Thrustmaster Warthog Afterburner Detent Mod Explanation and Install
I could not find a good video on the afterburner detent so I made one! Here is a short video explaining the purpose and showing the install of Sniporbob's Afterburner Detent for the Thrustmaster Warthog Throttle. I take no credit for the design, I just found there were no good install videos on you tube.

Iflag display mode temp setup

Just got the parts to build my iflag display. A sample to see how it works. Works even better in a race. (Plan to incorporate in to dash when built, will post video of finished build eventually)
Thanks you so much man.
When you reverse/change this, it means you don't need to lift any more to go from Off to Idle? That would be bad as can accidentally power them off?
This has nothing to do with the idle cutoff
no need to print anything, you can just use a file and file down the stock part untill it does the exact same thing!
With a 3dprinted part you still have the unmodified original. If you have access to a 3dprinter this part costs less than 5cents
Hi! Can I ask you how did you link the two parts of the throttle? A friend of mine has this controller but he can’t find the way to put the two parts together, so he has to move them one by one quite the same way when accelerating. Sorry for my English! Thank you!
Theres a metal handle / bar in the middle of both throttles ( below the buttons ) you move this like you would a bolt on a gate, to connect / disconnect as required.
You friend have very big problems ! You need to show him to doctor. He is 110% idiot...
thank you for sharing this video! I printed the detent mod and works like a charm!
man, i wished i could have this, but living in switzerland, i checked, and all online websites have delivery fees up to (about) 32 dollars, the import fees are just crazy.
Do you know anyone with a 3d printer? Do you have any local community groups on social media you could post to seeing if someone close has one??
#crazyrussianpilot :-> Awesome video!👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Thank you, I am glad that people are finding the video useful.
@@GotWake4 Grand Mercy for subscrib 👍👍👍👍👍
Good job !
Where can I buy one, since I don't have a 3D printer? I'd love to install this in my warthog. Appreciate any information or suggestions. Thanks!
Let me look tonight and see if I have any left (otherwise you might have to give me a few days and I could print you one) all I was asking the guys I fly with is to cover shipping costs
@@GotWake4 ok 10-4...I really appreciate it.
Eventually it will wear, possibly quickly, so definitely not a permanent replacement.
Then you print another one...
I see someone fixes bikes
Why do you say that??? Because of the T style Allen key??? But no I do not, I just prefer that style for everything that I do. I have both styles.
85% you mean military power right?
He probably means 85% of available travel, which can be set as military power or 100% and after that it's afterburner.
Nice explanation! Glad you're happy with it.
The man himself.... Thank you so much for taking the time to design and share the mod. I lack any ability to 3d model anything so this video is the least I can do to support your amazing donation to the flight sim community
@@GotWake4 No problem. I'm happy to see people getting use out of it.
I bought the Warghog HOTAS last week and ordered your mod as well. Today it arrived as I have asked a 3D printing company to print it for me, this is absolutely amazing and works like a charm, the original detent piece sometimes was causing the HOTAS to slide at my desk as you have to lift it a bit. Thank you so much! Greetings from Poland.
THANKS for the video. Just got my warthog today .
Congrats on the warthog, it's a great throttle... This just makes it that much better
Thank you just getting started.
For some reason, It's not working for my Warthog, and even this Detent is works as full stop. Can you send me a photo of the lower part of your throttle? I mean the part which should touch with the detent.
Can I put the detent on the other side to provide me with that throttle stop & 'lift' for moving into reverse from idle? I'm looking into purchasing the Warthog throttle system for Elite Dangerous and knowing when I'm in fwd / idle / reverse is somewhat crucial, so it'd be useful to switch the detent to the other side, making me lift the throttle after I've hit neutral and when I want to move into reverse (instead of after burners). Great video, thanks :)
If you search on thingiverse I believe there is a 3d model for a center detent to do ex What you are looking for, I however have never used it.
@@GotWake4 I found those after making my initial comment - thank you very much for getting back. 3D printers are the wave.
does this mod work the other way around as well, just detent into `idle off`?
No, this one has nothing to do with the idle cutoff.
@@GotWake4 yes i know, just wondered if it would also fit in that end of the throttle and do something similar but for `shut off`
@@arabianjules I'm also curious if I can put the detent on the other side to provide that tactile feedback for when I'm in idle / passing the threshold to reverse.
You should be able to but the detent piece is not removable from the idle side. It's easily visible with the cover off but it might be a little tricky to get a file into there. Also since it isn't removable if you mess up you will either have to live with it or buy a new throttle.
@@rubiconnn cheers good to know
where can i get one from please? UK
If you don't know anyone with a 3dprinter there are several 3dprinting services out there, I'm not sure if 3dhubs is in the UK, but I have used that to find someone local with a 3dprinter to print stuff for me. Shapeways is another option, they are a professional printing company and you will pay a little more
@@GotWake4 doesnt thingiverse itself offer to print it and send it to you?
Who is selling these?
If you know anyone with a 3dprinter the file is available for free,
@@GotWake4 No 3D, You know anyone who does and wants to sell one chip. thanks for the response!
This saved my life...... I was looking for days for a calibration setup so 100% was at the gate, now i realise its this little thing...
Really? It saved your life?
neuron55 absolutely did! I would have definitely seen the light at the end of the tunnel, had I not found this...
Is it very annoying when using planes without burners?
It is if you don't remove the piece, you only get about 80% without lifting the throttles "over the gate".
The file is an exact replica of the original. So the part has to be modded ! At least you don't damage the original. I have a printer so can make as many I want. Kewl stuff.
No it is not, it already had the mod done to it. The dozen or so that I have printed for my friends, not one of them has had to make any mods.
@@GotWake4 printed mine and will have to file a bit off as i still need to pickup the throttle levers to ge over detent
@@tday67 it still takes a bit of force to get over the push through detent, try it a few times, I know it has seemed to get easier on mine the more I use it
That is great, thank you man !!!
How is it in real planes with afterburners?
For me in dcs in the hornet I did not even need to modify the curve, the stop is full mill and ab kicks in right as I pushed over the stop. You may need to adjust your curve slightly to get it to match perfectly.
@@GotWake4 I meant how does the throttle feel when real pilots want to activate their afterburners? Do they have to lift the throttle slighty or something like that? There must be some kind of tactile feedback so they don't activate the afterburner accidentally, right?
Lahzy Yes! Theres two «levers» on the Hornet throttle. Lift them, to hit the burners. Im switching mine up now to get that last bit of control and realism. A real Hornet pilot cant be thrusting his muscle memory only, when calling mil power.. It became pretty obvious when me and my friend did formation flying, takeoffs
@@SurfVR Thank you very much! I will set my Warthog throttle so that I have to lift for afterburners :)
@@lazi21 the A-10 doesn't have afterburners so you don't need it.
I you switch the thing do you lose the Idle cutoff?
No, this has no effect on the idle cutoff
I filed my down, the problem with doing it that way is quite difficult to get them perfectly even and I am a little pedantic about such things, so thanks for this.
i did not know of that notch thingie :)
I would recommend using it, it makes a big difference in knowing when you are going into afterburner
It's in the manual...
@@KayoMichiels who reads those anyways, i got youtube and when i find something new, its like a new suprice every single time ;)
