Gary I noticed it was a Pierburg 7.00578.12.0 EGR Valve, would you know the brand and part number of the cooler by any chance
@@andrewconnolly7169 I bought the cooler direct from LR, not sure of the part number I’m afraid.
@garyredman642 thanks for the reply Gary
Detailed video Gary, thanks very much
Did you have to get the new egr set using diagnostic equipment? Have read a few posts where the warning lights still remain after replacing the valve until its reset using diagnostic equipment. Readon i ask is i dont think my Autel AP200 has this function so even after replacing the valve, I might still need the services of an indy?
Yes I took it to my local independent LR outfit to get that done. It only took five minutes.
Thanks 👍
@@duggystoneradio no problem
Nice video! Its got me motivated to do my Turbo. Where did you buy your new one from please?

Xk el modelo del 2007 2.2 tiene tubo del aire encima motor diferente del modelo 2013? 2013 es recto y 2007 es con tubitos largos
Freelander 2 went through 3 face lifts between 2007 -2014. 2007-2008 base model 2009-2010 minor tweaks and reliability fixes 2010-2014 Electronics and EGR/DPF overhaul The 2014 is a different vehicle to one produced in 2007 It’s when they started going woke and keyless. 2016 LR became eco driven and reliability nightmares
Ok gracias entonces el peor es el del 2007 al 2008 y el mejor 2014? 😅
Yo tengo 2007 con 340mil km sin fallos y conocidos tiene 2013 con 200milk y tienen aburridos con fallos 😅 filtro partículas egr ect
Do you have the part numbers for the gaskets and bolts please
How long did it take you?
Hola que sintomas da cuando hay que cambiar la egr?
Great vid to watch and learn from i only had one spare bolt after completing mine and i know where it goes its safe in my cup holder ready to put in place " its the one that was missing when you took yours apart" Thanks Joe
have you got any torque settings please Gary - cheers pal .......brilliant vid its got me going to do this now thanks so much

I manage to remove and replace the EGR valve & cooler without removing the fuel common rail pipe. Not much room to play with ; used a mirror to find the bolts/screws. Also removed the ECU to make room.
Great help thank you
No problem John
I think the drivers and passengers bases are the same so you might be able to get a good passengers instead of reupholstering
Looks horrible
I dropped the engine and gearbox out together. I do not think it makes time any different, as its easier to get the bolts on the gearbox and starter motor. The angle box then is easier to access and remove the couplng for replacement. I used a motorcycle lift to drop the engine, and my engine crane as heights changed. Put a piece of slippery board on the floor, and drag the whole unit out.
Thank you for this video. Really informative
@@michaelkapp6444 glad to help.

