    I loved the refinement, comfort and ride of my bmw bike but the one thing it totally lacked was that strait up punch that a bike with true power gives you. Watching this video brought me right back to when I was riding mine and when taking off it would just leave me with the feeling of "C'mon bike!" 1100cc's of oatmeal....

      I had injector upgrades from tills.de and iridium spark plugs. gabe the bike an enormous increase in response and gave it the “oomph” you would expect from an 1100cc boxer. mind you it still had most of its torque in the lower rpm’s, but if you want topend power you’d have to go for an inline 4 😉

      @@Oldmanmotoring I hear ya... exactly why I sold my BMW and purchased the Godzilla of all bikes, a 05' Suzuki GSXR 1000. 164 hp, 370 pounds dry and a crazy top speed that I only touched once of 209 mph. THAT bike was a monster

    Can I ask what the black, round thing is on the centre of the right handlebar? Ive got one on my 1999 R1100R and I have no clue what it's for!!

      It is a ram mount ball. Used to mount accesoires (gps, phone, camera)

    The 1996 R1100 I am thinking of buying has a different instrument cluster? Just one speedometer? Were they changed at some point? Great riding video!

      Think they changed it in 1998, together with the improved gearbox. Same cluster as the r1150r

    with this way of driving what is the fuel consumption km / l? I am interested in this bike, do you recommend me for this or 1150r or 1200r?

      fuel consumption is roughly 23km per liter without highway. as for the 1150.. abs is a pain on that but it comes with a 6 speed gearbox. 1200 has an entirely different engine. liquid cooled. 1100 and 1150 are oilheads and from what I hear more bulletproof

      @@Oldmanmotoring Thank you for your answer. 1200 is not the same until 2015? it seems to me that liquid cooling is for those models from 2015. i was interested to know models like yours if they have overheating problems

      @@tony8236 You are correct I see. liquid cooled came in 2014. These bikes generally have no overheating issues, they can get really warm though in city traffic at low speeds and standing still. BMW tells you not to rev the engine at the traffic lights. But the worst I have seen happen is discolouring on the exhaust pipes and some molten plastics around the exhaust on some RT and RS models

      Motor is onderin veel krachtiger, en loopt veel soepeler naar hogere toerentallen. Je kan dus veel relaxter rustig rijden en als je wilt ook veel feller optrekken

    I come from a 167 kg 750cc 135 hp Suzuki GSXR. I want a nice seating position. I don't need race power anymore. But I am I doubt if this would be too slow/dull for me. How do you find it? :-)

      Had a 1996 GSXR-750 before. In comparison: this is way more relaxed to drive. It does not have the incredible topspeed of a GSXR, and the power distribution is different. You can drive this boxer 2 cilinder powerfull on torque at low revs. With the GSXR you have to go to the end of the rev counter to experience it's true power. So more laid back driving, and more raw power at the bottom. It is not as smooth as a japanese 4 cilinder though. And I placed upgraded injectors(Bosch EV-14 instead of EV-1), that did increase the smoothness of the bike. But all in all, you should take one for a test drive and see for yourself ;)

      The issue at the start: BMW has an issue where the ABS computer gets turned on before you start the engine. The starter motor can pull the voltage down so it "crashes" and the two red abs lights alternate. After a restart the two lights blinked simultaneously which means all OK. Not a case of bad battery, happens sometimes even with a new one ;)

    Thank you for getting back with me. I'm having trouble with it not running, after starting, without the choke on. I'm thinking the pilot jet's are clogged, do you think I could get it opened up with carbcleaner ordo I need to take them apart in your opinion?

      If the bike runs you could try and use Forté MotoPower1&2. And see how it runs after running the tank empty. It cleans the fuel system.. If it doesn't work you need to remove the carbs and clean them either ultrasonic of with carb cleaner. This will also require a carbtuning though..

      Basically I serviced it, put on some fresh rubber, cleaned it up, drove it around for 1,5 years and now I'm going to sell it and look for another project bike :)
