Airing the tent

We haven’t managed to get camping yet this year and with the Adventure Bike Festival coming up, I thought it would be a good idea to check the tent, mattress and chair. Pleased to say everything was fine. So roll on 22nd June!

Переглядів 902 роки тому
Dads On Tour tried to go for a ride out together. As you can see, that didn't quite work out. We finally met back up and enjoyed breakfast at the Route 1066 Cafe in East Sussex and then a run to Hastings.

We fit lowered foot pegs to the BMW F850 GS. Pegs were bought from Nippy Normans. Hang on to your hats (or helmets) as it is quite the roller coaster ride.

Hello, thank you for your video, on the F850 GS, i need to buy the screwdriver to remove the protection. It is a Torx but what size please ? Thank you
@@aristide3897 hi there it is a T50 size.
@@dadsontouruk Thank you Dad !
La marca en el estriado es para que puedas regresar la palanca a su posición original. Yo no me metería con el Quick shifter
Talc/baby powder and thay will fall on 🦘
You forgot something important: Make absolutely sure there's some play between the brake pump and brake lever! Also, there is no need to remove the pivot pin from the lever, the pin that goes in the brake pump rotates freely.
Awesome video!!
Thanks!
Just take a scissors and cut it in 2 sec. Don’t make problems
Doesn’t matter if he used a meat cleaver as long as the cut is straight. Great video, good end result.
Misleading - the new pegs are not lower!🕊️
I have a loan F 850 GS from my local dealer, completely brand new, zero miles when handed over. The technicians had gone home so I had to take the bike without the gear lever adjusted. I only realised I’d forgotten to sort it on my commute to London the next morning. It was a nightmare. Anyway, long story short, I tried the spline movement and couldn’t get the shift to go up the gears, only down to first and up to neutral. BMW Assistance came out and set it. The tech used the spline and said you shouldn’t really use the shaft on the quick shifter since it increases the stress on the thread. Anyway, I don’t have long with this because it’s an awful bike for (long) commuting after a GSA and an RT. The telescopic forks after having Duolever (on my K1200S) and Telever, are scary and a nightmare! The wind protection is dreadful, and the engine is like torturing a cat. If you’re into adventure riding predominantly, I could see why you’d buy one. If you predominantly road tour, then an RT, GSA, or a K1600, is what to buy. I hate the 850GS, I can’t wait to swap it out on Tuesday for the RT loan until mine comes back.
Really helpful - thanks!
I thought my eyes were broken. Did you shoot the video in a mirror? 😅 Anyway, good gen and thank you. I’m having a problem with knee angle on my GS and this was good to see. Cheers
It's a good time getting that spring in there!
Thanx for posting
I thought that I would need to move the actual shift lever one spline but it looks like I can probably get enough change by adjusting the quick shifter like you demonstrated. Thanks.
It’s tent time
BMW F750 GS July 2022 build ~ There was no way I could ride comfortably with my size 13 boot and the factory lever setting. I did two adjustments; 1) I managed to get 2 turns up top and 3 turns at the bottom to shorten the whole quick shift assembly (not sure why they need the lock nut ?) - when reassembled it gave me about 8mm and lots of clearance on the casing. On my ride today that wasn't enough so when I got home I 2) did a one spline lift (clockwise) and that gave to another 5 or 6mm - will give it another work out tomorrow. It is such a superbly designed bike in many respects it's a pity they didn't put a bit more adjustment engineering into the Quick Shifter with some barrel bolts. Thanks.
That helped, thank you
Great day out!
They are some cool dads!!
We sure are. Cool as cucumbers.
Hi, i am curious, how are the grip puppies when it’s raining? Do they turn into a wet sponge?
Good question they are fine, the water seems to run off them.
@@dadsontouruk thanks for reply
After a year of soapy grips 😅
The gearbox is on the right side of the motorcycle??
That’s just the camera flipping the image around. I promise it’s on the left in the real world!

Greetings from Canada. Also have an 850, so interested in your mods. Hope Ryan was interesting, good Canadian lad. Thanks.
brilliant. do a good breakfast there. I think getting separated adds to the fun sometimes or just makes for good conversation. great video.
We didn’t realise there were so many roads leading to one place. Thanks for the comment and see you at the cafe sometime.
@@dadsontouruk just finished my chop so should start going up soon
Good job. Easy method. Thank you share
Bit of tape would have been handy, never leave home without it, what lid is that? subbed.
Funnily enough P bought me some gorilla tape after this. I shall carry it always!! The lid is a shoei hornet. The peak is held on with plastic screws/bolts. Now replaced with metal ones!! The other side broke when I replaced them!
Very nice! I’ll give it a like!
