@28:00 What an exciting match turnaround Alan dancing with double six's & Alec's double ones, then Alan's six prime! Congradulations Alan you prevailed with 5 seconds to spare ;)!
Yeah, good close match !
13:00 The dice were 54 not 55. Black moved 2 men 5. Nobody saw it ????
Thanks for your comment. I don't see anything at 13:00 . At 12:46, Black rolled a 5/4 and moved the checkers accordingly.
Who's who?
Sabine Brinkmann (TOP) Bob Azari (BOTTOM)
What is his problem????
Who, what , where ? LOL
Interesting game at 55. Black got some amazingly lucky rolls and White got a few unlucky ones. You never know.
Thanks for you comment . Luck decides !
Great Match, @KarenDavis too good to Double payed off!
Thanks for your comment !
15:54 Silver rolls 55 but plays a man from his 10 to his 6 - 4 pips. Nobody catches it.
Thanks for your comment . The transcribers caught it but not the players. This happens often.
I am really enjoying your channel, especially this playlist. I have just started posting my own videos on Tardieu's book, and I'm giving your channel a shout out in the descriptions of my latest and future videos.
Thank you very much for your comment. We appreciate the future shout outs too ! We've got more of these Lessons by Sunny Florida's own player/teacher Gary Koscielny planned for the near future.
@ great, I’ll be sure to check them out.
Great match by two titans!
Ha Ha ! Far from Titans but thanks Jeff . Alec played an excellent 3.45 PR "after XG ++" but Lady Luck betrayed him .
The Presser method looks like it will work for me and thanks for the run through. It's mentioned that the documentation is on the SF Google drive, could you please direct me to how I can access this. Thanks Pete
Hello Pete, thank you for your comment. I'm finding out about this. I'll post any info that I obtain as soon as possible.
OK Pete. Please send a note with your email address to : sunnyfloridabackgammon@gmail.com . Gary will send the requested info directly to your email once you respond. Put your name in the heading. Please feel free to contact me if we can be of further assistance. Thank you , Nano Cabrera Co-Director / Tournament Director- Sunny Florida BG Club
Another proverb I've heard is something like "prime an anchor and attack a blot." So wheneve my opponent has only one checker in my homeboard and is a threat to escape, I hit. Usually, if the opponent only has one chevker back and you have both your checkers back, you're behind in the race, which calls for a bold move. XG puts a premium in containing opponents checker, so usually one is not far from the mark if they attack a single checker, and if thats not possible then improve structure so that its hard to escape.
Hi, thanks for your videos, trying hard to improve with it. I was surprised about the discussion at 28:10. Maybe it's because I'm not so advanced but I would have immediately slotted the 4pt to make it later and wait for a shot. However, I was interested in what happens if you move the blot from 24 to 23, so you could make the 18pt. I found out that now slotting the 4pt is still the best but there are 6 moves really close to each other, and making the 18pt is none of them. Maybe it's too easy then for black to jump behind
Great commentary😍
Thank you for your comment. Yes agreed, "World Class" commentary by two of the very best.
If I were this lucky all the time, they would call me "Joker Jeff"! @15:31 My apologies for trying to take 5 off and then not remembering the pre-roll position. Having a video recording is such a great learning tool. Thank you, Nano and Karen @SunnyFloridaBackgammonClub, for all the effort and expense to record so many matches!
Greetings! First of all thank you very much for making this series, Garry did a wonderfull job ! Garry mentioned that he will next review "Backgammon Strategic Concepts" by Francois Tardieu but you have not uploaded it... Will you publish it?
Hello and thank you very much for reaching out to us in the comments section. Strategic Concepts lessons 1.1 and 1.2 are now posted. More lessons to come, you can find them in our playlists section under "Strategic Concepts"
Awesome match, right down to the wire!
Thanks for your comment Jeff . Yeah, it went right down to the wire . Congrats to Carlos on a good win. Oh well, at least I rated pretty well . Maybe next time for me .
These UA-cam recordings are such a valuable learning tool! Thankyou @SunnyFloridaBackgammonClub
Hi Jeff, thank you for your comment. We're glad that the match videos are helping our viewers learn more about this wonderful game of ours.
Wow, you don't often see a Backgammon, especially from such an experienced player!
Thanks for your comment Jeff. We're proud to have one of the very best players in the world showcase his talents on our Sunny Florida Channel. Perry consistently churns out 2PR matches !
Those double threes presented a very tough decision for Julius!
Yes, tough indeed !
Good Match all the way!
