2014 Lexus IS300h Hybrid battery swap
Переглядів 20 тис.3 роки тому
A video outlining the strip down and refit of the replacement hybrid battery for my 2014 Lexus IS300h. The car has covered 181,000 miles in 7 years. 15 years worth of use @ 12,000 mile per year in half the time. We believe that the mileage was the reason for the battery failing, it has literally worn out. Thanks to Lexus Exeter for supplying the battery and also allowing me to return to remove ...
interesting, pretty easy do this job. Does it needs any coding afterwards??? Anything to tel ECU that battery changed? new or second hand, obviously same voltage and that but if its used maybe needs to tell ECU the mileage or something??
Dont u guys get 16 years of warranty on the hybrid battery? Like in europe
Fantastic work, great instruction and attention to detail! Thank you!
Great video, nicely detailed! I'd like some advice please. What should I look out for as I would like to purchase a is300h 2013 with very high mileage around 190k miles! Are the engine and HB battery reliable? How check?. Thanks
Brilliant video ….. the million dollar question is …… how much was the replacement battery and was it purchased on an exchange basis? Do every dealer offer this or did you need to find one that did? Thanks again for the very professional video and explanation of everything 👍
Don’t pull the battery out with bare hand , those metal edges r sharp as hell 🥲
To add to the disclaimer: It may not be wise for an average guy with a 2-car garage to do a HV battery procedure. This man knows what he is doing well. There are literally separate certifications for mechanics working on HV components for safety of both the mechanic and subsequently the occupants and those around the vehicle. If you are confident in your skill level to handle this procedure, you'd still need to check with your local transport authorities about whether it is acceptable to do substantial HV work on a road car that the general public may come into contact with; no doubt some countries would not allow this. Above all, don't be overconfident. HV connectors have safety interlocks and are mostly as safe as reasonably possible, but it doesn't mean that they are entirely idiot-proof (or HV certifications wouldn't exist). It's 'only' 230V on this Lexus, but anything over 50V DC has a separate set of requirements in all sectors of engineering according to most work safety laws.
Merci pour le travail et le partage !
Спасибо, полезный опыт👍
thank you dude, it helped me a lot ! My 2014' IS just passed the 400k km with the original battery, and i just found a battery from a 120k km wrecked IS not so far. I hope it works as well as mine used to. The symptoms that decided me to replace the battery pack on my IS are that this year, recently, as soon as temperatures went under 0, i had twice a day the "hybrid system failure" error message with the code P0A7F and P0A80. When I start (at a traffic light for example), the vehicle takes time to launch, as if the accelerator no longer gave control to the engine. This symptom appeared a few times when I used ethanol (in the summer) in the past. Once the hybrid computer has been reset, operation returns to normal. This winter, the symptom occurs almost continuously. So I decided to replace my battery pack. If the new battery pack does not work well, i will try to refurb and upgrade my old battery pack with lithium cells... 🤖
I have a problem with my IS300 Lexus There is an HV hybrid code appear in the abs module when i scan it with a scan tool My problem is the abs warning ⚠️ light is on the screen and am facing brake problems the brake system keeps on pumping and the brake peddles move up and down I change the abs module but still pump hard and soft Can the hybrid bad battery 🪫 affect the abs?
Hi
Hi think my one has failed at 149,000. My is300h that I use as a taxi still runs but only on petrol with engine management light on & message telling me to stop vehicle & Hybrid system Failure. Lexus want to charge me £155 to tell me what's wrong with it but reluctant to go. Does this sound like the Hybrid Battery to you? Thanks Dave

Hi . Where exactly are you based? I need to change the battery on my is300 . Do you have a garage? Regards
Bought this car a month ago, running great until now, what else can you tell me about it thanks
How do you do for the driver side? It seems to be more hard... 🤔 I try with my Lex but fail for the moment...
