I cut my hair to my chin when I was about 15 but I had told my dad I had wanted to before. Honestly, I wanted to cut it shorter but my family is Christian, specifically SDA and apparently it’s looked down on to get your hair cut short. I loved my long hair but it was too much to deal with. It took 6 full hours to get mostly dry and I just wanted it gone. Now, I went to a beauty school where it’s only 5 or 10 dollars to get your hair cut, the only problem is, I showed my reference pics and she didn’t quite get it right. It looked really weird on me. I looked like a soccer mom who doesn’t have time to care about her hair. No matter what I tried, it wouldn’t look good. When I came out, my dad looked me over and gave me a look that almost said “You could have done better.” Don:t get me wrong, I love my dad and I just think he was worried that I was trying to be less feminine. I am a girl/woman, I have always been a girl/woman, and I will always be a girl/woman. Anyway, long story short, I’m growing my hair back out but playing around with cutting it and every time I tell my dad I cut my hair he’s like “again?” With like that, “really??” face. You know?
