Oh i been there. The crazy this is that everyone thinks we are cheer, but they dont respect us as much as cheer. One this we were performing for a basketball game half-time, we had to share with the cheerleader even though we had the slot first. They had us go second about 30 into our dance they cut off the music so basketball can warm up. No one stood up for us except our parents and coach. When we end up performing for our families, that paid just to watch us, in the cafeteria

for the people saying “these dancers arent cheerleaders its different!” those are literally cheer motions (low v, high v, daggers, broken t, right punch, left punch + more) if the caption didnt say that these were dancers we wouldve all thought they were cheerleaders. stop pretending like there is an obvious difference bc clearly there isnt

at my school the cheer and dance are very distinctly different, they don't have the same sideline routines either. i like having two because its more things to watch at halftime

There's multiple different things. I'm a former competitive dancer. So, of course there's cheerleaders but there's a dance style called pom that isn't very common at high schools, but it is taught at dance studios. But then you have common dance that's styles typically only done at studios. So things like ballet and jazz. Hope this cleared things up!!

Baby if you're wearing uniforms that resemble a cheerleaders, holding pom poms (which are mostly associated with cheerleaders, not saying no one else can or does use them), you have your hair and makeup done like a cheerleader, doing dances that are pretty much just cheer moves, and CHEERING, you're GOING to be mistaken for cheerleaders. Especially because you're also on the sidelines of a football game... where cheerleaders usually are.

Yeah y’all look like total cheerleaders lol. My school has a DISTINCT difference between our dance team and cheerleading team. The cheer team has completely different outfits, special bows and jackets. Our dance team has multiple outfits but they are always glittery and/or a different color palette. Also, our dance team dances in front of the band, and the cheer leaders cheer in front of the crowd. Our dance team also doesn’t yell or scream, they simply dance to the bands songs.

Our dance team dances in the bleachers next to the band with a big sign at the top that says “ *City Name* Dance Team!”

You are cheerleaders. Your team may have a different name, but you are doing the same exact thing.

no thats so real i am on DRILL TEAM which looks so so much different like we have hats and boots and belts but we are always referred to as cheerleaders
