Guess you can call me a hardcore pro. Willing to help those who are willing to help themselves. I will fish to whatever the circumstance requires. Whether I fly fish or gear fish, I hold no prejudices against anyone as long as they fish with ethics.

Bad weather was our main issue, but finally, getting out with Randy and meeting Cliffe from Victoria was a beautiful day. It started slow with seals, but with patience, the salmon started to show.

Amundson Outdoors Hook Stress Test
Переглядів 14Рік тому
As avid fishermen, we have personally encountered or heard stories of the elusive "one-in-a-lifetime" catch that slipped away due to straightening hooks. I was challenged in 2021 to test the strength of the Amundson Outdoors hooks under significant weight by using 15 and 7-pound trolling lead balls.

Danger of Fishing the Spits
Переглядів 2,9 тис.Рік тому
I have always warned anglers who wish to fish the spits to be extremely aware of tide changes and how fast they can come in, isolating you on the spit. It is very easy to lose track of time when fishing is good. Near the end of the video, you can see the farthest spit, and there is over a 10-foot difference in height from the main beach. Here is an example of when we vacated the spit and return...

January
@@prostaffcastingaline you were catching salmon off the beach in January?
@@oscarlambert3525 No, you asked when I posted the video. Beach fishing for the East Coast of Vancouver Island is from July to November
cool. love the short format
Fantastic breakdown of a popular way to rig a steely-worm. - Well done, good sir. 🎣
Did you go to Gladstone Secondary ? Van east .
Yes, were you a fellow student?
Excellent!! Shame we cant get them in the UK.
Excellent video.
Great video Gil. I'd like to make an observational and experience-based comment. This 'T' stop with its wide base, creates (seen here) a rather unnatural tail presentation at the worm. The more effective method for the 'T' stop is actually when mounting the worm reversed (head down). To further this comment, I'll add the suggestion. When using the worm in this 'traditional' method (tail facing the hook) use a conventional float-stop and gently bury it inside the worm. You may find the various sizes (stoppers) useful to match well with the width of your worm. Summary: Use the 'T' stops when mounting crazy rigs a.k.a. head to hook. Use the 'Oval' float-stops to secure worms when mounting tail to hook.
I always say if it works for you ( reversing "T" Stop, do it. That is why it is called fishing.
Beautiful! Been on Vancouver island 2x Had great time! My favorite was coho fishing from the beach:) Sockeye salmon is only one i didn't caught yet.. Hopefully next year ill manage to go there again:)
Thank you
castingalineblog.wordpress.com/2017/04/30/osmosis/ Here is the article for curing single eggs
What cure did you use..For those eggs?
No cure just non iodized salt
May I ask how you’re preserving those single eggs? What is the liquid in that jar? thanks
Non-iodized kosher salt
@@prostaffcastingaline how much salt do you use & how long do they last pls?
@@Itwasntalieitwastrueinmymind use as much salt as it takes to have 1/8 of un disolved salt at bottom of jar. ( max salinity )
Can you do a video of how you put up the eggs in the jar? That’s how my Grandads looked and I haven’t been able to repeat with any other product.
@@FreedomSquatch I wrote an article for a magazine in this. Lets find it and I will post it
I really only use them in steelhead trips, where you cast so many times and they last longer on the hook. Also less messy than handling skein roe.
Nice one Gil! Great looking roe bags.
Nice video man! Im going to Campbell river for 3 weeks fishing holiday. leaving Scotland on Thursday morning:) Cant wait to get there and try to catch some salmon from the beach! Any advice appreciated:)
At Campbell river, there are many beaches for salmon. Saratoga, long beach, and black creek are a few. your fishing shallow so light gear and lures no more than 1/2 ounce .Good luck
Thanks a lot! Will do my best;) Tight lines!
Try port renfrew in September lol
what an amazing sight!!
Another amazing event you would not believe until you saw it. 30+ Chinooks caught in a tidal pool trying to escape as the tide starts to rise
Thanks a lot!!!!!!
Can you get spare spools for this reel?
