I’m resolving to slow down a little, enjoy my knitting more, keep space for those things in my life I hold dear and precious in my heart. Give myself the brain space needed to consolidate the memories of my little ones growing, and try my best to stop the endless scroll. Thank you for joining me. I was inspired by the book Stolen Focus by Johann Hari. It’s definitely a book I recommend. It has ...

Holiday Knitting Vlog | Frogging my T-shirt | Day 3

Another little knitting update to start the year off in the right crafty way! To be honest I’ve been knitting so much my hand is hurting a little bit, so video editing is a nice break to give my making hands a rest. I say that but I will probably just end up knitting on a project with larger needles 😂 Today we have 3 projects to talk about, and a bonus little finished object! 1. Grace cardigan ...

Holiday Knitting Vlog Day 1

Starting off this series with a simple child size sweater! Of course we have to make it with some beautiful colour shifting yarn 😍 I am omitting the colour work off of this piece because my tired mum brain can’t handle that level of concentration right now, but I’m looking forward to making more complicated knits from this book in the future! I followed a tutorial for Norwegian Purl stitch by @...

❤❤❤❤wow!!! I love the sweater
Love your video and I’m very late to the game, but I’m about to start making this jumper too! I wondered what size you went for and how much was your gauge off by when you realised it? Xx
I think I went for the second smallest size but my gauge was off by at least 4-5 stitches, but it ended up being fine and oversized!
@@loavesandletters that’s amazing thanks so much! Yeah I think her pattern is already quite oversized anyway, so was considering doing the small or medium size
Love your blossom & buds blanket!❤😊 and your granny squares!!
Thank you! Happy making!
Btw, loving your podcast. Your work is gorgeous, and i too wish i could knit for a living.
Thank you, that’s the ultimate dream 🥰
I'm making a circular blanket which starts out with leftover sock yarn called the Anthology Throw by Helen Stewart. Good for leftovers and mini skeins. Beautiful.
I have seen that it is gorgeous, perfect for using up scraps and so satisfying!
those mittens are so cute! the yarn is gorgeous
The colour is just perfect for them! Makes me want to buy more yarn….
I think that flipping mittens are so much cosier than fingerless ones!
So practical and cute! 🥰
Will you do a no buy year with me? What will be your personal spin to the challenge?
i'm on a lowbuy this year, cheering us on!! love from NZ 🥰
Fabulous video! Thank you for sharing!
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks so much for commenting!
The tilted camera angle makes me feel like I am your child, sat on the high chair, watching mama speak to me while I am calm, safe and happy in the kitchen, with cookies baking in the oven.
We love the cosy vibes, a bit of sugar in the air makes life all the more sweet 😉
Hahaha, you got me at the end! So glad I found this video, but also scared that the algorithm knows me so well... Great list of factors! My ideal number of WIPs is probably two or three at different levels of complexity, but I currently have six going. My issue is I tend to set something aside when I get to a complicated bit, which is fine if I only have one or two other things to work on because I'll come back to it quickly. But if I have too much other knitting to choose from that complicated thing can sit for *cough* years, ask me how I know! Then when I finally get back to it, it wasn't even that hard! I'm working on picking up those abandoned projects this year and hoping to end the year with only one or two recently-started WIPs. We'll see how that goes! (Ooh, I should try out the 30 minutes of knitting idea...)
That sounds like a great plan, with an even better timeline! It sounds very achievable. So glad you found me! We really live in information overload,I guess it’s a double edged sword. I found knitting through UA-cam, but it has also taken over my life! Too many amazing things to discover and knit ☺️
So sweet to see how excited you are about your knitting! I'm currently working on a cardigan for mother's birthday, and a tank top for myself
That sounds amazing, what a lucky mum you have! I’m so lucky to have discovered this comforting hobby 😊
Nice haul. I love our indie yarns here. Love your Jersey 😊
Thank you! 😊 I can’t wait to go again!
Hi Jennifer, think of doubting yourself as a spark to creativity. There will always be that voice saying “I don’t know?“…. But as long as you give it a try. It’s a beautiful and positive thing.❤ Life is not always easy but loving and learning from our experiences is what makes us grow as a person. Have a wonderful New Year from your fellow Melbournite.
Hi Anna, thanks so much for your lovely and kind words! They have definitely made my day. Sometimes a little mindset shift is all you need. I hope you stay cool in the heat today.
@@loavesandletters yes such a hot day today. Thank god for cooling or it would be too hot to knit 😄. Just set up my new yarn swift so l have to stop myself from casting on new projects. lol 🤣
Hi Jennifer, the cardigan was a great quick knit, very cute. Hope you’re enjoying your holidays so far.
Thanks Anna, hope you’re having lovely holidays too! It’s nice to have a quick win sometimes, I’m seaming up the rest of it now!
Can't wait to see more :)
What an amazing outlook on life you have. It’s so true, we so forget to enjoy the moment that life gets away from us. ENJOY. Your WIPS are looking amazing❤.
Thank you Anna, just the comment I needed to start my day :) I will keep working on my videos. Happy knitting 🧶
A lovely episode Jennifer. I too am from Melbourne but live in the western suburbs. It’s nice to see your adventures out and about in our lovely part of the world. And of course the yarny adventures. I too love looking thru the mill ends from spotlight. ❤
Oh I’m so happy you found me! Yarny adventures are among the best kind of adventures. Mill ends are a recent discovery for me after I joined the Facebook group, the search is quite fun. ☺️
RUSK
What a great surprise!
I love your striped sweater. You have made those colours play so well together. Best wishes from a Canadian knitting podcaster!
Thank you! Best wishes to you too, I’ll go check out your videos!
🥰
Nice to catch up on your knitting and life journey. It’s tricky juggling all the places at this stage in life. Enjoy the good bits! 😊
Thank you, I’ll try my best!
Your bread looked so good!
Thanks Nancy! It has taken a few failed batches and lessons learned to get to this stage. 😄
it's such a great idea to stripe the background of your colorwork with similar colors! I'm totally on board with the sustainable/thrifty mindset--so much of what people buy new is already out there. It's fun to see the creativity coming out of what you found secondhand.
Thank you! I find that working with constraints always leads to more creativity and fun problem solving. It makes for some very satisfying stash busting too. Thank you for your comment 😆

