Tesla Air Compressor and Tire Repair Kit 3.0 Review
This is a review of the Tesla Air Compressor and Tire Repair Kit 3.0 that I personally own and purchased from the Tesla Online Shop using my referral bonus points.
If your vehicle does not come with a spare tire, this kit could be useful in some emergency cases.
This is a note from the Tesla website about the The Tire Repair Kit:
Note: The Tire Repair Kit is intended to be used during emergencies and should be considered a temporary fix. See a tire specialist as soon as possible or before driving a maximum distance of 62 miles (100 km) on a repaired tire. The Tire Repair Kit can fix holes no greater than 6mm in diameter on the tread of the tire and cannot repair any punctures that are on the side wall of the tire-in these cases, contact roadside assistance. The maximum operating time for the air compressor is 30 minutes, and it should be left to rest for 60 minutes-exceeding the 30 minutes on could damage the air compressor. The damaged tire should be replaced, along with the TPMS sensor, at your earliest convenience. Replacement tire and TPMS sensor are not covered under Tesla vehicle warranty.

Personally, I have always used a spare tire in my unfortunate experiences of having a flat, so not having a spare tire included in my first Electric Vehicle sometimes make me feel uneasy. So to somehow alleviate this anxiety, I carry this kit in the car, hoping it would be able to fix some cases of flats like punctures from tiny nails, until I get home, reach the tire repair shop, or get hold of Tesla Service.
Note that I also carry a tire plug kit and the Tesla Air Compressor will play its part by inflating air back into the tire after the fix.
It's a good idea to check your tire pressure for proper inflation periodically and the Tesla Air Compressor comes in handy for maintenance and topping off to the recommended PSI.
This video gives instructions on how to operate, as well as demonstrate how this product is used.

The problem with the tire sealant is that Tesla tires have a foam in them. If you have a puncture, the foam will prevent the sealant from getting to the punctured part to seal it. Get a battery powered portable air compressor and manual tire repair kit.

This must be the most consumer unfriendly and unintuitive gadget put out by Tesla. Putting it back in the proper place after you you use it is also a challenge. i seriously don't Think Elon is aware of this product. He wouldn't have approved it.

When I press the pump power button, the screen just flashes and nothing happens. Happened with my replacement 3.0 kit, too. Long press no difference. Any thoughts?

Mine does not flash when I hit the power button. The motor runs and it’s a constant lighted display even when the hose is not connected to the tire valve. It behaves the same way when I plug it to another car’s 12v. Have you tried plugging your unit in another car’s 12v source? If the same thing happens then maybe you have another defective unit. Btw, the power button is just one short press to turn on. The thing I dont like about it is that it is not tactile and doesnt actually “push down” like normal buttons. But if I press it right in the middle of the circle I was able to consistently turn it on or off.
