Hi! im Marcus, im a 16 year old drummer from Canada. I'll mostly be playing metal on here but i also love fusion, funk, jazz and many other genres in that realm. enjoy my videos!

Even a month after this I still can't believe this is real, it was such an incredible opportunity and honour to play with haken.
I must thank all of the guys in the band, Rich, Connor, Charlie, Pete, Ross, and Ray. But specifically thank you Ray so so much for allowing me to do this and letting me take you're spot for 7 minuets.

The first time a Haken song was ever attempted there, and with the inevitable snafus (like the backing vocals being deafeningly loud in my headphones 😆, among other mix issues) that come from this crazy type of musical undertaking where musicians from around the world come to play complicated Prog rock songs together with ever rotating groups of musicians with only 3-4 minute changeovers, no rehearsals together, and no real sound check...... It's crazy but awesome.....I've played Porcupine Tree, Rush, TOOL, A Perfect Circle, VOLA, Tesseract, and The Contortionist at Prog On the Ranch as well as Haken there before. And recently played A Perfect Circle Judith and The Outsider with the Jeff Berlin's son Jason Berlin playing Bass, and last year got to jam on a Jeff Beck toon with Jaco Pastorius's nephew David Pastorius who's played with Carl Palmer's ELP Legacy, Pat Travers, and so many more...... Prog On the Ranch is cool as hell. By the way, that is my drum set I'm playing which I supplied as backline for the festival. Hope you enjoy. Regards, Dr. Dave

Haken is a contender for one of my top groups of all time, which is saying something considering I listen to 3+ albums a day - what an incredible opportunity and awesome video. I am only left to wonder HOW??
Two things! First I practiced this song everyday for about 6 months lol, and ray , their drummer, is my drum teacher! I’m so grateful that I could have this experience and i can’t thank Ray enough. And yeah haken really are so good I probably listen to one of their albums a day lol

(just wish your floor toms were miked and higher in the mix) I loved how you also played Ray's part like he does at 5:15 regarding the double strokes moving between the snare and crashes. Your snare and set sound great as well (just gotta mike those floors better in order to do justice to your playing and execution of these difficult parts). Bravo! Many years ago I got to play Surrounded during Dream Theater's soundcheck during their Images and Words tour after sending Mike Portnoy a videotape of me playing almost all of their first album as a teenager (Surrounded is ALOT easier than Nil By Mouth 😁 by the way).......one of several cool experiences with Mike and several other drummers I admire. Ray and the guys of Haken are soo freaking cool, nice, funny, and talented. So many great experiences with them as well. So happy for you buddy, and I look forward to seeing more of your stuff, and perhaps also communicating drummer to drummer as I am a total drum nerd. 🤓😁

@@drumboyd I was hearing what Ray would hear through his in ears, I was just plugged into his pack so I got his full mix, this was in Toronto on march 25th. And it happened because Ray has been my drum teacher for over a year!!

Yeah they’re fantastic!! You should totally check out their latest album fauna, they’ve really found their own sound. You should also check out their drummer Ray, he’s an absolute beast!!
Haken is the next generation Dream Theater. Whenever Dream Theater retires, Haken will carry that torch.