Thanks
Great video. Thanks. I have IS300H 2014 and done 95000 miles . Altough the hybrid test passed ok recently , since last year mpg is between 34 to 38 (before was around 45 to 48) .Now ,with full battery driving in EV mode is not possible more than half a mile.On board display goes from full to empty in 5 min or less . How long can you drive at low speed in EV mode with this new battery ? Is my battery close to dying ? I would much appreciate any opinions .Thanks
a bit late , but 1.5-2 miles on flat surface , no stopping/accelerating fro mzero, no traffic , just pulling forward using own momentum
could you drive this vehicle without the hybrid battery? just gas engine?
I wonder if you can swat the batteries from an auris 2012 with a new models ones 2020 Corolla let's say.
Possibly, I would check the part numbers, if they are different then they won’t swap
Great, great, great job... thanks a lot, I wonder if Lexus Germany sells the battery like in UK... keep them coming 👍🏻👏🏻
Thanks, I can’t see why not as they are a standard part
Thanks for the upload. Where did you source the bulb from & how much? What sort of mileage is the car on.
I bought them from Amazon, Ozram D4S bulbs, they were about £32 each. Not cheap but these have lasted 215,000 miles and the lights are in nearly all the time, the old ones hadn’t failed they had started to flicker a bit and it used to irritate me
@@twokeys6560 Cheers - what colour temp did you go for?
OE is 4300k I have fitted 6000k, a whiter light
thanks for the great video. what mpg were you getting before it failed? What was your average mpg after the new battery? did start to get close to 50mpg on new? i get 43mpg on mixed driving on a 2017 f sport new facelift model did you get a message on consol to change or notice it would not charge? other car owners, please share your mpg and battery experience. thanks
I do a lot of motorway driving and the fuel consumption dropped from 50mph down to 42/43 mpg, however I wasn’t too worried about this as it was a really cold spell and normally when it goes cold the mpg drops I also got the “check hybrid system” error in the dashboard, that’s when we knew we had an issue
Did you have to remove the rear seat to access the vent during the battery change?
No, you don’t have to remove the rear seats at all to do this job. In order to get at the vent fan for the hybrid battery you do need to remove all of the trim in the boot on the right hand side of the car
Do you provide this as a service to others?
Thank you for the highly detailed video! How did you know the battery was dead - was there a message on the computer?
On the dashboard there was a message “check hybrid system” it wasn’t until we plugged in a laptop that had Toyota techstream installed that we could see there were a couple of cells that were failing
I got this car i use as a private hire cab in Colchester.... How many miles had this car done for the battery to need to be replaced? This is worrying me 🤣
I did 185,000 miles before mine started playing up
@@twokeys6560 I got 120k on my clock, must cost a fortune for a new battery from lexus, if my battery gives up I will try and get a used 1 from a low mileage IS that has been written off
😡
hoodlum
yes and with no regards for others property
Why did the hybrid battery die??
mileage, the car has done 181,000 miles in 7 years
Excellent instructions. As everyone wants to know, why did the battery die after 7 years? How long are they suppose to last? I'd hate to imagine what this would cost if getting it done in the dealers. You were very lucky that you were able to go back and recover the missing parts from the old battery before the dealer disposed of it. Well done for attempting it yourself.
Thanks, mileage, the car has done 181,000 miles, the car is used as a taxi and so racks up massive mileage a year. a normal car doing normal mileage per year most likely won't need a replacement battery in its life
hi there, how often do you need to change battery on is 300h?
under normal circumstances I would say that you shouldn't need to change the battery, this car has done 181,000 miles in 6 years
I have a 2016. Lexus told me the battery would last 15 years obviously that is a lie.
They have 10 year&or 300,000 km warranty. That's plenty.
this car has done 181,000 miles, at 12,000 miles a year that is 15 years worth of use in 7 years.
@@twokeys6560 I put 15K miles a year on my car here in the US that is nothing. You had a defective battery for sure. Most Toyota hybrids go well over 200K on the original hybrid battery.
Hi, what was the reason to change the battery? are they so bad at a car from 2014?
mileage, the car had travelled 181,000 miles and is used as a taxi
Amazing job, may i ask how much did you pay for the battery? Thanks
Thanks, the battery came from Lexus, cost was £1900
@@twokeys6560 So how much do they charge for a replacement done by themselves? Must be another 1900 on top I'm guessing.
Great Video, thanks
Thank you
