Pomerelle Mountain ultra marathon

This was an un-supported 50 mile trail run to prepare for my ultramarathon season. It was great preparation for the IMTUF 100 mile ultra in McCall, Idaho and the Wyoming Range 100 in Wyoming. Your video deserved comments. Must have been an algorithm thing . I don't know how folks missed it. It is a helpful video. Being a bigger guy, a Clydesdale. I have a 48 chest. I will give this bag a test. I will ask a question on the off chance you see it a few years later. Does it wear down or shred shirts? Does it, by way of movement pull your shirts up? Being a vet and old-er, k old. I carry extra gear. Had an Inov -8 15l pack, it chews through shirts. None of the Solomons, Drankful, would work for me. Regular back packs, no matter how tied down, just tear up my shirts, pull them up. Don't care what I look like as long as it works. Anywho, helpful to hear all the gear it could carry. Thanks

    Hi, I'm getting into zero drop shoes (or at least low drop) and am considering these Superiors or Lone Peaks. I wanted to ask what your recommendation is between these and another trail running shoe like a Saucony Peregrine or Xodus Trail. The Peregine does have a relatively low drop (4mm) and was curious if you had a preference and maybe why! Thanks.

    I have 600km in my Superior 5's. My only issue is they get a bit slippy in mud. The tread gets clogged up and I skate out sideways if the mud is more than 1/2 inch deep. Might try the LP next time as the tread lugs look a bit deeper and more aggressive.

    I trained 20 weeks for my first marathon that I barely ran a month ago. It took me every bit of 20 weeks to prep for that race. I have to say, I’m very doubtful a regular person could go couch to 50k in 50 days… but I’m open minded and about to start this video 👍🏼

    • @trainspartan4464
      @trainspartan4464 2 роки тому

      I don’t think most could go from couch to running an entire 50K, but I believe they could walk/jog and find a way to finish. We are capable of much more than we believe and finding a way to finish something extremely challenging, even if it’s extremely slow, helps us expand what we believe we can accomplish. Sometimes we get so set on finishing something as fast as possible we give up when we don’t meet a self-imposed speed requirement. A 50K is a 50K, whether it’s walked, jogged, or run the entire distance. At least that’s my philosophy. Let me know if you decide to exceed the marathon distance and how it goes. If you’ve finished a marathon I know for sure you could do a 50K!

    • @alexm1841
      @alexm1841 2 роки тому

      @@trainspartan4464 I 100% agree with the points you made. You have to set the ego aside and just get across that finish line. I noticed a lot of races have cutoff points though, so that may be difficult for those held back by endurance or mental strength. I ran my marathon early June and after taking two weeks off, I was back to around 20-40 miles per week injury free. After binging a dozen 50k/50 mile videos today I actually decided to push it and sign up for a trail 50 miler in Malibu CA early December! I’m starting a 16 week program tomorrow and super excited for this challenge. I went out and ran 20 after watching videos earlier… ready to crush 50

      @trainspartan4464 2 роки тому

      Those sound like great ideas. It can be really frustrating to deal with injuries and have to back off or take time off running. You’d be surprised how far you can race on lower miles per week if the quality is there.

  • @Krilin84
    @Krilin84 2 роки тому

    Thanks for the comparison. Good to hear the LPs can work for the biggest ultra distances and that the superior will work up to 50k. I'm a beginner runner since about two years and have ended up with plantar faciitis when training and completing my first 50k. So now I'm turning towards altras and vivobarefoots as they seem to fit my feet very well and also seem to promise better run form and strength to heal my PF and avoid injuries, so that I can keep developing my ultra distance abilities!😊

    • @trainspartan4464
      @trainspartan4464 2 роки тому

      Congrats brother! Best of luck on your races and congrats on your entry into ultra distances. Running has changed my life and helps keep me sane. If you find that the Lone peaks don’t give quite enough foot protection or cushion the Mont Blanc or Timp 4 are fantastic shoes with a bit bigger stack height. I’ve found I prefer them to the Lone Peaks for really rough or technical ultras.
