Time to Extract Honey! | Summer Beekeeping
Time for our first honey extraction. We had two supers ( 1 medium and 1 small) off one hive and 3 deeps frames that we had pulled earlier and frozen until we were ready to extract.

Pulling a queen out of our resource hive to add to a queenless hive (#5) in our yard. We will leave the queen caged in the hive for a day or so to allow for some acclimatization.

We are testing out a new GoPro that we were gifted for Father's day while doing some checks. Got a couple of hives that aren't queen right so we are going to take a look at them to see how they are doing. Hive lost a queen during a removal so we are letting them requeen on their own. Check out the full video in the link!
Bees in a Column!! | Bee removal!
Переглядів 36421 день тому
Headed to Moreland, KY to check out a hive that had setup in a wooden column on someone's front porch. This was our first cutout and removal so we very much appreciated the experience. Lots to learn but we had a great time working on this column!

As it gets warmer we will start seeing a lot more of this on our hives.
June Inspections Part 2 (Queen Marking) | June Beekeeping
Переглядів 22728 днів тому
Finishing up our June checks on our last 4 hives. We were able to find and mark a queen but also discovered that one of our hives may be queenless but that is how it goes sometimes. If you notice we are doing something wrong or have any advice for us please share it in the comments as we would love to hear from you!
They are relaxing and calming to watch 😌🐝🐝 #relaxing #beekeeper #bee

Inspections of 4 of our newest hives. 2 were packages that from Dadant, 1 was a swarm we removed from a friends house, and the last was a split made from extra queen cells.

1 out of 3 ain't bad right? | June Beekeeping

We set out this evening to try and mark all of our new queens (3 left). It was a little raining and our inability to find queens caught up to us a little bit as you can probably guess how many we found and marked - check the title :). Still a good evening out with the bees!