Many thanks for the video. Mine is a 62 plate so is slightly different, the exhaust joints onto the cooler and EGR valve are two bolts so no faffing about with clamps. I did remove the bulk head, which was a pain to get back, but generally following your video it all went surprisingly smoothly. I didnt purge the fuel line and ran my battery flat pumping the diesel through, although after a while it started. I must admit I was dreading doing it but if you take your time and follow a method it is awkward but easily do-able. Thanks again for a very informative video.
@@greenslime6 thanks for the positive feedback, it makes the effort of videoing worthwhile 😊
I took my rubber mounts off the exhaust backbox and used a jack to lower it down slowly and there is enough room to slide it in/out doing it that way… wd40 needed on the rubber mounts to get them on/off.. job done.
Great help gary very helpful I owe you a pint , Iv got mine out now the rebuild
Gary your videos are absolutely amazing mate they definitely don’t get any better than this, cheers. 👌👌👌👌👌
@@robinbanks183 very many thanks for taking the trouble to leave such positive feedback! I’m glad the videos are helpful. Comments like yours make the effort of doing a video worthwhile. 😊
Well done. Very good informative video.
Thanks for the positive feedback, much appreciated 👍🏻
Надо смотреть подушки АКПП, и двигателя. Была такая продлема .
Nice idea! All four of my bolt holes have cracked badly. I’m planning a quick release front end!
You’re always thinking outside the box Scott 🤣🤣🤣 - that’s why we all enjoy your channel so much 😊
Good idea that will hold well, have you looked at the hot stapler repair kits
No I haven’t looked into those. Thought this approach would be a bit neater. Did the work seven weeks ago and no problems with bond so far 🤞
I used a plastic welder to stitch mine then I hot glued large penny washers on been on over a year still holding fast😎🏴
Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
Thank you so much for this video. Exactly what I need to take mine off and reupholster. It's leather, but lower sides are plastic which cracks over the years. Now to be redone. Thanks for sharing. Kind regards
Thanks for the positive comments 😊
Thank you
Been there done it. Its actually easier for access if you drop the sub-frame and suspension off out of the way. Even better, drop the engine on the floor and swap the turbo out.
Brilliant video Gary... Between this and the EGR video - they are gold... The 'yap yap yap' noise you play at the end is one of the faults i have along with a low fuel rail pressure which i have been chasing to no avail. Car conks out on idle and when driving. Im about to jump in with EGR and turbo replacement... i think... but nice if i could sort the fuel rail pressure first before committing to turbo
Thanks for the positive comments Andy, and I’m glad the videos are of help to you 😊
Apparently no need to dismantle wipers motor area.
Well I wouldn’t fancy doing it without removing the rear panel in the engine bay. I found it awkward enough with the panel out 😊
@@garyredman642 done one today. Friendly enaugh. Also uploaded video.
Big time thankbyou ones again. Orange gloves and electric 90 degree ratchet is best friends on this tipe jobs. I see there is no way to take egr itself for cleaning without cooler now.
Reason for replacement? What brand valve you have bought please?
EGR valve kept sticking either open or closed causing warning light and affecting drive. I used a pierburg valve.
Top man Big time thank you
Could you hear the knocking from the ends of the propshaft inside the cab when driving?
No I did not get any knocking. I have the fairly common vibration between 1500-2000 rpm but the new shaft has not sorted that unfortunately.
Great video! Very interesting to see the crank sensor wiring damaged by EGR heat.
Yes that’s the second piece of damaged wiring / loom that I’ve found, the other being near the starter motor on my gearbox video. Might be worth you flagging this on one of your videos Scott as you reach a wider audience.
Well done thanks for posting 👍👍
Thank you for posting 👍👍
Lol, I did this a gew months back. Exhaust manifold to turbo bolts keep coming undone leading to further turbo underboosts. Considering putting some nuts and threadlock on them
Oh that’s a worry. I did toy with the idea of putting some thread lock on but as the originals were so tight I decided against it. Hope I don’t live to regret that! Did you use new bolts?
@@garyredman642retightened and they came loose a few days later. Need to get some new bolts I guess. Can you access the heads of the bolts from the top behind the scuttle panel?
@@HaggisMuncher-y2u sadly I don’t think you can get the bolts out without removing the EGR valve and cooler. You could probably get a spanner in under the cooler to undo them, but I don’t think there would be enough room to withdraw the bolts.
Thanks for putting this up. what milage has your car done please

Quality video, dont often get videos this much in depth, im not in need of a new gearbox but enjoyed the video regardless
Many thanks for your positive feedback! Makes the effort worthwhile, and I’m glad you enjoyed it 😊
Good job but to complicated job I've removed my egr from the bottom of the car there's plenty of space to get to it didn't have to remove anything from the top of the engine only the under car engine cover took me few minutes I didn't have car lift just jack stand's
Hello , only a question what engine do you have? 2.2 diesel??
@@barrioscatalatimoteo did you get any answer here
Do you have a link to where you purchased the front crank seal please
It’s the rear crankshaft seal I replaced as I understand the seal at the pulley end is classed as the front seal. I got the seal from my Landrover dealer.
Another good movie. Happy to do mine after seeing it thanks
Glad it was helpful - makes it all worthwhile 😊
Good movie enjoyed it. It's a too late now but the steering wibbly woobly pipe connecter is easy to undo, the rubber just needs to be pushed up with a tool, I use hose grip pliers
