Looks great man...I'm painting a new tailgate for my Blue Z-71...it came primer black..Should I put a white base coat before Painting it with the blue or does it matter..thanks
I would scuff it good and use light Grey over the black and then paint white. That's how I have always done it.

The bolt on front of the motor closest to the fuel pump, remove it use one of the bolts from the fuel pump lift up the pushrod tighten a bolt with your fingers, it will hold the push rod up install your fuel pump, put one bolt in the fuel pump to hold it on remove the longer boat from the front of the motor put it on your fuel pump tighten it down, put the short boat back in front of the motor. Old trick, I learned from my old man works like a charm

@sushi121 believe it or not the fame is clean . The rockers, doors are about normal for the age up here. I think they just forgot to use seam sealer at the factory.

Best thing about a truck. In a pinch the bed can come off 2/3 easy to reach a lot.
@danielday3940 yup. I have a video where I pulled one to do the bedrails. If all else fails pull it off and patch it up. I have pulled a few in the past sometimes it make it easier to get to everything.

I was re watching your vids got myself thinking about one of my favorite songs. ZZ Top- I Wanna Drive You Home Your 85 Bird you mentioned a possible LS install. I LIKE IT! You also mentioned your an Engineer? and you work on cars??? That's Kinda different most Engineers I know Can Create you a masterpiece on paper but can't even change oil in a car. Again The ones I've met.

That's actually the cleanest ever that I've seen anyone cut the hole out in the rear of one of these third gens. How did the resealing look and how did you do it? With gasket or sealant? I've changed the fuel pump in my 3rd gen at least 9 times and I just can't bring myself to cut into her like that.
I have a piece of 16 gage sheet metal, I'm planning on welding a piece to match the curved part I cut out to help fit and seal. My plan is to use permatex gasket maker and I'm planning using rivets to fasten it on the car. That way it's nice and flat under the carpet. I haven't sealed it back up yet because I'm planning on running new fuel line and cleaning up the install first. I will post a detailed video on sealing it back up. Thank you for commenting!

Hey bud, I love the opening line pushing the car"should have been a fishing you tuber" I know keeping cost low. It's a 87 looks like 305 EFI . You ever think about putting the fire in the bird? Could be a long term project I definitely would watch!
Yeah I was considering eventually LS swapping it but I found out it has a High Output 305 motor which is a one year, one model only option which makes it rare along with a one year only color. But it has a nice cam and is high compression compared to a normal 305/350 from that era so I may look at some performance upgrades instead. Right now I just want to drive it lol but yes I'm looking at some upgrades later on. Thanks for Commenting!

The specs 75 ft lbs, I did on the driver side but my torque wrench broke so I just snugged up the passenger by feel. Probably a little more than 75. I had everything checked when the alignment shop did the alignment. I only had to drive it a mile to the shop. Good catch though.

Yeah hoping to get back to the firebird today. The bulb was a 1157 on the truck. I have been recording just have a bunch of editing to catch up on. Thank you for the comments I appreciate it and new videos will be coming this weekend.
no way in hell im putting an ole exhaust manifold back on after all that work when a new one is $100
The new manifold was half as thick and required a lot of modifications to fit correctly. According to reviews online they lasted about 2 years before they cracked. The old one lasted 20 and was not cracked it just had a broken bolt that's why I re-used it, and used the money to do a full tune up on the Jeep. I chose to reuse the old one because I knew what to look for and the old one was ok, but I wouldn't blame anyone from just swapping it out. Thanks for commenting.
The before and after detail is a real eye opener as to how these things are put together and what happens when they are neglected. The adage "A stitch in time saves nine" couldn't be more true when it is applied to RVs. Really impressed with your approach and "it's better than it was."
