Refused Closing Show Thoughts

The last show I saw pre-covid. Refused at the 9:30 Club Feb 21, 2020. Dennis Lyxzén talks about their first tour, feeling like sell outs, the privilege of being on stage, looking at our corrupt system, starting a revolution. Show was amazing, this band just gets better with age.

AmericanPsycho Music Monologues
Переглядів 1,2 млн14 років тому
a combination of all three music monologues that Patrick Bateman gives in the movie American Psycho. used for a class presentation.
The swishes when he dances 😅
1:27 Makes me laugh when he says "Do you like Phil Collins?"
Batman kills the joker.
I know Phil Collins from Tarzan
Patrick is on adderal. Haha
Sounds like Rick Beato
I love how patrick just completely ignores someone laughing at him and continues on with his glorious monologue anyways
THE GIRLS ARE GAY???💀💀💀💀
Every Jojo fan: *stand user things*
The terrifying part about the Whitney section is that his effort to "fit in" has let him come across as a truly empathetic man, someone you'd expect to be the apex of compassion. It's all a mask to hide his utter lack of those things, this is just what he thinks a normal person is through his alien outside perspective, even though his words carry such powerful messages we should all strive towards.
“Commercially and Artistically” do not ever go together in music. You are either commercially in it for the money OR you are artistic and starving to death.
Now lets hear Paul Allen's music monologue
I have that No Jacket Required Original 1985 disk, and now i can ask my girl "do you like Phil Collins?" Ngl, No Jacket Required is too good to be bad
How do you become this evil and sick? How? :-( 😱😱
1:08 The way he's dancing.. Lmfao :P 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I love this, he’s so good with words.
My versions Version 1: Do you like Hilary Duff? Her '02 work was a little too, cheesy for my taste but when Metamorphosis came out in '03 I think she really came into her own, commercially and artistically, the whole album has a clear crisp sound and a new sheen of pop and rock that really gives the songs a big boost. She’s been compared to Britney Spears, but I think Hilary has a far more bitter, cynical sense of humor. In 2007 Hilary released this Dignity her most accomplished album, I think her undisputed masterpiece is Gypsy Woman, a song so GOOD most people probably don’t listen to the lyrics, but they should because it’s not just about the beat and the importance of love, it’s also a personal statement about Hilary herself. Version 2: Do you like 50 Cent? I've been a big 50 fan since the release of his debut album Get Rich or Die Tryin' Before that I didn’t really understand any of his work, too artsy, too intellectual. It was on Get Rich or Die Tryin' where 50 Cent truly shined. I think In Da Club is his undisputed masterpiece. It’s an epic meditation on partying, at the same time it deepens and enriches the meaning of the proceeding 3 albums. Listen to the brilliant ensembles playing of other songs you can practically hear every nuance of his rapping. Version 3: Did you know that Gerald Levert's second studio album titled Groove On, had one number single on it, Did you know that chat? It’s hard to choose a favorite amongst so many great tracks… but I'd Give Anything is one of the best most powerful songs ever written, not about self-preservation or dignity, this universal message crosses all boundaries, instills one that it is too late to better ourselves. Since it’s impossible in this world to empathize with others, we can always empathize with ourselves, it’s an important message, crucial really, as beautifully stated on the album
2:30 and 0:00
I want to see him do a commentary on Purple Rain - Prince and the Revolution
Let’s see Paul Allen’s music review
"You actually listen to Whitney Houston? You own a Whitney Houston CD?" "I do. And I'm tired of pretending that I don't."
"By laughing at Whitney Houston, you have chosen death". -- Patrick Bateman
This was the most popular related text at Sydney Grammar School
There is something about the way he asks, "Do you like Phil Collins?" that makes me laugh every single time.