Where is the queen?! | May Beekeeping
Переглядів 53Місяць тому
As we work to make sure all of our hives in our yard are queen right, the last hold out is a split (#4) that we made about 2 1/2 weeks ago with some extra queen cells. We have a looked a couple of times and in this video we were doing one last search before looking to buy a new queen. We ended up checking again about 2 days after most of the video was shot when the queen we were going to buy fe...
Nice!! Thanks for another fun update!!❤
You’re welcome! Thanks for watching!
Dang
It’s all good, it doesn’t bother the bees :)
This made me happy! Thank you! God bless!
Thank you and God bless!
@StingyCreekHoneyBees I just got my first hives, but I'm late to the game. So unless a swarm moves into them.I'm not planning on having bees until next year. I want to give them the best possible chance to survive the winter here up north
@@demetrajohnson571 That’s great! Not sure how far north you are but waiting and starting strong in the spring is a good idea for getting off to a good start. Hope it all goes well!
@@demetrajohnson571 Also it may be helpful to attend local bee meetings. I have found most beekeepers are friendly and eager to help.
@@StingyCreekHoneyBees lol all the way to maine 😁
I don’t know much about bees… do the workers ever reject a new queen?
Occasionally they will but she was caged in the hive for two days before release and they were getting pretty desperate for a queen since it had been so long. So our chances of acceptance were pretty high.
GoPro did great! 👍 I think the bees liked it too!
I think so too!
👋Hello😁
Thanks for watching!
Really cool! Looks like a very successful cut out. Maybe I missed it but what are you using for a bee vac? Homemade or something you purchased? Thanks for the video
It was homemade from a shop vac, used a dimmer to reduce the suction to make it safe for bees. Thanks for watching!
Busy bees
Amazing the knowledge these wonderful creatures have
I stay amazed!
The Smith trio hard at work a great and scary looking job!! Nice to see Aiden there!😊
It was great to have him, he was a big help!
As long as you have capped honey on the third frame, there is no way to find eggs at the 1st or 2nd frame (13:50) The first hive (as you said) will explode, it needs a super. It is full of capped honey and brood ready to emerge the next week. I don't know when you have a flow, but I think that your hives will swarm very soon if you don't give them empty frames to lay and store the nektar. They are in very good shape to hold them in that hive.
Thanks for the advice, going in today to move things around. Thanks for watching and thanks again for the advice!
Another great update! Thanks, you're doing an amazing work!! 👍
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for sharing your time with us.👍
Thank you, found your channel and subbed!
New beek and I saw 1 fight yesterday and 3 today. They we're dead bees being brought out. Should I be concerned with robbing?
Possibly, if you have external feeders I’d swap them out for internal or move them a good distance away from the hives.
Father and son bee keeping! SUBBED!
Thanks and thanks for watching!
Looks great!! Californians need some Kentucky honey! 😊
Yes you do!
What are those gloves, they look like driving glove?
They are from Apis Tactical. Really like the feel we have in them, here’s a link to their website. apis-tactical.com/
@@wakamoli8248 Do you experience a lot of stings through them?
Its a bumblebee😮😮😮😮🎉
What is it?
It’s a carpenter bee that found its way on to one of our frames.
Tho I know you weren't laughing at the time!😮
That’s the first time I’ve had a bee in my suit. It took me by surprise. I’m glad John David was able to capture the moment, slapping myself in the face is not a norm for me. 😂😂😂
Much respect for what you do - you guys are great!! Thanks for the humor too😂😃👍
Thanks for watching!
Her tattoo!!
She likes green.
That color looks good on her 😊
Yaay! The Queen arrived! 😀 Great video!! 👍
Thank you! 😃 We were getting a little worried!
Who ya gonna call...BeeBusters!😊
That sounds pretty good!
Call our manager/dispatcher Jr Samples at BR-549.😂
Beeutiful!
Thanks for watching!
Apparently honey bees are invasive and not actually a benefit for the environment.
I’ve heard some say that but experience tells me they are a huge benefit.
Yeah, that's not right. They pollinate about 65% of what we eat let alone everything else.
And then you made a big fresh box for them to make a new hive in?? ❤❤❤
Yes, the bees are in a new hive enjoying 1:1 sugar water and HiveAlive patties at their new home at Stingy Creek Honeybees. Thanks for watching!
The proceeded to pour gasoline into the vacuum 😓😥😭
@@AndOrNor69 oh noooooo!!!!! 💔💔💔💔
@@AndOrNor69 What? No gas! We’re not exterminators. We’re beekeepers.
A lot of work but more bees relocated to the Stingy Creek Honey Bees family.
Success!! And Liams box will catch up!😊😊
It definitely will!
Awesome footage!!! 👍 😊
Thank you very much!
Ohhh man! I was on the live stream for a second and had to jump off for a few minutes and now you're done 😢. But how cool to do a live stream!❤
Thank you for watching. We will try to have one every Saturday morning around 11am. Thanks again!
Pretty morning with the light fog.😁
Yes it was! One of my favorite pics of the bee yard.
Bees are looking great!! 😃 I showed Grami the video on tv...her eyes got wide she said Aye-yi-yi!!!!! Those are bees!!😂
@@lydiad1217 Hopefully she enjoyed the video!
Lydia, tell Grami we said thanks for watching. And thank you for watching as well.
@@StingyCreekHoneyBees She did enjoy it and was hanging on to the couch for dear life 😁! And she said 'oh they are all so nice!' ❤️❤️
👏👏 So cool!! Thanks for update!! 😃
Thanks for watching!
That is awesome. Great camera work! I can see why beekeepers like the black foundations. It’s easy to see eggs.
Great steady frame holding too!
Whaaat??! I just saw this ...😮
We ordered two packages and picked them up Thursday. I think our post office was glad to get rid of them!
That was intense- made ME nervous!😅. What happens to all the bees that were still flying around outside when you closed the box? Do they stay close to the hives or do you lose them?
The bees will stay close and find their way into the box to be with their queen.
They were ready for their new home!!!
Yes they were, video of the install is coming soon!
So much to pay attention to, great job guys....and bees!😊
Thank you!
Wowee- impressive!!
They were focused on the comb thankfully!
John David is the bee whisperer. He gets stung in the forehead twice then comes back and has them eating out of his hand.
He's got nerves of steele!! 😁
@@lydiad1217no unfortunately he takes after his dad. He’s not very smart.😂😂😂😂
@@Ed-StingyCreekHoneybees Hahahaha 😂😂😂 That's funny!!
Looking good🐝❤
Thanks!
I had 2 swarms today myself! Thanks!
We’ve not had any yet but we’re keeping a close eye on them. Thanks for watching!
So cool!
Thanks for watching!!
Wow, beautiful artwork- lots of talent!!!!❤
They are great students! Look forward to them painting more for us next year.
Lydia I was amazed when I went by the school one day , John David and I took a little tour and ended up in Vicki’s art classroom. They were working on the boxes that day. They were proud of what they were doing, but not as proud as we are of having their art displayed in our bee yard. Maybe some day they will come to visit us at Stingy Creek Honeybees.
@@Ed-StingyCreekHoneybees That would be amazing to have them visit you...another great video in the making!!! ❤️
And who knows how many future beekeepers are in the class!
@@lydiad1217you know life in general is planting seeds. Hopefully when the final harvest comes in, Jesus will say you knew exactly where to plant the seeds I gave you. He has given me skills and knowledge and ability I never knew I had. This is my prayer.
That is a pretty morning picture.
Thank you! Dad took that early one morning back in the fall.
Yikes! Better stay out of their way! 😄
