Metal gear would have never existed if it wasn't for the escape from New York movie. Plus this main menu soundtrack sounds similar to one of the movies soundtrack where the cab driver is taking pliskin to see the Duke.

The Metal Gear pulls him deeper and deeper into the harbor till he manages to put a tracking device on the side of RAY. He resurfaces shortly and swims to the shore line, only to be warned by Otacon that unidentified, heavy gunmen are closing in on his position and it's Solidus's remaining Tengu soldiers. Snake has to then relay on silent-take downs or surrounding hazards to overcome their opposition and succeed to meet back up with Raiden.

The player ends up being duped and manipulated by The Patriots just as much as Raiden. We believe what we're told even if some things appear off, we think we're doing what is right. But then the illusion begins to unravel and we realize not just how many lies we've been told but just how far it goes. Excellent storytelling.