Fore! was released in 1986
I love how he pronounces the name of Genesis’ 1980 album…Duke.
same
I love his music monologues, i also made some monologues of the music and albums that i like, he is just like me
Bu filmi ilk izlediğimde lisede felandim o zaman popüler kültürün pek bildiği bir film değildi ,ne yazık ki Patrick bateman karakteri popüler kültürün oyuncağı haline geldi sofistike bir tarzı olmayan ortalık mali özenti ergenler artık Patrick bateman ismiyle Instagram hesabı açıyor ona özeniyor, bu karaktere esin kaynağı olarak can veren Ted bundy henüz popüler olmaya başladı 2-3 sene içinde ,filmde çalan Phil Collins, whitney Houston ve huey Lewis gibi şarkıcılari yıllardır dinliyorum bu film çıkmadan dahi dinlerdim, umarım şu sik kafalı ergenlerin eline düşmez bu sanatçılar, popüler kültürün canı cehenneme
"no Allen"😅
Hookers and romantic music 🎶 🎵, groundbreaking❤️
The first fucking 2 girls scene music name ????
Sussudio/Phil Collins
This is all New York pharmacy’s fault
“It had 4 number 1 singles on it” That’s the sole reason he listens to it lmao.
This us what Jordan Peterson meant by saying that the weak men are the most dangerous men
I don’t think Bateman was weak mate.
5 million dollar riiki settlement
N: Their early work was a little too new wave for my taste. But when Sports came out in '83, I think they really came into their own, commercially and artistically. The whole album has a clear, crisp sound, and a new sheen of consummate professionalism that really gives the songs a big boost. He's been compared to Elvis Costello, but I think Huey has a far more bitter, cynical sense of humor.
More than one 😂
The way he starts some of these monologues feels like the precursor to: "Ya like jazz?”
These monologues really added of the movie because they feel deeply rehearsed like he wrote the speech ahead of time which he probably did cuz he's a sociopath
This is literally me on a car ride with someone and I'm allowed the aux chord.
Most people probably don’t comment on this scene, but they should.
Patrick is the best music critique. They should make an entire movie of Patrick critiquing all sorts of music
in the book, there are full chapters
If Anthony Fantano was a serial killer
Sigma explaining how to listen music: Beta: *doesnt listen* Sigma: *eliminates beta*
I wonder what would his monologue would sound like for Cardi B's "WAP"! 😂🤣
In 95, Shakur released this : Me Against the World, his third album. Although it does not contain catchy gangsta songs like in “All Eyez On Me”, released the following year, it features a lot of personal songs about Shakur’s life and about the life in the inner city, like always. On this record, Shakur is far more mature in his lyrics, his flow and his intentions than on his first two albums, and less provocative than in All Eyez On Me -written after his jail sentence - where some tracks, from a personal point of view, can be a little repetitive. Me Against the World, on the other hand, is far more balanced. Every track fits right in place. That is why Me Against The World is Shakur’s undisputed opus magnum. This is “Can U Get Away”, a personal favorite.
Land of confusion is genesis’s best song
Did you know The Weeknd’s debut mixtape called simply, House of Balloons. Had no number-one singles on it? Did you know that chat? It’s hard to chose a favorite amongst so many great tracks… but the greatest love of all, is one of the best most powerful songs ever written, not about self preservation or dignity, this universal message crosses all boundaries, instills one that it is too late to better ourselves. Since it’s impossible in this world to empathize with others, we can always empathize with ourselves, it’s an important message, crucial really, as beautifully stated on the album
Do you like The Weeknd? I’ve been a big Weeknd fan ever since his 2015 album, Beauty Behind the Madness. Before that I didn’t really understand any of his work, too artsy, too intellectual. It was on Beauty Behind the Madness where Abel truly shined. I think Acquainted is his undisputed masterpiece. It’s an epic meditation on intangibility, at the same time it deepens and enriches the meaning of the proceeding 3 albums. Listen to the brilliant ensembles playing of The Weeknd’s As You Are, you can practically hear every nuance of his vocal cords.
You like The Weeknd? His early work was a little too, RnB for my taste, but when Starboy came out in ‘16 I think he really came into his own, commercially and artistically, the whole album has a clear crisp sound and a new sheen of pop and professionalism that really gives the songs a big boost. He’s been compared to Michael Jackson but I think Abel has a far more bitter, cynical sense of love. In 2020 Abel released this, After Hours, his most accomplished album, I think his undisputed masterpiece is After Hours, a song so catchy most people probably don’t listen to the lyrics, but they should because it’s not just about the insane beat drop and the importance of love, it’s also a personal statement about Abel himself
