A little bit about myself. Shortly before my retirement four years ago I bought an ebike. I'd cycled all my life but mostly only in the context of commuting to work. The ebike (Cube 625) has opened up new worlds for me, especially in terms of access to the Dublin & Wicklow mountains, and I've cycled over 20,000km since its purchase. I've also cycled many times in the Canaries, initially in Fuerteventura and Lanzarote, and latterly in Gran Canaria.
The reasons for me recording clips of some of my cycles are twofold:
Firstly, I ain't getting any younger and I don't know for how much longer I'll be able to go for cycles of 70-80+km. I want to have memories to sustain me should I be forced to restrict or give up cycling.
Secondly, I want to encourage other people to take up cycling and to suggest various route; an ebike is a great way to get back to being active. You will get exercise and will travel further as you gain confidence.
Happy cycling to all of you!

Gran Canaria Cycling: GC-604 descent. Pt 2. 4K
The GC-604 is an amazing route that runs from the GC-60 main road in the centre of the island to Maspolomas in the south. It has an asphalt start and finish, with an alarming and highly dangerous trail section through the Parque Natural de Pilancones in the middle. (ua-cam.com/video/CNrjKC5QkI4/v-deo.html).
Thus, ordinary vehicles do not traverse the full length of the route, but it is great for trail cycling. This clip continues from the first sight of Maspolomas to entering the outskirts at El Tablero.
Shot on a helmet mounted GoPro10 camera on the 7th October 2024.

Approaching the end of the Parque Natural de Pilancones trail that runs for 22km through a high pine forest. The scariest part is in this section, where there is a sheer fall along one side. I decided that discretion was the better part of valour (!) and walked about 250m or so of the route. You can fast forward to about 02:40 to when the cycling starts again. Apologies for the delay afterwards...

The GC-602 trail that goes from Ayagaures to the GC-60 road from Maspolomas is technically a dirt road, but it would be a brave driver who would undertake this route in a car. However, it is spectacular, and not overly difficult for a Mountain Trail Bike. There are some rough patches, though, where I would recommend walking, especially if travelling alone as I was. This obviously wouldn't apply...

The Mirador Astronómico de la Degollada de las Yeguas is a spectacular viewpoint on the GC-60 road, about halfway between Maspolomas and Fataga. On leaving the viewing area the road descends steeply through several sharp turns and hairpin bends towards the valley floor, before climbing again towards Fataga. BTW - the relatively slow speed of descent isn't just due to my fear of heights! The fro...

The Carrigaline to Crosshaven Greenway runs along the final section of the old Cork to Crosshaven narrow-gauge railway line. The portion of the railway was built in 1904 and closed in 1932. Youghal ('Yawl') is the easternmost town in County Cork, on the estuary of the River Blackwater. Located on the edge of a steep riverbank, the town has a long and narrow layout. Yeah guys that walk is so long :p
butifull place we come this summer on holiday to Taurito :)
Prefer going UP that hills due to the surface
Good point!
@ --but certainly makes for a better film descending!
One of my favorite GC roads
Lovely route.
I love this, I remember this road so well. Thanks
Glad you liked it. Cheers.
outstanding, I was wondering how safe it is to ride a bike around Ireland.
Thankfully, I've never had any issues with other traffic. Probably that just means that I’m lucky! I find it more comfortable to cycle in the countryside than in the cities and try to find quieter roads. Have you any particular areas that you’d like to explore?
Hello! Im on Fuerteventura now, is it good road on cofete? I wanna rent MTB a try it. Do you have your ride on Strava/Garmin?😊
Sorry I missed your query! The road to Cofete is mixed; quire rough in places on the road from Morro Jable, not too bad on the descent to the beach itself. These links will give you an idea what the road is like. ua-cam.com/video/WN50rkQhgQ8/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/2rVy8V8X6X0/v-deo.html Unfortunately, I don't have my rides on Strava/Garmin; I may do so in future! Volcano Bikes seem to be the only decent bike hire place in Morro Jable. volcano-bike.com
This is an amazing climb and descent!!! I rode from Esquinzo to Costa Calma where I picked up the FV-605 and rode past La Pared to Pajara, After a cafe stop I went up and down this climb, fed the chipmunks and ravens biscuits at the top and rode back to Esquinzo, it's a must do climb. Great Videos
That's a good cycle! I know some people don't like the barren scenery in Fuerteventura, but I love this particular descent. It mightn't be as spectacular as say cycling to Cofete Beach (ua-cam.com/video/WN50rkQhgQ8/v-deo.html), but it's hard to beat for road cycling.
Awesome!
That it is!
Looks amazing. Which is the best way to ride this road?
It probably depends on where you're starting from. I base myself in Caleta de Fuste and go from there to Antigua via the FV-413, then the steep climb to Mirador de Guise y Ayose, down to Betancuria, along the fabulous road in this video to Pájara, then back to Caleta de Fuste via Tuineje and Agua de Bueyes. It's about 80km and I prefer to do the big climb to Mirador de Guise y Ayose first, just to get it out of the way while I'm still fairly fresh. Going in this direction has the added bonus that you're riding next to the drop edge of the road and is thus a bit more exciting! You can see more of this journey in these clips: ua-cam.com/video/KZtZrde8yfI/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/X3Qd6IcZgT4/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/X3Qd6IcZgT4/v-deo.html
Sehr schön,alte Erinnerungen werden wach.
Das ist einer der Gründe, warum ich diese Videos mache. Es ist schön, auf sie zurückzublicken, wenn das Wetter kalt und nass ist!🙂
looks like there is a lot of wind very often over there
It can vary! The prevailing winds are westerly, coming off the Atlantic and bringing rain.
Wow! Great videos! You must have felt a mixture of fun and suspense. Wow!
Glad you like them! Yes - it's a lovely cycle down to the beach. I was so engrossed that I didn't notice that I was humming happily to myself for part of the journey!

