Assign Macro Created Columns to a Columns Layer

During Advance Steel training I am often asked why my columns are a different colour and on a different layer than those in the candidates version of Advance Steel. I have customised the settings in my version of Advance Steel and this is just one of those settings and here is how I did it. Enjoy.

Paul Sellers Inspired Workbench

My new woodworking bench inspired by Paul Sellers. My first attempt at serious woodworking and I am pleased with the results. I mostly used hand tools for the project but I did succumb to the electric drill for the larger holes for vice fixing etc. I hope you enjoy the tour and please visit paulsellers.com/ - you too may be inspired to give it a go.

    Well, I must say, you've done an amazing job on your 1st ever workbench! I wish mine came out near as well. I'm especially jealous of the very smooth opening and closing of your vises ... mine must be out of alignment. What was your secret creating parallel rails? Very well executed and all parts appear to be completely square to each other. Well done indeed!

      Hi Sue. Thanks for your comments. I can't recall having any problems fitting the vices other than some careful measuring before I drilled the holes for the guide bars. If the vice is tight you may need to shim the mounting plate that bolts to the underside of the bench to check it's square. Also check that the guide bars have plenty of clearance around the holes you drilled in the face of the bench. When I built the bench I was in the same position as Paul Sellers in that I didn't have a bench to build the bench so I also build a set of tressles based on Pauls design. I've not used them since I built the bench LOL 😃 Post some pictures of your bench 👍

    The file name selector I believe requires either the sequence number or revision number. Using the revision number is not a good idea when using Autodesk Docs. Can the Sequence number token be found to be used in the Prototype list. Currently it is not shown in list of available attributes and tokens.

    • @ascadservices8564
      @ascadservices8564 3 роки тому

      Hi Murray I am not an Advance Steel software developer, I am just an enthusiastic user. If you think that the Filename Selector needs additional fields then maybe you could go to the Advance Steel ideas page and add the request. Besides, the Sequence Number is already an option in the Drawing Name tokens in the Filename Selector Regards Nial

    • @FliesEyes
      @FliesEyes 3 роки тому

      Hi, Sorry I was asking a question to know if the sequence number that is added to the file name is available as Token. I would use it like Sheet 1 of 3. I have a system built for a client that uses duplicate sheets for some assemblies. I can manually edit prototype but a Sequence Token would be handy. Sounds like it is not possible currently.

    Note ... Since the changes to the database engine in Advance Steel to SQL databases it appears that the ErrorMessages table in the AstorControlStructure database has also changed. The ErrorNumbers for the User Attributes 1 to 5 are now in the range 32771 to 32775 and not in the range 32756 to 32760 as stated in the video.

    Very Nice, like the 2 Vices. Did I hear you say that you're making some Honey Bee Equipment for your son. I'm a 2 year Bee Keeper and have made most of the hive boxes. Again Nice Job. Mike from Courtright, Ontario, 🇨🇦

    • @ascadservices8564
      @ascadservices8564 3 роки тому

      Hi Michael. The bee hives are on hold temporarily as I have been roped in for some DIY. My son has an old farmhouse and there is a lot of oak in the house. I have just finished building an oak frame for a partition wall - the oak will be expose so I used rough sawn oak and then weathered it. It looks great! I used mortice and tenon joints and oak pegs in the joints to draw them together.

      I can't remember exactly where I got the two vices from but loads of people sell them. Mine probably came from Axminster Tools but Rutlands sell them. Just search for 'Woodworking Front Vice' in Google. I think they even sell them on Amazon. Classichandtools.com do a good range. I stayed clear of the Veritas vices because it just seems to me that you pay extra for a name (like most Veritas stuff) Rutland Front Vice £49.99, Veritas quick release front vice £369.00. It will cost you an extra £319.00 to save you winding a handle and being able to tell everyone how you bought the Veritas because it is the Rolls Royce of vices LOL :0)