Hi Jeff, thanks for your comment . It was indeed a very good match throughout ! Hope to see you defend your title this Sunday in North Palm Beach
In the first position if you move black's 5 point to her 4 point, it becomes a small pass.
Thank you very much for your comment. We appreciate and welcome the interaction with our viewers.
Another excellent video in the series, which is a Master Class on a quantitative approach to cube decsions. Critical to PR improvement. Gary is a great teacher. Thank you for these.
Thanks once again for your comment . We appreciate it !
This is a very well done video on an important topic. Cube decisions have a huge impact on equity, and Gary offers a thorough but fairly easy to understand way to make decisions. I am looking forward to the rest in the series.
Thank you very much for your comment. We are glad that you enjoyed the lesson. Gary is an excellent player and teacher, we are fortunate to have him here at Sunny Florida.
What a finish!!
Thank you for your comment . It was indeed a fantastic finish !
I think Alec should have taken those double 5s and ran.
I like how we recreated the first few rolls by putting the dice on the board so it's convenient for the transcriber.... and put the dice in the on the board in the one spot that had the most reflection and hardest ro read!
Well done Gentlemen !
😁
These are pros?
Thank you for your comment. We have players of all levels here at Sunny Florida BG Club, including players on the Giants of Backgammon list. Alan Steffen is one of the elite players in Florida.
At 23:28 Alec rolled a 5-2 but took a man off from his 6pt.
Thanks for your comment . We'll have to keep an eye on that guy ! LOL LOL Just kidding folks, we're all guilty of Illegal moves during matches. We are striving to get better at making mistakes during bear off.
@023:36 illegal move Alec took off the six with a five.
Thanks for your comment . Yeah, we are all guilty of Illegal moves in our matches. Last time that I played vs Alec I took 5 checkers off the six point with a double six roll during bear off ! We'll get better ....hopefully
Can’t see the white checker🙂↕️
Hello and thank you for your comment. The issue with the glare on the dice is the lighting. It's just as bad for the black dice as it is for the white dice. Unfortunately , our venues have lights above the playing area . The direct light causes glare on the dice. Look at our "Non-Tournament" playlist and you'll see that there isn't any glare on any of the dice at all. In the "Non-Tournament" matches we play at a private site where we have control of the lighting . We've tried our best to avoid direct light on the playing surface but it just isn't possible.
Cool 😅
Thank you very much for your comment !
@21:48 an epic battle & then two jokers!
Hi Jeff, thanks for your comment . It was indeed an epic well played battle with impressive under 4 PR's by both players.
i memorized the table years ago and still repeat it to myself every day and that effort has pay me back several times.
Thank you for your comment .
Funny game - w rolls double 2's and can't get a man off then b rolls a one. I have to laugh.
Thanks for your comment !
Sunny Florida Backgammon Club, You're so cool! Let's be friends and have fun!
Hi, greetings from Sunny Florida ! Thank you very much for your comment . I'm glad that you enjoy our videos. We have many more to come . We have a couple of XG Feed and Expert commentary matches currently in the works, those are fun to watch as the Experts comment and give their opinion as the match progresses . Plenty to enjoy .
'Promo SM'
Thank you for your comment
@Karen corrected the score to 5-1 at 23:03 proving her integrity! Sunny Florida is a great Backgammon club!!!
Thank you Sir ! We try
great session
Thanks for your comment. Agreed !
great game
Hi, thanks for your comment. It was indeed a good game !
56:31 W rolls a 53 but doesn't take the 3 pt. B has only 1 pt and 2 blots. That probably cost him the game.
Good observation. The best play was indeed making the 3 point. Just ran it on XG ++. This is the play: XGID=-bBab-D-BB-AcCA--b-caa----:1:-1:1:53:4:5:0:7:10
Why does white get to shut the clock off?
Hi, thanks for your question. What do you mean? Are you referring to white hitting the clock when he had 15 seconds left in the last game ? If so , it's because he couldn't move .When a player can't move he hits the clock right away. Remember , black can't roll until white hits his clock. Does this answer you question ?
Ist game: I should have doubled much sooner. (never got the chance)
Thanks for your comment Paul. You'll get it next time
Thank you very much for all you do to improve our game in South Florida, Karen & Nano! Sammy is such a fine young man, and an impressive BG player to follow.
You are welcome ! It's our pleasure to do a good job for all of our players and our viewing public. I second that emotion on Sammy, he's a fine young man and a future star for Sunny Florida !
Thanks for your efforts. It was very helpful.
You are welcome. We're glad that you enjoyed it!