Well done. That's some climb!!
Yes - the views are spectacular! As I do point out though, I'm on an ebike so I ain't no superman! Huge respect for those who complete this on a pushbike.
Beautiful scenery and a lovely walk would never swim in lough Mahon though those currents are a death sentence
Really enjoyed your bike ride great place
Glad you liked it. Always a nice place to visit. Pity the weather hasn't been so good lately!
Nove footage
how fast should a car drive on that road normally? i wanna go there but i get nervous driving on narrow roads
Most of the road is fine for driving. It is a little bit narrow in places but careful driving will see you safely through. Just slow down entering blind corners. (At 05:25 I think the car takes the corner much too quickly). The trip is worth it for the magnificent views along the way.
friend, Like it, well picture. see ya-
Love the place was just thier 2 weeks ago sant Rosa
Sehr Nice❤Mfg Peter Preis Dinslaken
Freut mich, dass es dir gefallen hat Peter. Schade, dass der Tag nicht sonniger war.
Having ridden those hills in both directions, it's great to see someone has made a video of it. On my last decent, I was caught behind a coach which I caught up with on every bend and had to brake almost to a standstill, most frustrating. A real mental and physical challenge. Well Done. I am hoping to tackle the route again at the end of April 2023.
Bit of bad luck with that coach. Congratulations to you on doing it both ways. Hope it went well for you Sean in April. This is one of my all time favourite routes to cycle.
How far on the path from Hotel Globalis Tropical to the airport path,walking...thanks
It's just over an hour's walk.
Seems you are pretty fast. Great.
Well I'm pretty fast on an ebike! No way I'm getting up there without one!

Going to fuerteventura in May for the first time any tips what to do not what to do anything would be very helpful thank you
Lots to do in Fuerteventura! Car hire is relatively cheap but there's also a good bus service. You can expect nice weather in May but not too hot - mid 20s°C. As Fuerteventura is a windy island you may not realise just how hot it is so be sure to have a high (30+) sunscreen. Most hotels are good value and everything is geared towards tourism. Corralejo in the north and Morro Jable in the south are worth visiting. If you hire a car be sure to drive along the FV-30 road from Betancuria to Pajára, stopping off in Betancuria for a meal. It's a lovely scenic road with lots of nice views. You can have a preview on some of my other videos on UA-cam. ua-cam.com/video/lCGJdHyZdGo/v-deo.html
Great videos, thank you!
Glad you like them!
Great video. Try making longer videos.
Nice video beautiful part of Dublin
Well done, a tough climb up there.
Keep in mind that I have an ebike. Still, tough enough for somebody my age (and weight!). I have the greatest respect for people who make it to the top on ordinary pushbikes.
