learn because it's beautiful but teaching is not like that any more because children are not interested. They have their electronics now and they have no discipline at home or anywhere so all they want is to watch videos and they have no attention span to learn anything wholesome.

seems like you took the job too seriously and you had the opportunity to leave because your husband is well off. Most people do not have such easy opportunities. This is a job. You do it and you go home. You do your best and you don't expect anything from others.
