Season 3 Episode 28: Season Finale- A Year in Review
We Catholics must now take up the fight against apostasy in Rome. Did not the Apostle Paul say in his farewell letter For the time will come when they will not endure doctrine, but after their own lusts they will teach themselves, and they will turn away their ears from the truth and turn aside to legends. Since the clergy do not have the courage to stand up to the vulgar morons and perverts in the Vatican, it is up to us lay people to fight so that we can say at the end , ‘I have fought the good fight, I have persevered, I have kept the faith.
Hi Christof! If that's your name and not a name you picked for your UA-cam handle haha! I think the thing that struck me from Josephine's episode the most was the real need to understand and rank Church teaching documents. None of the synod documents are magisterial, that is to say part of the teaching and governing documents of the Church that we're required to give our assent to. If the Pope puts out an encyclical or post-synodal apostolic exhortation following the synod (very likely) then that would be part of the magisterium, but it's highly unlikely that there will be much included on a lot of the controversial things because those have been pulled out of the synod to be looked at with study groups. Although I would also say I'm disturbed by some of the efforts to hijack the synod on behalf of various ideologies that are not compatible with our Faith, I also appreciated that Josephine spoke about the ways that Pope Francis has already indicated that something like female ordained deacons is not on the table, for example (based on his understanding that female deacons in the early Church were likely commissioned and not ordained). We have an episode coming out in a couple of weeks where we talk pretty honestly about Pope Francis and each of our views surrounding his Papacy, so that one might be a good one to listen to. Would love to hear what you think.
This is such an underrated Catholic Podcast!
Thanks!! We think so too 😂😂
Such a good listen!
Erin, do you think that maybe God wants you to "offer up" your pain as a higher good than the spiritual reading or doing something? Sharing suffering with God seems more powerful than whatever you may think you "should" be doing. Embracing your cross is a share with Jesus suffering with his. It's just a thought. It's probably a God wink that I just discovered this podcast. Lent is fast approaching so finding this podcast seems a God send.
Hi Barbara! Welcome to In the Thicket...it's definitely a great podcast for Lent haha!!! And definitely- you hit the nail on the head. I am pretty much constantly offering things up. There's a really great prayer that I use each day, too: O Jesus, through the Immaculate Heart of Mary, I offer You my prayers, works, joys, and sufferings of this day in union with the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass throughout the world. I offer them for all the intentions of Your Sacred Heart: the salvation of souls, reparation for sin, and the reunion of all Christians. Thanks for your kindness- it's a good reminder for me to watch for opportunities!
Nicole - thanks for mentioning that healing from trauma is possible even years later (therapy , safe people). 😌
Amen!! Healing is possible, even years later...that's something Sr. Miriam James Heidland says all the time, and it's so true! God is not bound by time :-)
Wow - this is so real. Thank you Rita for sharing your story … there is so much potential for beauty & holiness right in the mess of this temporal life.
Totally, right?? I love how God led Rita so specifically and really showed us an example of the gentleness and patience of His love for us.
What are your thoughts on this episode?
Wow. I really can’t tell you how much I needed to hear this today. How beautiful.
I’m so glad, Carolina. I also needed to hear it today, and I was part of the initial conversation 😂 Praying for you!
Thanks for letting us in on … a little bit of your lives! Looking forward to upcoming episodes 😊
Thanks so much for listening!! 🥰
This is so amazing!!!!
Comme toujours, mesdames, vous êtes raison!

So glad it was helpful, Christianne!
What a wonderfully adaptive and courageous woman.
She's truly an inspiration. So blessed to have her as a client.
Thanks for sharing. I found this in a Facebook group (I’m Casandra).
Hi Casandra! Welcome to In the Thicket :-) Glad you enjoyed the episode! We really enjoyed the conversation with Mary as well. So much insight into things people who are fully sighted might not think of in terms of both moving around in the world and the spiritual life.
Thank you all for this wonderful podcast. It has been a great honor to get to know Mary and to build up the blind Catholic community.
Hi Fr.! Thank you so much. It was such a gift to have Mary on. God is good!
Thank you so much, great way to close out Braille Literacy Month! Grateful especially for Mary sharing her story and being a great ambassador for our organization. God bless.
Thank you so much for your support and for connecting us with her!
@RJ Sandefur So glad, RJ! We loved speaking with Mary too!!
Welcome back, ladies. Sounds like life is rockin' all to plan. And God is in the catbird seat.
Using Destiny's child is just a sign of you finding God in all things Rachael! Very Ignatian!
Haha awesome!!
cf. Pints with Aquinas with Mark Fradd. Sr. Miriam is masterly interviewed.
Her episode with him was SO GOOD!
Some really good stuff here … good thoughts for those of us who cringe at possible conflict in dialogue … especially in our culture which encourages ppl to walk away or cancel anyone who doesn’t celebrate/agree with me. 🙁 Thanks … more of this please.
Thanks, Christianne! Amen to the culture and the tendencies to cancel people. Such an important topic!
Love your editing 👏
The Battle is the Lords , the Victory is yours. Pray non ceasing for this is Gods will for you.. As the book of Roman's 8:28 says, All things work together, for our good, for those who love the Lord, according to His purpose. Believe in this Word and live life GOD SIZE. KEEPING YOU BOTH IN PRAYER each day, , my beloved friends, Leon and Lor. May the Grace and Peace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you always. Amen.
Thank you, it was an interesting conversation. Congratulations to Liam on his persistence in knowing himself. You are lucky to have such beautiful friends.