Yes! Books are the perfect companion too
Love your channel been binge watching ❤
That is so sweet, thanks for letting me know. Thank you for watching!
That purple sweater is SO pretty! I love the white colorwork. It looks amazing! 💜🤍
Thank you! It really is so lovely and dramatic, I can’t wait to see how it looks finished up!
Me too!
I found you through UA-cam studio (apparently UA-cam recommends one of my videos after people watch this!) So excited to watch more of your videos - I love following other knitters with babies ❤.
I’m so pleased to make your acquaintance! Haha I think my baby likes eating yarn as much as I love knitting it 😅 I’ll check out your videos too!
Too repetitive. Too long. Keep on topic and don’t ramble so much.
Thanks for the view
Love your socks! What yarn did you use? Thank you!
Fiddlesticks brand 4 ply sock yarn in the colour mulberry crush! knittingyarns.com.au/products/fiddlesticks-sock-yarn-4ply thank you!
Cute scrappy sweater! Doesn’t even look scrappy at all 😊
Haha I got lucky with the colours, it does look very cohesive 🥰
Just not enough hours in the day - especially with little ones. 😊. I’m retired now and get through a fair bit but could still do with more hours in the day! Happy knitting 🧶
There may never be enough hours to knit all the things and use up all of the yarn. Lucky every stitch comes with a little bit of satisfaction. I hope you have a nice day 🙂
I have a strong feeling that you hadn't shown us how you dyed this! I remember a while ago you dyed some yarn with avocado skin, perhaps? How did you get such a vibrant red?
I mixed Christmas Red food colouring with a bit of pink food colouring! It is quite bright, not exactly what I was going for, more of a raspberry red, but still fun!
"That's yarn!" It sure is buddy
She is my own personal heckler, at all times of the day, also sometimes she pulls a night shift and keeps going in the dark as well.
I absolutely love the energy in this video! I think your channel is a great mix of both calm soothing chill energy that I can listen to while I do something else, and also the bright happy passionate energy where half a dozen projects zip by my eyes! I also LOVE that sock that's rainbow coloured with the reverse white pattern. It actually looks like a painting. And of course, I love you and your work! ❤❤❤
Thank you for the detailed comment!! Your encouragement means the world to me and I value all of the conversations we have. I need to keep going on that sock, but I also have a million other things I want to make!! The choices are never ending. You’re the best!!
Wow! That's a Really Cool Gray Sweater That You're Wearing At The End Of The Video!
Thanks! It is a shop bought sweater but could totally knit one like it!
It came together!
We made it!
The blue hat is amazing! I love that style of knit. Thanks for another lovely video! 🥰
Thank you! You are too sweet. Have a lovely day! 🥰😍

Hello! I love your videos and have been watching them for a little while now. You are honestly my favorite UA-camr because of how calm and sweet you are! It makes me so happy to see your videos on my feed. I hope you continue sharing videos of your beautiful work because I love seeing them. I wish you the best of luck with your channel and happy crafting! 💜💜
Wow this is the nicest comment, thank you so much! This has honestly made my morning, thank you for reaching out and letting me know. It really is very motivating. I hope you have a lovely day 💕
@Loaves and Letters, thank you, and I hope you have a lovely day, too! 😊
The colour stripes look so nice - how do you weave in the next colour?
Most of it is self striping yarn, if I need to add a new colour or ball of yarn, I use the “weavin’ Stephen” method. You can find a video on UA-cam, he is amazing!
Such a cute croissant! I mean, scarf! 🥰
I’m so in love! I’m so happy for both of us!!
@@loavesandletters you should definitely make one for yourself!
Haha added to the very long list of projects!
If and when you buy sock blockers, make sure you order 2 or they come as a set. I have heard from others that they only got 1 expecting 2.
Thanks Nancy! I’ll keep that in mind
Embrace the neck brace aesthetic! Just kidding, this was such a cute scarf
Functional and stylish all in one
Love the scarf! So lucky to have talented friends like you. 🥰❤
Yay! Even luckier to have you in my life! 🥰😘
I can also relate to the satisfaction when you get past the point of where you had to rewind the yarn!
It’s pretty high up there on the feel good knitting scale!
The scarf is going to be so pretty! I know what you mean about knitting past the yarn you had wound up.
Thanks Nancy! Haha you are also no stranger to frogging projects.
I love your shawl so much! It's probably one of my favourite versions I've ever seen 😍 And if you're re-knitting the Togetherness Socks again, I would love to knit them with you!
Thank you so much Lauren! I like how it is a dark moody green with the grey. Yes, I’ve started it again in a smaller size, it’s such a comforting knit 😊
Can't wait to see how the cardigan top turns out! ☺️
Thanks for the inspiration and ideas! Waiting for the right time to come but I’ve already pulled out all the yarn I’m planning to use 🙂
An artsy cut to black cinematic boxes at 4:35 really highlights how hubby needs to drive you to get more yarn. Just a thought.
Hahah he knows my love of yarn all too well 😅
