One of the Top 10 rarest games for the Atari 2600. Only two are known to exist. The game has 128 levels. It repeats (loops) after that, starting at level 2. The last digit in the score is used to track lives and is not part of the actual score. The second to last digit will increment if the number of lives exceeds 9. Excellent. Thanks for the tips.
which Joystick did you use?
Atari CX40
So cool!
Awesome!!! You got it!!!!! Heck Yeah!!!
Parabéns !!!
Nice! 😎👍🏼
EPIC
I see the similarity with Space Jockey. Since the games were both progammed by Garry Kitchen
Nice done pal!
well played! ive had this cart for about 7 years and I can barely break 20k. very good!
I turned over Kaboom long ago when it came out. I was just good at it. I wasn’t great at most other games. That was 40ish years ago. 😀 congrats though. 🎉
Well, That's one way to abuse a paddle controller.
😢👍👍😭💔
If you had the original cartridge, you would have the holy grail of all video games.
This game is absolutely MENTAL. I’m dying to try it.
Awesome!!! Great Job, great game!!!
Nice Play! great job and good skills! i actually own this game, in original ROM cart form, and used to play the heck out of it, despite it's simple and difficult nature....I cannot remember what my high score was (probably in this same neigborhood of 40k), been a couple decades since I busted out my old Atari. I remember a couple cheap tricks I learned on my own to rack up more points quickly by farming them off dead targets debris or something I think(maybe flying through the debris? Yes! and that also prevents enemy respawn temporarily, if I recall...it's all coming back to me now). it gets really hard after several minutes of play, as the tunnel narrows more and more. I can totally empathize with the deep breaths, and holding your breath, this game really kept you on the edge of your seat and on your toes, it was intense! my rating: graphics 2/5, sound 3/5, controls 4/5, challenge....99/5. overall: 3/5 with replay value being trying to do better than the last time...but at some point, you hit a wall you just cannot surpass.
This from a machine designed to play pong and tank. Incredible!!!
The H.E.R.O. "sequel" we never expected and didn't deserve... 😉
Looks like I am buying another game.
Well done!!! Greg!!
This game has just been TASed: watch?v=3fgNrv5ne9U
You can definitely tell this was a "beefed up" version of the gameplay "engine" that Coleco had previously used with the Smurfs...
Looks much better than I expected, even "really good". Hmm. They did a good job with the snake, making it a "surprise", like a real snake would be, lol, it freaked me out!
Very interesting read from the atarimania site, it actually looks pretty good to play. A good find Greg, and as always a great run!
TARZAN on the Atari 2600 is like a mixture of PITFALL! and JUNGLE HUNT. I even had the computer game of TARZAN for my Commodore 64 back in the 2010's. A big retrospective like 👍🕹️ from Vantaa, Finland 🇫🇮.
Impressive
I like how he zooms into the score like we can't see the giant 200 point Atari font.
Man, I can hear your breath. Really it's insane whay you did. Congratulations.
Doooood! I feel like I just went back and played my favorite game of all time! Your incredible. Thank you!
Yawn
I just hit 59,660 after earning the purple baron and was one doggy bone away from an extra life when I got nuked to 0. Great job on doing this with 4 lives intact! What controller are you using? I am using the Atari bluetooth classic joystick via PC on Stella.
I'm using a CX40. The original standard.
We used to play this for hours with my brother and friends, we would stop when dinner was ready
i loved activision games in the 80s you could take a picture on different games if you reached a certain score, and mail it in and they would send you a patch,, i had a whole box of them,, wish i couldve kept them but i was like 12 now im 54 LOL
knowing from playing that game and have gotten about 100000 myself,, using those paddles,, your arms , wrists , shoulders ,hands , elbows,, and your eyes and brain mustve seriously been hurting for days
Hello Greg, On an original Atari 2600 junior (PAL system) I made it to 27.92 today. When I look at your video I think you can win that 0.02 seconds in the very beginning. Or is there a real difference in systems? Good luck!! And I am positive that times like 27.51 are impossible. I have never seen a time ending with an odd number.
PAL and NTSC systems are different when comparing times. Here’s a PAL run (27.80) www.twingalaxies.com/showthread.php/148363 The fastest time for NTSC is 27.94. Unless a TAS run can prove otherwise. 27.51 is impossible! Never happened.
@@gregdeggames646 I thought so. Recenty I have heard that a PAL ColecoVision runs slower than a NTSC. Whatever, I know I am not done with playing Skiing! It's so much fun! Grand Prix will be next. I have some old PR's made in the eighties that I want to beat! Thanks for sharing!
Only a gen X'er will know what kind of achievement this is. STUD.
I actually did this once in 1982, we took a picture with a polaroid but the flash wiped out the TV screen, and it took us weeks to figure out we didn't get the picture, because we sent them away to be developed LOL so word of mouth only I guessssss!
You HAVE MY RESPECT… All Bow!!
Wow
Well done! This and Night Driver had that zen mode you could get into where the game just flowed.
This hurts my head 😅😂🤣🥴😵💫
There's something to be said about the variety of obstacles they managed to program into this game. Unfortunately, it barely does anything to hide the fact this is still very dull and repetitive gameplay wise...
Which describes 90-95% of the 2600 games... NOW, anyway. In the early 80s? This would be not too bad; could use a little speed, maybe more than one type of obstacle per "level"... Honestly, reminds me of the Smurf game, with inspiration from the Swordquest games
Holy Moses!!! That doesn't look bad, just slow scoring.
Points per screen varies (10, 30 or 50). Yes, slow indeed.
