Ancestor worship think is as old as language, roughly about 2 million years old. And I’m here to tell you this is one of the greatest delusions and philosophies of all ages. Even the author of “Tao te Ching” Lao Tzu speaks about ancients being wise, compassionate and perceptive. Even today in Polynesia and Africa, they remove dead bodies after a year or two from the graveside, and they rearrange the bones into a smaller box and celebrate this person’s life with a big parade. Personally, as I reflect on the life of my grandparents, I am in shock. How were they able to feed 11 children in 1940s, in Russia on the bank of the river Volga, great steps of Russia where people were dying by the thousands from hunger. For some reason, in our delusional, thanking we imagine life was sweet and nice. We even created the idea of Eden. Where in fact humanity hundred years ago was cruel, brutal, and shameless.

This is absolutely amazing lecture, and I have seen many lectures about those wax portraits in the past 20 years on UA-cam. Anytime you see me at the Met in New York City I always spend an hour staring at those faces meditating, trying to transcend time. I also did practice painting with hot wax at Academy of visual arts in Warsaw, Poland. I will recommend this lecture to one of my followers on Instagram and of course I will post it on my Facebook page. My followers are mostly young artists with who I am sharing my 40 years painting experience.

This is so strange, I've been sort of transfixed lately (before seeing this episode) by Durer's self portrait. I've read so many conflicting and some ignorant opinions, such that Durer was expressing arrogance in comparing himself to Christ. I've been fascinated at a visual level, as to how the hand brings the viewer into the painting, and establishes such a connection with the viewer. Then again I kept looking at the strange pose of the hand's fingers over the heart.Durer was truly a genius. Your explanations gave me goose bumps. Incredible and thank you sincerely for adding such meaning, and depth.

Interesting on the anagram Coat of Arms the paints the left hand of the A and the Top enforced, so it resembles a T like Tor, or Tür, the lecturer seemingly never visited Nürnberg, and despite her overwhelming and deep knowledge about Dürer, she cannot pronounce his name.

Conversion is still a very big deal. I was born and raised catholic. My wife had to convert in order for us to marry. Not so much for me but for our children. For what the mother is the children are. I realize so many discount these traditions today, but to many of us, these traditions still matter greatly.
