Thank you for the comment! It may look like it’s anchored in there but I think it’s just touching the pick guard and merely just resting on it as opposed to pushing off it for stability. I honestly tell my students to find a comfortable position and if they find it works for them, go for it. A lot of guitarists have weird styles but sound amazing. I think at the end of the day, if it feels comfortable and you’re able to generate speed and dexterity with chords and soloing, then nobody is really going to care. Out of curiosity, what is your teacher’s reasoning for that?

@ oh got it! The reason for trying to make me "unlearn" anchoring my hand with my pinky is basically that it gives me more freedom and fluidity to the playing, I kind of agree but struggle to drop the habbit. I'll try harder then!

@ some also say anchoring could help you play faster. I mean your hand placement will probably change depending on what you’re playing! Good luck brotha!

@@blessedpigeon6304oh for sure! Yea, the Gypsy jazz style is very much different in terms of hand placement, makes sense now! I don’t do a lot of Gypsy jazz but I always wanted to learn this one. Very unique how the Gypsy jazz players use their picking hand in that slanted fashion. Maybe I’ll try more Gypsy jazz stuff in the future! Thx for the comment bud!

I honestly forget what I put it through but I recorded it in logic but made sure I had a chorus effect in top of the overdrive with a bit of reverb and delay. I forget what modeling amp I used, I’ll have to check.
